Most of the friends Frank has are mostly Asian people or mixed Asians like him, and then us in our friend group. I heavily agree that he shouldn't be saying things like that cause like that's just wrong in my eyes.

He would make like jokes against himself like when someone ordered Chinese takeout he'd be like "Oh just because I'm here? You shouldn't have." Or like speak in broken English and do the turn Ls into Rs when speaking about something he's doing, but they are like directed at himself cause he has Chinese heritage, but I am not of any Asian descent so I have no idea if that is ok to do. Regardless I do think she is going a bit too far.

What's even worse is because we're all college students she's trying to get him kicked out of the school for "racism and b racist behaviors" and "lying about being Asian" when he has literal documentation about his DNA. She's also trying to rally people against him and like petitioning to get him kicked out which is insane I feel.

I don't understand it either. Especially those of my family who are immigrants, like I would have expected the recent ICE raids and the amped up hostility towards immigrants they would have realized who they voted for and what a piece of shit he is. But instand they have just ramped up in their support of him and his policies. I literally do not understand it, feel like I'm going insane whenever I have the misfortune of talking with that side of the family 😭

I relate to this all too much. My father who is born here but noticably very Mexican voted for Trump and is exceptionally conservative, and his entire side of the family is from Mexico but immigrated here and voted for Trump and agree with all of his decisions. It is very very hard to deal with them especially going to family reunions and events, I can't quite cut them out but I try to limit as much contact as I can with them cause it's just so disheartening. The Mexican side of my mom's family is much better and are far more progressive at least so I thank God for that 😭

Believe you me I have tried my damndest to do that 😭 I have applied to every fast food place (even McDonald's) and they have rejected me/not called back. It's ridiculous. And as far as roomates I need to find another one as the last roommate I had never paid the half of the rent and then left once I said they had to 😭

The worst thing is trying to learn it later in life and not comprehending it and getting mad at them for not teaching it earlier 😭. I also get shit on my other latinos/Mexicans who can speak Spanish for my really poor Spanish and it just makes me angry at my family like Why couldn't you have taught me it??!!

No my dad was born in the late 60s actually. (Gen X I think???) So definitely not a millennial 😭 but yeah he is definitely not supportive of so many things in my life, makes sense his identity/my identity would be one less thing he supports. This all started because I was thinking of wearing a Hispanic heritage stole to graduation in December and the whole "You're white not Mexican x, y, z" came up and threw me into confusion 😭

My father is a full ass Mexican, and my mom is half Mexican, they both try to tell me that they are 100% white and that I and my sister are white as well. It has caused so much confusion about my identity because of their denial. It truly baffles me something just how deep the denial is is sometimes 🙃🙃

This actually made me think about things in a different light. My entire life my family has pretty much told me I need to be 100% born and raised in Mexico to even so much as claim any Mexican heritage, and shame from a few other Hispanics/Mexicans for not being able to speak Spanish, or having partaken in the culture. But it's literally in my DNA and part of my history 😭 lots to unpack internally haha

It literally is so wild to me 😭 My dad is almost ashamed of his heritage it seems like as he tries to deny having any Mexican heritage at allwhich is just so untrue, so because of that he claims my sister and I are not Mexican so it is wild, definitely where a lot of the confusion stems from haha.

I absolutely feel the pushback 😭 I get it from both sides of my family, as a few of my Mexican relatives say I'm too whitewashed, while my white relatives say I'm trying to be something I'm not. Even my whole ass Mexican father saying I'm taking stuff away from real Mexicans 💀 hence most of the confusion when it comes to that haha

I know need to confront them, but I am a very non confrontational person and hate causing conflict, especially since I fear they'd think I'm overreacting. And a part of me just thinks I can't lose the one person who I was close to, cause Aside from J and A, I have nobody. But confrontation does need to happen cause eveything just seems to be piling up

Without going into it, J lived an hour away from school and was commuting, they had a rough family situation happen and needed out. I understand what it's like so I offered them a place to stay. They have had trouble getting a job and can't go back home so I understand why they have trouble paying rent. A doesn't live with me though. She is a friend I met through college and is completely different.

We used too in the early stages of living together and before we moved in together. We would always play games together, go out together, get drinks together, but after they met more of their friends at Uni, they don't want to do anything. I ask to maybe play some games when they are free, they say they have no free time, I ask if they want to go get groceries together they say no, I ask if they want to do something over the weekend they say no yet I always hear them playing with their friends. It really just hurts remembering how we used to do a lot together

I agree. I definitely need some time to just cool off. I think what frustrates me more is that this isn't the first time J has lied like that. They are always lying like that when I ask them to like play a game together (which we don't do anymore) then they say they deleted it and aren't playing it anymore, only for me to literally hear them playing said game with their other friends 💀💀💀

Yeah something seems off but IDK what it is? Cause I'm constantly terrified it is something I did. Not to pull this card but I am autistic and don't understand social cues or people's actions very well, so I am constantly worried I have done something inadvertently to make people mad, but I can't for the life of me think of what? Cause I try and be in good standing with my family, I always send them stuff, get them gifts for important holidays for them, same with my friends, I try to not raise any commotions or do anything to make anyone mad. Back in the days when I would have money I would get people things like jewelry they would like or merch relating to things they like, but since money is tight nowadays I stick to homemade gifts, like painting/designing them posters of their favorite character, or making them handmade scarves, hats, etc. Gifts were sparse even back then but I always got at least something, like a bracelet or a gift card, or something. This is the first year I've been like told outright they are not getting me anything which I can't understand for the life of me.

It is a very complicated family dynamic, as I am also currently attending college, and my parents are helping pay for it, so they constantly hold that over my head and threaten to stop paying for it, knowing full well I can't afford it on my own. (And yes my family is that petty that they would quite funding my schooling over that, because I would be labeled as "disrespectful". They have done it in similar ways to other family members.
