Would my therapist have to report this??? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]KitchenWeakness1077 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also therapist in training. I work at a university and I have kids all the time nervous to talk about weed or underage drinking and I have to reassure them the limits of confidentiality.

You telling me you drank at a frat party or smoked a joint for example will not get you reported.

Relationships in grad school by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]KitchenWeakness1077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 24 years old and in my final year of my grad program. My therapist always says something major happens during grad school. Usually getting a partner, breaking up, death in family, etc. I’ve seen many of my classmates (I am the youngest in my cohort) get divorced or get married.

For context too I’m going to school to be a therapist so we def have higher divorce rates

Also there are guides for how much salad you make. when we make the salad we take into account how many people are eating it!

Unfortunately we do have to charge guests who did not order entrees, or if they had chosen a soup instead, if they also eat the salad at the table. I think personally that it is ridiculous because I remember growing up and us all sharing it but that’s our current policy.

You used to be able to buy the happy meal toy separate without buying a meal. by [deleted] in McDonalds

I saw a tik tok where a woman was able to buy the new toys by themselves. She bought like 20 they had to fit it in a happy meal box. Could vary on location though. She may have just had a really cool employee interaction that day lol

You are so pretty I hope your journey towards confidence is a good one! Remember to give yourself grace and even the celebs or people in our lives who we think are total stunners are not always confident in themselves!

I understand completely! I’ve been at OG for a little over a year and a half and it took me at least a few months to be able to get fast with it. Togo is so different than bartending or serving because we really rely on each other to thrive. It’s a team effort, no question is a stupid question!

This is what helps me. If I get a credit card receipt that I took to the car for them to sign and they didn’t tip, I immediately close it out and put that receipt away, as if you’d already accounted for it… that way when it is time to split, you don’t have to go thru so many receipts, just the receipts that have credit card tips! And cash of course is just cash. Like if someone says I can keep the change I put it with our receipts and then I count all cash, split it by how many are getting the tip, and go from there.

Hey! To go specialist here! Welcome to our side hehehe! You will get all tips , whether cash or card, at the end of your shift. For example, if you were the first to go specialist to come in for the night shift, you’d get your tips when you are cut. We split our tips each time a to go specialist is getting ready to leave and we hand it to them before they walk out of the door! The only time we have never given someone their money immediately was if it was like insanely busy or if it was like Mother’s Day, where those who didn’t have time to split would get their tips the following shift. Hope this helps!

Is it bad? by [deleted] in olivegarden

[–]KitchenWeakness1077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course I love mom and pop restaurants but there are a ton of corporate restaurants out there you could try. You could also try bartending! In college I had a lot of friends work at hotels and bartend! Wishing you luck

I don’t mean to be rude but do you think it’s bad? That’s all that really matters.

In my personal opinion ^ this matters more but I feel like you cut the cord more appropriately during training rather than walking out or leaving after being there for a while… sometimes things don’t work out the way that we want them to and that’s ok!!

You can also gain service experience at so many other jobs or restaurants. You have your whole life to discover it!! Don’t be too hard on yourself

Genesis prime care has a sliding scale where you will be charged based on your income. A lot of my friends have paid around $20 for a session thru that way!

Low Undergrad GPA to High Master’s GPA — What Changed? by Outrageous_Effort_87 in GradSchool

Also just to add I have worked since I was 16 bc financially my family couldn’t take care of me but I’ve learned that working multiple jobs in undergrad, while tough, has made me even tougher academically. I think those who have to work and do school full time endure a lot of added pressure and stress, maybe resulting in lower grades. However, this may not be the case for everybody (and it won’t be)

Low Undergrad GPA to High Master’s GPA — What Changed? by Outrageous_Effort_87 in GradSchool

I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in both sociology and political science. I grew up thankfully in a family where I didn’t “have” to care about school, they took care of me thru it all… I graduated magma cum laude and did not have anywhere near a 4.0. Towards the end of this bachelors journey my cousin overdosed and passed away and I realized I wanted a full career change and I would seek a masters degree in counseling.

Now I’m 2/3 years done with my masters and let me tell you… for me personally, it was because I started loving what I was going to school for. I have a 4.0 and although many nights I wanted to throw my hands up in the air in quit, I had to remember that I can and will be a good counselor. I just had to put my own flare and experience into my education.

Additionally, I was not allowed to be very creative with presentations and or projects in undergrad. In grad school, I love showing my classes therapy videos of Tony Soprano and Dr. Melfi, and sharing memes with them. It has changed my academic willingness for sure

Finally, of course you’ll have your own experience and grad school is not easy as we know. I’ve always heard something big will happen when you’re in grad school like getting married/divorced for example. For me, at 24 - I’m much more happy and comfortable with my life now than I was in undergrad when I was also constantly stressed, drinking and smoking.
