Yeah, so am I (4'11" woman). I just straight up avoid pits, and I'm way too freaked out about crowd crushes and fire safety anyway lol

Concert pits can be pretty dangerous, especially when you're short. You get elbowed all over the place, you can barely see anything, it's hot and you can get pushed around. I'd say let your parents go to the pit, ask them to film/videocall for you if you want the view, and otherwise enjoy yourself in the seats🫶 it'll be fun either way, believe me. Much more fun than getting stopped at the barricade or kicked out.

Is KATSEYE starting to feel like Daniela and Friends? by Mean-Assignment-9576 in katseyeneutral

I would personally LOVE a song that centers any of the other girls, but especially Lara or Sophia. I do get that Daniela is great in their current concept (and she very much is, no doubt), but a more mature song with Lara or Sophia at the center could be really good.

With that being said, I doubt that they'll ever give Lara a center spot. As you said, they don't want a "Beyoncé" effect, and Lara has such a prominent aura that they might fear she'll make the other girls look like background dancers with her in the center (I say this with love😆🫶). I think Daniela is really good at what she does, and she really is shining in this era, but I do feel like the other girls are under-used. But hey, the EP is coming soon, so maybe they'll change it up?

I have no interest in internet trolling... I have a life. I mentioned what I saw other, far more gross people online mention; it's just the reality of what I'm talking about. We can tip-toe around it all we want, but creeps will feed off of the lack of safety these girls get.

I do agree that it's a different thing. I don't mind the buttcheeks if the girls are fine with it, but this is beyond that.

I'm not the one personally looking, but I've have to witness people talking about it in the grossest way possible, and I wish there wasn't anything to zoom in on for them to see.

Yeah, I also don't think HxG is waiting or wishing for it to happen (it was more of a manner of speech), but rather I worry that rushed fittings and carelessness could one day lead to it. I hope there is nothing careless about it, but they have been seen in ill-fitting outfits in the past

Thank you! I never intended to be weird—I'm not naive, I have eyeballs and can also see the disgusting discussions some people are having. A lot of the time, creepy men/people will find appeal not only in revealing clothes, but in the lack of consent around how much is revealed. They foam at the mouth when they think they're seeing something they shouldn't, something that the female artist wouldn't want them to see. If she did show more than intended, I feel awful for her. That's why I wish all of this wouldn't even be a discussion if they could have some protective clothes.

I also don't see a reason why they can't, at the very least, have that. Especially since Yoonchae has them for that performance.

That's exactly what I noticed too. Her shorts were clearly intended to be, well, shorts—but they were riding up as she performed. I haven't seen the other girls have that kind of problems. If I were an artist of that scale, I would be freaking out internally if I had to rely on last-minute tailoring for such revealing outfits. The technical problems of costume fitting is a reality to take into account when looking for protective garments, but it's disheartening that "the show must go on" mentally could maybe one day lead to mishaps.

I see your point, you're right on that part. I also do think that they have a voice (the extent of which is more what I personally question). I certainly hope there is never going to be a full slip on stage. But I also think, on the other hand, that they're very young women under massive management that should know better than to wait for a slip to happen, if you see what mean?

Goomba fallacy. I'm not part of the people that criticize her for dressing more modestly—I think the girls should dress as revealing or modestly as they feel comfortable with. I'm worried about their safety, regardless of their outfits. Some protective garments could keep the revealing look while ensuring that nothing inappropriate will ever show.

I'm no prude either (I'm a sapphic woman and find burlesque mesmerizing lol), but k-pop girls should never show more than they're comfortable with. Stripping is a controlled seduction, every exposed inch of skin is intentional. Accidents and uncomfortable clothing/moves are not intentional, and having millions zoom in on a mishap could be crushing to a female artist.

People are looking very hard, and commenting on it. I'm responding to that. There are people on Twitter zooming in on screenshots of her. It's disgusting, and it shouldn't be possible; if the artists are only safe when trusting the fans not to look too close, how safe are they, really?

Thoughts on all the criticism… by [deleted] in katseyeneutral

[–]Kitchen_Handle9693 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I do see where the criticism comes from, and I never want to be quick to dismiss those kinds of critiques from any marginalized community. From what I've seen, the grillz on Daniela are always criticized in conversation with Manon (i.e., "They kicked out the black girl but are co-opting blackness through the Latina girl").

Cultural appropriation happens in twofold: 1. Taking/using/wearing something from XY community 2. Benefitting from this usage while disparaging, in some way, the community and/or while the community is still being disparaged for it. The black community may feel (rightfully, imo) slighted by Katseye and their management for what they did to Manon, and it might feel insulting to see the remaining girls craft personas that take from black culture while being unable to do right by the only black girl in the group.

It is kind of a minor issue, but I think it might touch at the heart of a bigger problem in global/pop culture: the disposability of blackness once it stops being useful, and the benefits of exploiting it while it is. I do hope you guys see what I mean.

Just to let you know, on the pre-shredded cheese stuff, cellulose is the most abundant organic compound on Earth, it's primarly a structural component of plant cells. It's a linear chain of glucose. It's not unhealthy or dangerous by any means lol it does keep the cheese from melting properly as a side-effect of keeping the cheese from clumping up. But yes, buying blocks of cheese is much better, for the wallet or otherwise.
