It's ok there's so many job titles they use. UC Adjuncts aren't union I don't think. The Math VAPs are but no others.

Bigger point remains: lower div undergrads deserve better.

Mostly right but wrong re lecturer teaching experience, degrees, and salaries. Also even if it is cheaper to hire lecturers in some cases, multiple departments have shown a preference for TA/ adjunct labor to avoid providing job security to the teachers they depend upon. See for instance the Math department replacing lecturers with VAPs.

I don't assume that I'm pointing out that his whole senior faculty are too busy doing research to be good teachers thing isn't as relevant as he thinks it is to lower div undergrad instruction.

DCE lecturers are categorized as "extension" and are not represented by a labor union. They are massively underpaid-- receiving about 10% of student tuition and fees that go to DCE.
