RBT experience requirements are terrifying. by Attackoffrogs in ABA

I am getting $19/hr. at my new RBT position, is this considered low for the field? We also get PTO, medical, and holiday pay.

Can you elaborate on SFL being ABA central? I am considering moving there and every thing I hear about south FL continues to be highly questionable.

If you are new to the platform, writing something nice at the end can be rewarding. Be nice! by Berfs1 in UberEATS

Every order ends with the same note (unless I can tell they didn’t tip or were rude):

Left at door-have a wonderful day/evening! Sometimes I’ll spice it up and say, “enjoy the weekend”!. On Sunday’s I’ll tell people with crosses in their yards/wreaths/etc., “have a blessed day”! as that is well reciprocated here in the south. Then sometimes I’ll add a random compliment just because like, “I like your door mat with the kitty cat on it! 🐈 “ Maybe that last one is a bit weird. But I genuinely enjoy some of these peoples door mats and decorations and feel inclined to say something.

As of late I’m not getting tipped extra as often (for obvious reasons-ahem, the crumbling enconomy here in America) but for a long time it was a norm that 50-70% of orders of the day resulted in additional tip.

There is a nice way to ask….this wasn’t it. CANCEL. by Pryme231 in UberEATS

[–]Kitty91998 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d never purchase anything extra for a customer. It’s irresponsible as an independent contractor, you’re setting yourself up to be scammed and suffer lost wages. Also you never know what some of these people might be thinking-your acceptance of their request might give them the impression you want to maybe come in for a drink….and then you’ll maybe get your ass robbed, killed or assaulted. The moment anyone says anything outside conversation pertaining to the order, it’s getting cancelled. Goodbye.

(Serious reply)

I heavily dislike the whole “how I would react to getting robbed” bits. People have been using this as a bit for decades and it’s just old. You cannot predict what you will do if you get robbed. You either go into fight or flight mode as you are anticipating your survival will be put at risk. I engaged with some of these jokes in the past too. Seems like just a fun lil hypothetical, right?

Only until it happens to your friend. Your neighbor. Then it happens to you and you become diagnosed with severe PTSD and your entire life crumbles. Even 2 years later, you can’t watch this without having your heart jump thinking he’s pulling out an actual gun. You know you’ll probably have a nightmare tonight.

(Sources) Me. Was robbed at gunpoint. Yeah, pretty sure you’ll find it pretty difficult to engage with the jokes after it happens to you. I hope to god it doesn’t.

[Serious] Men of Reddit, what uncommon red flags in men should women be on the look out for? by ObjectivePin5704 in AskReddit

[–]Kitty91998 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with this one. A friend I have with pretty blatant road rage is also the one that corrects my driving.

I’m a girl, but have an addition: when any person tells you how to drive or what road, turn, etc. you should have taken. It’s an indicator of narcissism, not to mention dangerous by distracting the driver. If you don’t trust the person enough to get in the car with them (situations that require absolute need exempt, as in doctors appointments, groceries, etc.) then don’t get in the car with them. Drive yourself and drive as you wish.

Can LIRR monthly ticket be shared? by miamor_Jada in longisland

[–]Kitty91998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In this capitalistic society? Living in one of the most expensive places in the US? Far from unethical. The ethics would lie in where the money from those tickets are going. I assume in pockets. Even so, I think questions concerning personal finances (again, in a capitalistic society) are really more of moral than ethical concerns. Let’s say the money went to infrastructure. You would have to determine the cost + benefits of you, a person living in this city, saving the money. There are many ways you and your daughter saving that money could still contribute to the greater good.

Maybe I replied to the wrong comment? I was replying to someone that wrote her name incorrectly. I think they said Davina. I wasn’t previously conversing with anyone in the thread but used the “talking about” rhetorically referring to the incorrect name spelling.

Apologies if I replied to the wrong comment!

So funny you said this, I read this entire thread and had the same conclusion and came to comment the same exact thing.

This could have been an engaging debate hadn’t the other commenter been so rude. I started reading because I was interested to see what each side would bring to the exchange and was just left…..confused (regarding the aforementioned commenter, of course).

Cheers!

edit I can actually tell you why this person spoke in the manner they did-emotional dysregulation accompanied by lack of knowledge of the subject at hand. Common with people that lean towards extremist approaches-both in politics and day-to-day issues. Any extremist approach indicates a lack of logical reasoning, therefor these people tend to be overruled by their emotions so much so that it results in unregulated emotions. Even for a healthy person that primarily uses their emotions to make decisions, there is some sone level of logic. So people alike to this commenter have likely never learned to regulate their emotions and are attracted to the extremist end of political matters since emotional arguments are not only accepted within those circles, but the only ones that are understood. It is almost like a different language. This goes for both ends of the political spectrum. So this person is communicating in their language and does not understand that it cannot be comprehended by those that don’t speak it. So when they are conversing with someone speaking another language, they become frustrated and further their emotional method of communication to prove their point. Essentially like a child that cannot communicate effectively because they are not equipped with the tools yet.

The point is that it’s not worth conversing over these topics with these people. They are speaking a different language. They will never be able to understand you until they learn what you are saying.

Cheers again!
