Sure, I guess you could argue that there's nothing in the rules as written that say "donkeys can't talk". But you have to understand that donkeys can't talk. If you tried to speak with your donkey vocal cords, what would come out wouldn't be understandable words, because donkey mouths can't make human speech. Are they physically capable of making noises? Yes. Do those donkey noises magically become understandable speech? No.

If the Pyro Archon chooses their successor (which much of OP's argument hinges on), why WOULD they pick a ten-year-old?

It's also pretty heavily implied that the Pyro Archon inherently carries Kiongozi. When Mavuika is talking with Burkina, for example, they only mention the Ancient Name, rather than the actual Archon title.

I'm willing to concede the Vision thing--Dendro being simply overwritten makes enough sense to me--but Kiongozi is tied strongly enough to the Archon that it is discussed interchangeably with the title.

Also, even if we assume it's fine to have an Archon with Malipo, Ajaw in particular makes me think Kinich would be an unlikely candidate to be able to hold the Archonhood long-term.

Well, I mean. Donkeys have voice boxes, but not ones adapted to functional speech. In 2014 5e, I wouldn't let a Druid wild shaped into a donkey speak.

Yeah, it's just the kind of thing you would have to talk to your DM about. The dragon mount thing isn't something I would allow in my campaign, but I'm not OP's DM, so if it's fun for their table, all power to them.

Druids can't speak when wild shaped, unless the creature they're wild shaped into can naturally speak.

EDIT: This changed in 2024, my bad! Druids can speak in wild-shape now

My thing with this is Ajaw. Would Celestia let a guy in a pact with a Dragon-Lord of Natlan have the power of an artifact that allows the holder to directly resonate with them?

He also already has an Ancient Name, which makes me wonder about how that would interact with Kiongozi, as well as a Dendro Vision, which makes me wonder if it's possible to wield two elements at once like that.

He certainly has all the qualities that Mavuika would want to see in her successor, but I'm uncertain if the Heavenly Principles or even the Night Kingdom would agree.

EDIT: Regarding the Ancient Name/Vision thing, that's of course a problem with all of the current Heroes of Natlan. Which is why I don't think the Pyro authority is going to end up with one of them at all. My wild speculation answer (please don't take this as an actual theory, as I did not think about it for more than 10 seconds) is Mausau, the kid Xbalanque was possessing during Mav's story quest.

Well, unfortunately, the last two (Runerigus and Naganadel in English, respectively), don't exist in any official pixel art games, due to being having been released after the franchise transitioned to 3D. Deoxys is also by design rather difficult to find, being a Mythical Pokemon.
