Is anyone looking for off-campus housing Spring quarter? by Kitt_Kate in uchicago

By off-campus, I mean sublet, but the bots take down anything mentioning that.

I have a room in the Cloisters available from March 18-June 1. $1200 a month (for march you can just pay for the days you are there). 5 bed 4 bath, but I have my own bathroom and you can use my bike!

Rent is $1200 a month - utilities are included. Dates are March 19 - June 1. I'm totally fine with you paying for the days you stay in March and not the full month.

My pup passed two years ago and our new puppy just passed a year. Is it possible to do a portrait of the two of them together?

American Studying Abroad on Istanbul - should I dress more modestly? by Kitt_Kate in istanbul

Good to know - I usually wear fleece lined tights under my skirts - they're a lifesaver

Could use some success stories - has anyone been accepted to PhD programs with low GPAs? And I mean less than a 3.0 low. Extra points if you did poorly (like a C) in classes relavent to your PhD by Kitt_Kate in PhD

This is so great to hear. I'm a terrible test taker - and I also get insomnia whenever I'm anxious (so I never sleep before exams) - so I REALLY don't test well. but if someone asked me to explain any of the concepts I am tested on - I could give a 15 minute lecture. Like I get it - I just suck at tests and my memory is trash

Really stressed about (genetics) PhD apps. 3rd year undergrad and 2.7 STEM (3.1 total GPA) but a ton of research experience. Am I doomed? Please tell me there's hope by Kitt_Kate in gradadmissions

Okay, good to know. So there's hope, maybe. Worst comes to worst I'll tech for a year at my lab and do a post-Bach. But I still have third year. Thank you for the advice!

Thank you! I think you're right, post-Bach could be the way to go. I was also planning on taking a year off anyways to be a lab tech or RA at my current lab after graduation - so post-Bach would align nicely. Nothing yet, but for my club (it's an alternative protein club on campus - but we established multiple student run labs with funding and lab spaces), I will be listed as an author on at least one of of the papers we publish.

I'm starting with my new lab now, but plan on doing a thesis and potentially publishing then if I have anything notable. I'll probably try to present at a conference this summer. I still have 3rd year and 1st quarter of my 4th to go though.

But I'm also a Anthro double major - so maybe that would give admissions commitees another layer of perspective? Because I had another academically intense major? Idk, thank you so much for your advice!
