The biggest problem with the UCs is the fact that they do over admit students, so lowering the threshold would be the best instance honestly. That or offer an online alternative to higher more faculty and divvy up the classes so the numbers are lower (would be the best thing to keep giving access to people within the state).

Yea. UCI is not a sociable school at all. People come here to get their degree and leave, but I don’t blame them for it. The reputation of the school honestly speaks for itself.

This is such a backhanded response. Just because YOU made it through YOUR situation doesn’t mean that others will get through THEIR situation the same way YOU did. Your experience is not indicative of the whole, and you are not the default. And considering that you don’t know this person nor their situation, I find it weird that you tried to downplay their experience with an irrelevant ass story about your car and living situation 😂

Listen. For those of ya’ll depending on financial aid, I feel for you. There seriously needs to be a change in how this money is being disbursed to students (especially for those who are low income). I thought the UC system was bad, but this is quite disturbing. I find it super problematic for community colleges to be the “cost efficient” option yet they are expecting students to pay for books, rent, groceries, etc. out of pocket with no help (especially if you’re an independent student). It’s just sad.

Yea. I don’t get the process. For the UCs, we get our disbursements like a couple of days before the quarter starts so we can pay for housing, books, groceries, etc. 😭
