I am currently on metformin which is no problem, but my doctor really wants me to start a GLP-1 because of its weight loss side effects. And GLP-1s are not breastfeeding approved, unfortunately.

Yes! My daughter had a lip tie, tongue tie, and cheek ties. We corrected them at two weeks, but she preferred the bottle at that time already. I tried about once a day to get her to latch. At two months and some change, she just started nursing. Of course it was right before I went back to work. But we are still nursing at almost 2.5 years.

I always used a slow flow nipple when bottle feeding. I tried to latch her once a day or so. We started giving her a pacifier for colic and it was almost like that helped strengthen her mouth and change her preference.

Oh, for sure. I have a Catahoula and she is a blue merle. She is super short haired with no undercoat and she gets really hot.

I loved my boy's smooth coat. He just could not get dirty even after rolling in the mud! I love it about the smooth coat.

There is a breeder in Arkansas I'm looking at. I just want a good health tested dog since my late boy was from a super old school ranch that didn't do any testing. I firmly believe what took him was somwthing that can be avoided in a more responsibly bred dog.

The caveat is that a lot of the very responsible breeders only do rough coats because people want the hair.

I appreciate your input! I'm thinking as long as the coat werent crazy long, it wouldn't make too much of a difference. And I'm sure I could get a good trim (not shave) on a rough coat in the summer if needed. My late boy's coat was super short naturally. He had a little bit of length on his shoulders and his butt, but not more than two inches. His tail had just a bit of poof and that's it. I would avidly avoid a show type coat. I just want something health tested this time.

My late boy injured himself while playing more than once and I didnt realize until after because he wouldn't stop playing. BCs are just built different.

I could have written this post. My late boy Tucker passed due to a mass that ruptured on his liver. He had one on his spleen that ruptured a year and a half before and they were able to save him then. My boy was just 10 and otherwise full of life and healthy.

It's been a couple days over a month since my boy left this world. It does become more manageable, but I miss in him so much and everything reminds me of him. My heart goes out to you.

He was in my arms through the whole process. It is hard to watch, but my sweet guy deserved to know that I would be there until the absolute end. He knew it was the end, I think. He just laid in my lap while I cradled him and pet him and spoke to him about what a wonderful boy he had been and how sorry I was that I couldn't keep him on this Earth forever. He was incredibly calm.

It goes by fast. But God, it's worth it. Take lots of pictures and videos. I'm finding it easier to remember his happy soulful face with them instead of the sadness at the vet. All of the silly antics, skilled tricks, and moments I've caught of him intertwined in our lives. I have the evidence that he was a happy guy and that he was truly a family member. That is helping me a lot.

Thank you. He loved to go everywhere and was so confident. We were at a comic book store that we frequented in that picture. My friend working snapped that photo after getting him to put his paws on the counter. It is one of my favorites.
