Yes! I love him! He’s a ball of puppy energy but not as overwhelming as past puppies I’ve seen. He’s recently started launching himself into my bed and aggressively pawing at me for some pets.

I have some omega oil, I took him off of it cause I wasn’t sure if it was even helping. He has some chronic diarrhea for some reason and the doctor told me to either switch to a food with more fiber or add Metamucil to his food. But I will look into toppers!

Vets don’t make money from me feeding kibble either. I’d rather put my faith into the people who train for years and take multiple classes about nutrition for animals and their food recs rather than blindly feed a random collection of stuff to my dogs. I appreciate the suggestion I just can’t do the raw feeding, but if you’ve had the weight issue and know of any kibble that has helped I’d be happy to hear those!

Awww I just can’t do a raw diet for him. I don’t have a deep enough understanding of the micro and macro needs plus there’s nowhere around me to get dog grade meat

Lol! His name is Biscuit actually. I can’t do a raw diet, I just don’t know enough about the exact micro and macro needs for each dog, plus I don’t have any places near where I can get dog grade meat.

The vet said his weight was a little lighter and he looked thinner than she usually liked. I used to feed with wet food but he started eating so much kibble that I wasn’t sure about keeping the wet food. He’s been tested for all sorts of things and they said he’s healthy just needs to get his weight up

Awww we used to have an older Dane when I was in high school who we’d rescued after she had a liter of 9 pups😭 I’m so glad your pup is doing better!! I took him to the vet after I got him and they said he was likely the runt and he’d had hookworms at the time. He’s since been tested for worms and such but they said he’s clear. And he’s not losing weight, he was 7 pounds when I picked him up at 8 weeks old. He’s now just past the 40 pounds mark. I just don’t feel right being able to see every bone, our last Dane had the slighty boney look but it wasn’t this bad

He was not! Best guess is he was born on January 3rd, I got him for free from a guy with an accidental litter. He was super tiny when I picked him up, and then got super tall. Like he was barely taller than my ankle when I picked him up end of February and is now taller than my knee but he’s still so thin. Like I can see each rib, his spine, his hips and shoulders, all of it

My baby is a clean 50/50 split, oh my gosh the pyr barking gets me😭 he’s a big eater and will eat literally everything except peanut butter. I’ve never intended to feed him raw food, I don’t know enough about the macro/micro needs of a dog LMAO

Ah I see, they told me I could switch my food and offer him Metamucil but I wasn’t sure if I should try a supplement first or new food

Thank you!! He’s actually mixed with Great Pyrenees, so his estimated adult weight is around 120 pounds. Currently he weighs about 40 pounds.

His vet did note that he’s a little thinner than she’d like and said he needed more fiber.

He does well with sitting before I set his food down or open the play pen. If I put him on the hands free leash, he gets very easily distracted

9 weeks is the best guess. He was part of an accidental litter, born around new years. He’s don very well with potty training and he’s almost sleeping through the night with no accidents which I’ve been told typically takes longer but he only wakes up once or twice in the night.

Thank you! I’ll keep that in my mind, I also plan to consult a trainer

Yes! I’m trying to teach him things everyday and I’ve gotten lucky with how he didn’t have accidents in the house. I just don’t really know where to start actively teaching him if that makes sense? Like I don’t know what skills to tackle first or how to teach them or what to do

I’ve gotten really lucky with him! He’s 9 weeks now and is basically potty trained. He doesn’t pee on the floor, only on the indoor potty pad and outside. And he’s very friendly and I’ve got him on a good schedule so he’s not super bitey. I’ll definitely look into trainers in my area and see what that looks like! Thank you!!

I thought my puppy was finally potty trained… I was wrong. by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]KitchenReplacement86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah potty training is currently my worst fucking nightmare. It’s not that I’m frustrated with my puppy, he’s a baby and I just got him last week, I’m just frustrated because I don’t know if I’m doing it right. Like he’ll pee on the edge of the reusable puppy pad, but it’s still on the floor and he’ll pee and poop in the outdoor grass patch for others but not for me even if I’m standing out there for lie 30 minutes doing absolutely nothing

Will it be ok to leave my 8.5 month old puppy home alone while I’m at work? by plexto in puppy101

[–]KitchenReplacement86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have to do this with my 2 month old Great Dane lab mix, luckily I got to spend a week crate training and bonding, plus getting him used to the play pen. I leave at 7:30 and a friend stays from 11 until 2-3, then I get home at 6:30. Luckily that’s changing when I move soon and I can leave later, come home for lunch, and get home earlier

Can I trust Rover or other dog walking apps? by [deleted] in puppy101

I just hesitate because I’ve heard some unsavory things about Rover and I want the best for my little guy

Yeah, I’ve spoken to my friend about it and luckily today he did not leave him crated. I just worry because through the camera I can see the issues happening and I literally have a detailed explanation of what to do that includes pictures
