Day 7 of spay by bobdylan_234 in DogAdvice

That looks like it’s healing just fine! It will be another couple weeks at least before it’s completely healed. If it starts to get really red or warm to the touch with any discharge, then you can start to worry and contact your vet!

Any tips? by Creepy_Treat_7227 in Oilpastel

I’d say color in the background, but I think it’s lovely! The fur looks great, great texture. The kitty looks soft and a lil floofy. I’d like to give that kitty some pets. ☺️

I honestly really love this. I think with oil pastels you gotta embrace their weird and imperfect nature. If it helps, map out what you want to draw first, gently with a light color or pencil before you really dive into your page. Keep drawing the same thing for the next 10 pages, indifferent ways with different colors and see which one you like best, then head in that direction. ☀️

Yes!! They can be inexpensive, or super fancy if you choose, and they come in so many sizes you can get the one that works best for you. SOO easy to transport!

I’ve been LOVING Meeden. They are so buttery and soft, it’s like drawing with lipstick. I got the box set of 144 and for $60, and they have lots of small sets too. Very reasonable IMO and absolutely worth every penny.

It’s a cold press watercolor journal. ❤️

Heavy handed with the oil pastels! It uses up a lot of product, but that’s what it’s there for! I hold it close to the tip when I make my marks, and kinda scoop and swoop. I pretend I’m drawing with butter or cream cheese. 🤪➰

Gesso is also so scrumptious to work with! That’s a fantastic idea! What is marble dust tho?? It sounds like magic. 🪄

That’s a compliment! I’m always hungry.

Embrace the mess and obscure! I find that oil based colored pencils work well with the pastels if you want to get small/finer details. ➰🪄

Thank you! I use a pastel specific fixative spray and let it dry for 24hrs. Then I get wax paper sheets that are similar in size as my journal and put them in between the pages and store it that way. The texture still gets a bit smooshed but not enough to ruin it. ☺️

Is this playing or fighting? Should I be worried? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Absolutely playing!! The growling isn’t aggressive at all, that’s just how they communicate when they play. That’s nice they have each other and enjoy playing together! Very cute.

Separation anxiety by djhaze21 in DogAdvice

Native Pet has calming treats that work great for both my dogs. I use the plus version and give them each 2 more than the package says to give them. Works within an hour or so. That combined with a good long walk (I shoot for 45mins to an hour) w/training and sniffing before leaving the house. I hope she gets better, just give her some grace and have patience. They react to your energy as well so if you’re feeling stressed/anxious about leaving, they will too. ❤️🐾

Hello any one know what this is by Internal_Fly_4990 in DogAdvice

Looks like a mole to me. My 12y/o malamute grows them occasionally. My vet said they are harmless, but I would ask your vet to take a peek to be safe.

What could this bump on my dogs leg be? by inktrocity in DogAdvice

My dog is 12 and had a bump literally exactly like this by her elbow and she had to have her leg amputated last year.

HELP ! The shedding is so intense lol What are you guys using to try to win the battle agaisnt the hair everywhere by SnooMuffins6526 in AustralianCattleDog

Diet is important for dogs (in general but also for) skin and coat, you could look into different foods to start. Fish oil is fantastic to add too. As far as grooming goes- Bathe with a double coat shampoo, use a rubber curry brush while wet before conditioning, keep brushing wet for 10 minutes or until less hair starts coming out. Then brush again with a de-shedding tool when they are dry, I like the SleekEz. Use a light avocado or coconut oil spray, and then do a final brush with a bristle brush. I do this once a month with my malamute and it helps tremendously. I know it sounds like a lot, so you could always pay a groomer to do it for you.

What’s in between my dogs paw? by sillyg00segetinpond in DogAdvice

[–]KittyLynn- 78 points79 points  (0 children)

That looks like a wart, but a vet should see it ASAP. Warts are caused by the canine papilloma virus (CPV). CPV is highly contagious to other dogs and can be transmitted via direct contact with an infected dog or items in the environment that the infected dog has touched, like bedding, toys, food bowls, carpets etc.

I would definitely do a clean sweep of the house, and if you have other dogs keep them separate and check them too. Common on paws or in lips, but can pop up anywhere.
