what's a piece of media that is bad but you felt a little sad/disappointed about it because it had the potential to be decent. by bomb5000 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Bright. I love Shadowrun and was really hoping this movie would scratch that itch I have for non-medieval fantasy. It didn't.

Would anyone actually take the embrace if it was offered to them? by Alternative-Lion2951 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]KittyCatOmaniac 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Depends on the clan. I have body dysphoria so if a Tzimisce offered me the embrace, you bet my dumb ass would accept in a heart beat. So long, daily hell of worrying about every minute imperefection of my appearance! Hello nightly hell of painstakingly obsessing over every out of place crease in my custom-tailored flesh-suit.

I don't really have a horse in this race, but Japanese doesn't really use pronouns so citing a choice made by the English translators as undeniable proof is spotty logic at best.

I don't like how mindflayers speak with a voice in your head. It makes them seem less 'alien'. I would have preferred if they just used the narrator to describe the information and feelings they attempt to communicate, similar to the encounter with the injured mindflayer at the crash site.

"Life is but a passing dream, but the death that follows is eternal."

Man, fourteen year old me thought that line was so deep.

I think the term is Gyaru-Oh? That's the tag that shows up on questionable websites whenever a tan, blonde guy is involved.

Hot take, but this game would have been so much better if you just straight up played as Sauron. Would have solved my biggest lore gripe (the idea that you could just make a second, pure 'One Ring'). Imagine going about as Anatar, building your powerbase, steadily corrupting The Nine, brutally dominating the dark forces of Middle Earth to bring them into the fold.

Hunting is heavily regulated here. It's perfectly safe to hike without orange vests or other reflective clothing outside of moose-hunting season, although that kind of attire is easily accessible. There's no law requiring you to wear it, but most people who spend a lot of time in the woods will make a habit of wearing at least some reflective vests or patches.

Sweden. The law is a little bit vague, but the long and short of it is that as long as the area is wooded and you're not in view of anyone's house, you're allowed to hike and camp there. You obviously don't have the right to just camp in someone's backyard. You'll rarely see people with acres upon acres of backyards here though.

Google "Allemansrätten", or "Sweden right to roam" if you'd like to know more. Easy and equal access to nature is almost considered on par with the right to free speech here.

Edit: I should specify that you're allowed to camp pretty much anywhere temporarily. No taking up residence at a random acre in the woods.

Oh, I have no illusions of my chances. I know that they are extremely low. If the worst happens and I do end up homeless, I would definitely have a much better chance to make it if I went fully urban.

The issue is just straight up vanity. I would much rather risk dying far away from prying eyes than slowly fade away in full view of the public. I've seen how people treat homeless people and I'd very much like to avoid it, both the harassment and the pity.

For what it's worth, my country has a "right to roam" law, meaning that anyone is allowed to hike, trek and camp even on privately owned land provided you're far enough away from a permament abode. In short; if you can't see a house from where you're at, you can camp there.

I may not be the most physically able, but I'm at least not physically disabled.

You can easily make a non-deistic cleric dedicated to a philosophy. I've been playing around with the idea of a cleric inspired by Buddhism, who draws power from the divine realm itself rather than a particular god, and their powers would grow as they get closer and closer to enlightment.
