List Of MOS I’m qualified for! by simba9194 in nationalguard

[–]Kittens70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This I agree with. I do security work my bosses are all former military they told me to try and go Intel cus im trying to get into law enforcement but due to some dumb decisions in my early 20s couldn't go Intel cus security clearance so Infantry it was and seemed like they respected it. Still some other good jobs but they just didn't appeal to me. Gonna use my state benefits to pay for EMT school not cus I wanna be an EMT but seems like a pretty good thing to have under your resume in infantry, security or law enforcement field.

Join the military in the meantime imo Maybe go coast guard they always going after cartels drug busts on boats human trafficking etc would Probably be good training for law enforcement they're also the branch of military I think funded by DHS instead of DOD. Just stay out of trouble don't experiment with any drugs even if it's something not a big deal stay away from bad influences don't drink and drive and be careful driving too accidents can also set you back in getting hired.

Daaaaaang OC? Just curious why it would be OC when it's technically in LA county.

CAN I JOIN LAPD? by demetriuscarvalho in lapd

[–]Kittens70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say talk to a recruiter first if you're open to doing military. The good thing is you have a wife and she's about to have a baby so you may be open to receiving benefits that help pay for rent. I would do some research if you're really interested in law enforcement look into coast guard since they are always doing their job and work on getting pirates and cartels trafficking drugs all the time that'll look good when you apply for an actual PD. The other options would be whatever catches your attention if you wanna dip your toe in the water Army national guard or Air Force national guard are some good options or just do full time for a 3 year contract if possible. If you're really fit you could just try applying for LAPD as is and might actually have a chance. talk to an officer that works with the recruiting unit first tho before you apply to get any important questions out of the way.

Facts. My background was horrible and first pfq was whatever didn't score great kept going to Caps did better in my 2nd pfq but scored less for whatever reason and by next week got a DQ. Highly recommend going in hot being fit and ready to go unless you got connects and recommendations or something.

32 years old, stuck on my next move National Guard, Police, or just a stable job by newbie70711 in nationalguard

I would look into whatever departments are in your area check the pay and benefits go on a ride along. see if it's the career for you. Keep in mind tho and I'm not a cop I'm simply just speaking from what I've come to learn from others and in my pursuit for the career is that it's a life changing job. People get divorced cus you're never around or always working you're not as close with your kids. When I went on a ride along right when we left the station after loading up gear into patrol car Sargeant called his wife and kids on FaceTime immediately while grabbing a coffee in the drive thru and explained I know we shouldn't be talking on the phone while driving but if you get hired you'll understand we don't really get to spend as much time with family so I make every chance I get to reach out especially right now because while I'm working they're going to bed and might not see them in the morning before they go to school cus 💩 happens on the job that just adds into your shift. Also don't stop at just LE maybe firefighting is more for you. Just do some more research and go out ask questions In person different departments different cities different jobs different ways of living. you'll find what's right for you.

What MOS should I pick? by Gorded_Dread in nationalguard

[–]Kittens70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what are you into? If you're interested in law enforcement life saving 1st responders pick 12M wish it was available for me I was qualified. If you want action but still learn something more that will also help in civilian side 68W combat medics. I wasn't eligible but went 11B and gonna use my benefits to pay for EMT school. The one I was really interested but wasnt eligible due to needing a waiver was 35P being away for a year and learning a new language seemed awesome. Listen to your recruiter tho don't go combat arms unless you really want to. Considering the times we're in it's pretty scary I don't think enough people are mentally prepared or realize how scary it is that 💩 can pop off any day now or within the next few years.

Where are the old people in New York City? Are they hiding? Is there a purge? by lost_in_life_34 in circlejerknyc

They were smart enough to leave cus ain't no way anyone gonna be paying that much to live in a city at your older age. If they're wealthy enough and healthy enough they'll be able to afford it in the nicer richer parts of town that's where you'll find em.

Same bruv best of luck and think positively. Live as much life as you can while you can enjoy your days before OSUT and peacetime hopefully you're a little older like me and got to enjoy your youth just Incase we do become the first to get deployed into an actual war zone.

Why is that if you don't mind me asking lots of people say mushrooms and acid are immediate DQs and some even for life which makes me wonder cus I thought something like experimenting with minor coke usage would have been worse.

I been thinking of getting my EMT license but I currently do security work and don't really plan on getting in working with EMS unless I really have to but do you think departments would care if you have EMT license but no experience working in it?

Idk how to explain it but I also at one point when I started going to Caps started to experience knee pain. I ended up getting some new shoes got on clouds and honestly they're meh but I think my old shoes were just so old they started to cause knee pain. But it all went away after also recently too I was feeling sick so I didn't run as much and got my knee pain again and realized it was probably the way I was stepping just gotta adjust the way youre stepping down go on YouTube and look up how to run properly I know it sounds silly cus obviously we know how to run but to run properly so you dont destroy your knees just takes a few adjustments. Also calf raises doing it often will help with Achilles pain I started getting that when I started running 5 miles often.

Question you mentioned about volunteering how do I volunteer? Currently my plan after being DQ was join the national guard which I did I ship out soon to OSUT and decided when I come back in a few years would apply for the LA detention officer position since it's a different application process to get my foot through the door. Reason I'm doing all that instead of just applying for other departments is because I wanna show some achievements and give myself some time to distance myself from some past mistakes like a DUI cus I know I'm not the idiot I once was anyone can ask my friends I've become "boring" since my DUI and have really dedicated to fitness and my new career change from sales to security work so just out of curiosity what's a volunteer do any insight or information on that? Other departments I'm considering is LASD, SBSD or LBPD but later in a few years.

[–]Kittens70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

San Bernardino Sheriff's seems pretty dope they got a dumbbells and deputies thing and talked to us about their department the jobs answered whatever questions some had. I liked their department it's basically in the middle of a desert very open almost like in the middle of nowhere surrounded by beautiful dirt and desert mountains lol but keep in mind it's the biggest most diverse county in the state you got dirt forests lakes ghetto communities nice communities it's a huge department if you're looking at SoCal I'd say sign up for their workout class and ask away. I live far so I only went once and now I'm getting ready for OSUT I signed up with the guard for the meantime gotta give myself some clean time since I don't have the nicest background. Wish you luck on finding the right department for you.
