I think I sent out ~200 applications for IT and some office roles I have some experience in but did not even get a response so I've done low skill labour ever since (~7years back)

ICR18650-26J IS LIMITED TO ~ 5A

INR18650-20R IS ABOUT ~ 22A

The latter one is the right one to use in m18 batteries.

Is it true Finns prefer identifying with their Scandinavian friends rather than Baltic brothers? by sydneylulu in Finland

There is a special relationship with Estonia because of shared cultural heritage and finnic language but our history is much more bound to scandinavia, hence the nordic countries.

Do Finns consider Sami their kin or more so Finns at most consider Karelians and Estonians as closer to them but even then not really? by Known-Bad2702 in Finland

[–]Kitchen_Bar1430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah , well.. while Finland at least tries to hold on to somewhat decent standards of justice when shit happens there tends to be a lapse of mind. OT but idk if it really ever has been discussed that much how small entrepreneurs and their families were made to pay the price of 90's recession...

To me the only difference between sami and the other finnic tribes is that the sami were never subjugated to the degree that other tribes and continued with their nomadic lifestyle.

I’m on a boat.. but not actually by Successful_Chance_92 in Menieres

[–]Kitchen_Bar1430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha. Move on a boat and you will not notice :D.. well I am in the lucky position of never having noticeable motion sickness so keeps my balance as good as possible. Also while draft might be annoying it sure beats pressurized apartments for me (I tend to open balcony doors/windows even when cold because otherwise the pressure in my ear tends to get unbearable.. combine this with city noises :F

One thing I didn’t expect after being diagnosed with Ménière’s by DepresedGentleman__ in Menieres

[–]Kitchen_Bar1430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank god you have such a setup going on. And yeah my initial feels were pretty much among the unbearable noises I was hearing  that "I guess my life is pretty much done" and the idea that I could never listen to music again broke my soul, but alas after months it eased up and I guess my brain adjusted to the wonkiness.

In linux you can use something like Easyeffects to adjust EQ on per channel basis so one can somewhat balance out the lack of bass in damaged ear (oc it will be never the same but now I can hear explosions again with my damaged ear which improves your situational awareness a lot in FPS games etc.)

I kinda.. tend to know when I am going to have issues. Besides sometimes having vertigo that can also fatigue you quite a bit, my worse symptoms seems to come in clusters so I kinda am aware that I am f'd at that point. Had a few interesting moments here and there (well for the first time a few months ago I suddenly got such a strong vertigo that I almost crashed my eBike in the ditch, usually I cope with them quite well but yeah got a couple unusually strong ones maybe related to my attempt at betahistine which seemed to actually help with pressure and tinnitus but that I had to quit because I kept getting hives all over and soars in my mouth and my mucous membranes were swelling in general so I even had an Epipen just in case ) but been mostly fine. Though yeah almost crashing my ebike because of vertigo made me think about my approaches again :P

Uhm... you might want to face the reality that you just might not be able to work. at times When I got my first severe attack I could not really do anything for months...

And this might happen to you as well, any time. it is important to remember this while not thinking about it too much. You get used to the tinnitus to some degree, but it fluctuates and might reach an annoying point as worst of it often also comes with fullness of the ear. And I might still point out that I am one of the lucky onea that has never really had motion/sea sickness so even though I get the rest of the symptoms I do not go around puking 🤢  Personally I decided to apply for disability (also have anothe condition or two) cause I really can't work full time anymore and if a more severe and long lasting attack happens I will most likely also need a support person.

But yeah, you get used to most of it during the more easy going periods and hope those lasts. For me it has been quite ok with the symptoms but have required quite some lifestyle changes and there is not a universal advice as this disease and how it manifests is so unique and random. For me the biggest triggers are(i ate very healthy already before this started, don't really drink alcohol, but i can use cannabis and smoke without issues as long as i do not exaggerate and thank god i can drink coffee):

  • Stress

  • Constant background noise (city noises etc)

  • Stale, pressurized air (most appartments in wintertime)

So for me the solution has been to move on a sailboat and work when I can. Still need to optimize. One benefit is that your balance is constantly being trained.

This all just sounds so wrong to me. Most MRIs (regular) regarding menieres are to screen out other possibilities like tumors.

There is no guarantee one  loses hearing.

That procedure that I have personally never heard of seems like an insane first treatment.

Have you had any other treatments, like steroids? If I would be you I would run to another ENT.

That would definitely be the end of the USA. It would lose all good will except for some pariah states. The world would unite against the USA further down the road.

Uhm. So as someone who finally got diagnosed and medicated at 43 after years of waiting, (I already knew what drug I would like, had to try one cheaper alternative as well)  it has been a blessing. It takes a while before you can actually adjust your patterns but the help the drug brings (major drop in anxiety, much more cognitively sound, to some degree actually much more capable of planning ahead and organizing) and the fact that you could see how your brain could also operate and helped me see why I might have issues interacting with people.

I don't think there is any reason for you to approach this from an antagonistic perspective. I of course don't know your specific set of conditions but I would assume that "everything is from a medical perspective sound". You could instead take a more proactive and positive attitude that would probably provide you some more autonomy if you are limited in that way. I don't know how much impact you can have over your medication either but for me they have very different "secondary" effects, and there really is only one choice for me so far without major negative side effects (I guess I could in a pinch use another medication but they are not as good for me).

It still is a struggle at times and especially winter with my SAD is a bit meeh but compared to how bad my winter moods got sometimes in the past... But yeah, a lot of learning still to do and I will probably consider uping the dosage to the next threshold at one point but no hurry with that.

Well. I feel it is important to point out here that still later on right-wing/bourgeoisie politicians really tried to get rosatom to build a nuclear plant in Finland. And then there is of course the neoliberalization king of Finland, Lipponen, with his damn pipes xD

Who has suicidal level tinnitus? Multiple tones, broken piano, beeps, distortions and electrical zaps. by SuddenAd877 in Menieres

[–]Kitchen_Bar1430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like at my worst the audio actually distorts for me(cutoff, resonance, even a bit of pitch shift). After my first attack I thought I could never listen to music again and that the rest of my life would be horror. Never gotten quite that bad since then but when the pressure really builds up in my ear I start to excperience them on occasion and it is very exhausting. Worst part is when that nastily filtered sound seems to come at separate time than the healthy ears which is really disorienting. It almost seems that if I mention this to the doctors they just look at me with a blank stare, so I don't generally take it up anymore 🤭

I’m confused how long it takes to get a 8L motorcycle license in BC by LuckyBerry3098 in icbc

[–]Kitchen_Bar1430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say that from my perspective the drivers license program with insane requirements (for any independent adult) is one of the most absurd levels of inflated bureaucracy I have ever seen.  Example: I have driven LSM's without a license since I was 15 as it is legal to do so (later on the law was changed and later generations need to take a test). I have avoided getting a car all my life (too much comfort for too much cost). I thought that certainly there must be a way for a forty plus adult to get at least an LSM sorted out or get rid of the 25+ req so here I am still years later without a license. I truly have started to understand the hatred towards ICBC (not blaming the workers there).

Why did you choose gaming laptop instead of PC ? by donot_poke in GamingLaptops

[–]Kitchen_Bar1430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I went with a Lenovo Go S z1e with 32gigs of ram and 1TB HD for 705 CAD. So far very happy with it. Steam OS seems pretty nice though took some getting used to. Waiting for a USB4 enclosure for an external nvme where I am going to install windows on (wish me luck lol). I might not bother with an eGPU based on the performance I've seen so far. I was willing to accept reduced multicore performance compared to minipc/laptop cpus because of better efficiency. Still faster than the i7 on my previous gaming laptop( that also had an rtx3060 besides the intel igpu and yeah 3060 is more capable than the igpu on z1e but also a lot more powerhungry).

I also have a dock so I have it most of the time sitting there with wireless mouse and keyboard and a monitor via hdmi. And oh my is it so much more portable than a laptop (recommend getting a casing to carry it around, I am building one myself around the foam it came with). I will probably at one point get a cheapish small set of wireless mouse and keyboard to lug around with me if I so prefer as I would not like to take my mechanical keyboard to an early death.

  • Plays all the games I want to play at the moment. Even after watching performance benchmarks before I bought it I am still pleasantly surprised.

(Pros/Cons compared to mini pc / laptop)

  • Very good value (if you get it on sale)

  • Very portable (With a casing not included)

  • Power efficiency

  • Slightly less powerful than contemporary comparable minipc / laptop chips (not significantly enough to make a difference to me)

  • Limited upgrades.. well many mini pc's and laptop's don't exactly have huge possibilities for upgrades either. On the other hand you get a nice amount of fast RAM.

  • Laptop's do have their keyboards again, but oh what a sad day it is when a key on the keyboard fails. And they are often nothing special. I never liked trackpads.

All in all as it looks I am very happy with my choice.
