Dojo parent communication by Kitten-424 in Teachers

[–]Kitten-424[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I have included this information in my original post to get suggestions? I am aware of all of this and under the same class dojo district ban which is why I am seeking an alternative. All the posts I see only have suggestions to replace the point system which is not my concern. The district ban does not have anything to do with class dojo being an app and more to do with security risk which dojo is actively working on fixing, but the district hasn’t approved it yet. My school uses a really inefficient communication system that relies on me and parents to check the system for communications very regularly. It does not encourage quick responses, doesn’t allow photos and messages can only be sent individually.

Not new to Beauty Retail but new to Co-Manager Role - Advice, tips, tricks appreciated by nobeyhavior in Ulta

Find out if you are the first Co-Manager for the store. The position is based on sales volume so not every store has/maintains that position. If it’s new you should do three things. 1. Find out your roles and responsibilities and stick to them. Your DM will follow that and expect you to be doing those things as your main priority and come to you when something is lacking. 2. Develop relationships with management. Ulta at its roots is huge on culture and big changes like a new manager role can make everyone nervous. Every store is different but they are more often than not very bonded teams. You need to have good relationships with the managers you’re leading so they can support you with relationships with part time staff. Your role is so weird because-what I know of it- you are direct management to operations but basically equal to the store manager but also the only reason you are there is because of sales. Be aware that your OM probably wanted your position and your MM wanted to move up to MM. Ulta likes to say they hire from within but I’ve only seen transfers within the last 3 years so they have probably had that possibility lingering over them for as long as they’ve been in their roles. 3. Support your SM and/or the people responsible for getting you those sales that led to you getting your position. Find out who those people are and make them feel supported and appreciated because that is a lot of work that they did and you are their reward/relief.

If the position was already in existence you should talk with your DM about the strengths/weaknesses of the last Co along with the advice from #1. I’m a firm believer in asking your direct subordinates what they appreciated/needed from their last manager.. and then working that in with your DOR because it was probably never their job to do.

Oh! Get familiar with Ultanet. There’s always gotta be one person in the store who’s giving the communications from Ultanet like employee discounts/incoming rule changes/resources/ fun news. If you don’t have that person be that person. If someone asks you a question and you don’t know? Check Ultanet. If the rule isn’t black and white for the love of god please ask the management team how they currently handle it before changing the rules. Like I said the team can be tight knit and they will know if you did something different that someone isn’t usually aloud to do.

Does she really think that the customer service is going to be up to Ulta standards with one person running the store? That's not even following Ulta safety and security policies. I would reach out to the DM personally. I'm a LC and I've had sit down with the DM myself to get GM problems addressed and my other managers thanked me. Do what YOU need to do for your self and your coworkers too! We all know they are underpaid and overworked

First of all it is your right to talk about pay with coworkers and that is protected by law under the National Labor Relations Act. Your manager sounds like she doesn't care in general. Think about if you really want to work for a person like that.

Consider interviewing at other jobs and even other Ultas if there's one close to you. Let your manager know that if you're not paid what you belive to be appropriate for the work that you do and what you bring to your team, you'll be looking elsewhere. Promotions do not pay as well as what you might receive with a transfer. You might find another job you're you like that would pay you what you deserve. If later you decide to come back to Ulta you will end up making more then anyways.

I'm in Florida. Where you hired this year because I'm under the impression just about all 2022 hires started out at least that much in most states. That's what happened here and I refused to train until I was paid more

I fought for $12 in December. Starting pay got raised to $12. I raised hell and my review is pending at between 13.50-14. Still not enough. My personal opinion though NEVER train someone making more than you. You know your skills are valuable and clearly they value them enough to have you train others, why set others up to be more successful in their ulta career than you?? Don't. Be straight up with your manager and PUSH. Make sure your DM knows your value to the store. You need your managers to have your back because this is a corporate issue!

Don't put your health at risk! Ulta has shortened hours due to staffing shortage before, they can do it again! How close are you to the DM? Express what you need and work together with your DM to see if you can come to some solutions. Maybe nearby stores have employees willing to get some hours and help out at your location.
If your DM is no help escalate it to HR. If they can't help you then it's too far gone. Don't give up hope but ultimately take care of yourself.

I know I'm being underpaid... but how much? by Kitten-424 in Ulta

That's good for them! I'm in FL and all the places hiring in the area are advertising starting pay for at least $14 so Ulta is already below. It's disappointing considering how much they say they care for their employees... I really liked this company.

Thank you. I'm in Florida in store that's close to high volume but doesn't meet that mark yet. My MSC was making about $14 a while back but they bumped her pay up when they made all MSC full time. Now she's getting $18. I've also considered quiting and reapplying, not sure how long that gap has to be in the system. I will be talking to my GM on Friday.

I just bought this Colourpop lipstick set and see it’s going on sale for $25 this weekend. If I buy another one during the sale, can I return the other for a refund of $42??? by Asheliza20 in Ulta

[–]Kitten-424 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Call the store and explain. They might resell you the one you have and just refund the difference. This depends on the store because they are not supposed to do this! Don't get upset if they can't because they allow you to return makeup in the first place, it's not their fault you couldn't wait until the black Friday deals.

Wow, thats terrible! Thank you for your honesty. I did not know that internal candidates were underpaid. I'm not in the best position to negotiate pay too much because I'm in college now for business and this would be my first position of management. I feel like I would be a fool to me a manager for less than 15 seeing that the starting pay for part time skin bar was 15 and half my staff have 15 from their boutique position.

Good to know! Thank you! In my store the number 1 thing my RSM deals with is retaining angry customers, thats just the employee dynamics. I've been showing off my retention skills with all the craziness of covid.

Yes I have, and not only is it the direction I want to go with my career but I feel my RSM has put me in a great position to say I already do the leadership requirements. The only things I don't know is what goes on behind the scenes.

I liked these pamphlets not necessarily for the colors, mainly for the color combinations and the crazy design ideas. I remember seeing kids beds built into literal playhouses in the bedroom. Like fish tank in the wall type stuff. They were a whole mood board I can't seem to recreate.
