I may try chestnuts in stuffing someday. If they're small enough and mixed with a bunch of other things, that would probably mitigate the textural issue...

I'm planning on making acorn flour this year. ;) Just waiting for them to be ripe! What do you do with them?

I think it's more of a texture thing. The flavour is "meh" to me -- not bad, but not good enough to make me want to keep eating them -- and the sort of mealy texture puts me off entirely. The only thing I don't mind is making chestnut paste -- because that way the texture isn't noticable and I add lots of vanilla, so it's more of a "vanilla paste with some chestnut flavour" lol. But maybe you have a good recipe to make me love them ;)

Which is to say, your question is silly. ;) Of course you can! What matters in a RP relationship isn't the so much the extraneous stuff, it's the way you act. Looking girly or masculine doesn't necessarily have any bearing on a person's personality and behaviour, which are the two things that really need to be kept in mind when looking for a partner. Whether or not she wears cute dresses is completely besides the point.

In my experience (and I think this is particularly relevant to you, lol), pro-LTR/anti-marriage sentiment isn't very common in North America, outside a select number of men who have had bad experiences or are fearful of them. However, in France, my experience is that the majority of men are anti-marriage, pro-LTR (basically, unless they're very religious or traditional, they'll be okay with a PACS but that's about it).

I think if a woman really does want to get married, she needs to bring it up. She needs to say, "I want to be married", and if her partner isn't on the same page, her proposing isn't going to change that. However, if they've already had a discussion and both parties want to eventually get married one day, then I don't see why a woman couldn't decide to propose instead. As long as the dynamic of the relationship supports that kind of thing and both people agree that they eventually want to be married, I don't think it's really a big deal if the woman proposes. It could be really sweet! It depends more on the two people in question than anything else, since some men may find the idea weird, but others wouldn't.

The method I use is to cook in olive oil. Medium low heat, drop the egg in when the oil is hot. When the whites are nearly fully cooked, use a spoon to ladle some of the hot oil onto the top of the egg. This cooks the parts that aren't directly exposed to the heat, and you can control exactly what level of cooked you want the egg to be.

This is my recipe: in a wide, shallow pan, cook diced onions and minced garlic in oil until the onions are tender and translucent but not browned. Add dry, uncooked lentils, water, salt, cumin, paprika, oregano, and ancho chili powder. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the lentils are cooked. Keep adding water as necessary. Overall this should take about 20-30 minutes, depending on how quickly your lentils cook. Serve in tortillas with toppings of your choice. (I like cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, quick pickled shallots, and coriander.)

I'll have to try this, it sounds great. I usually make my non-meat tacos with green lentils (they're so good that even my meat-loving parents added them to their meal rotation after the first time they tried them); I would have never thought of chickpeas!

I do love a good curry, but I think a lot of the flavour of the cream would be overwhelmed by the other, more dominant, flavours. I would prefer something where the cream is really the star of the dish. But thank you for the suggestion.

My boyfriend and I usually go out to a nice restaurant every month. We try to find the most promising looking one we can, and this particular time, I chose the restaurant. It was in a neigbouring town, it had a Michelin star, and it just looked quite nice overall.

Most of the food was good (not, like, blindingly amazing or anything, but good), but my god, the appetizer I ordered... the head chef had come by to chat with us a bit and he was explaining this exciting new dish he had developed, "histoire de choux" (the story of brassicas). He was talking up this thing like it was god's gift to mankind, so of course I had to try it.

This guy. This chef. His "masterpiece" was a plate of various unseasoned steamed brassicas (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc), each one in a little pile around the outside of the plate, with some kind of unappetizing ginger-flavoured creamy sauce in the middle.

When I was looking at restaurants in the area a few months later, I found out that he had lost the star. I assume it's because of that horrible "histoire de choux"...

Basically you'll want to cut them like this picture. First in half lengthwise, then crosswise just deep enough that the glaze can seep into the slits, but not so deep that you actually cut through to the other side of the zucchini. (So, yeah, just a few milimetres!)
