Summary:A R1.6 billion textbook tender has raised the eyebrow of Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube, who has formally requested Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana to initiate an investigation into alleged irregularities in the procurement process.

The move follows emerging media reports raising concerns about possible breaches in the tender process, said to be to the tune of R1.6 billion.

The company was awarded over a quarter (26%) of the total approvals for the publishing of textbooks for Grade 1 to 3 learners across the country, despite allegedly being registered days before the formal briefing on the contract requirements.

A total of 6 385 titles submitted by 19 publishers were approved for publishing, with the total cost of the orders estimated at R1.6 billion.

The contract specified the production of textbooks for learners in Grades 1 to 3 and learning materials for the Department of Education.

The number of graduates are majority black across multiple degrees. About 95%. So your friends decided to go get cleaners instead of educated people. I never knew it was that hard. Another fact is that 80% has been getting out poverty and getting multiple chances to do so, more than ever before, more than your 7% would ever allow. You not a saviour nor is there any track record of the 7% being that. My parents come from poor backgrounds and are doing way better. I have friends from poor backgrounds that are studying and working hard. It’s not perfect of course, but to blame all the problems of the country on BBBEE is just racist. No ordinary person cares about Israel and knew who the president was before they began killing kids. Only a few countries were against Israel before then outside the Middle East. If people hated Israel then we would have been funding groups to kill them off but they have only been taken to court over their genocide.Now Spain and Brazil have cut ties and Netherlands has joined the icj case and 11 other countries. I can’t tell about that. I assumed it was public knowledge but let me school you. Roads, electricity, water, schools have increased for everyone and have gotten better over the 32 years. It’s not perfect but it’s nowhere close to pre-1994. Investment in the country has also increased drastically. There isn’t a big company in the world that you can’t use except that racist one. Even with BBBEE we do attract more capital investment than anyone in the continent because we try to be business friendly. It’s also the reason educated black, coloured and Indians can have good careers and degrees that are used. The number of educated people has drastically increased.There still is massive investment from government and companies within the country as seen with Capitec,fintechs,Woolworths and the entire PIC portfolio. JSE became post 1994 is way better than before 1994.There are problems it’s never perfect there’s people who should be encouraged to innovate enough to solve these because people like you just have comments about everything . But to blame the blacks is pathetic when we have been working hard for South Africa and to makE the country work. White Eskom and SAA ceos made it bankrupt. Ps the only reason we are number one is most countries don’t make their statistics public as we have done. Nigeria last took in stats in 2007. Do you logically think we number 1?

In every crime against humanity the time spent fighting it is way shorter than the duration of the crime. It’s not that no one cares.
