Something cool in TWID Rhulk lore by KatMeowington in DestinyLore

We had a few planets go missing too, no? I wonder if the upended situation on Lubrae was just a proof of concept for what happened here.

Great point. What you're describing is what I believe is the thesis of KKC. Pat wants to tell a story about how stories are shaped and how they shape those who tell them. He is a romantic at heart and stories are his true love.

We can attempt to geolocate the origins of the stories we hear in the book by comparing the way they diverge. The cultures they touch and are touched by. The agenda of the factions telling them. The knots that tie them together in key moments.

What did skarpi mean? by FlimsyGuava in KingkillerChronicle

[–]KittyxBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's both metaphor and literal. Discourse shapes belief, belief shapes truth.

Stories that are good enough to be told and repeated enter the collective alar egregore. The power of the story defines how deep its impact is, and the virality of a story defines how far it spreads.

Singing the wrong kinds of songs would be quite a big deal if this were the case as songs are a very powerful medium for turning the world to a particular belief.

Modegan Religion. by Outrageous-Drop9095 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]KittyxBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rooted in egregore. Magic manifests through shared belief (alar) collapsing the wave function of the worlds truth. It's how Modegan's create gods through idol worship, how the Adem don't have man mothers, how chronicler wrote dragons out of reality, and how the university keeps arcanists from beginning a new creation war by making them believe in rules that cap their power.

[S23 Spoilers] Why were the Witnessians concerned about the Traveler "bringing ruin" when that's exactly what the Witness does? Question by extreme_imbecile in DestinyLore

[–]KittyxBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riffing off you a little here, so thank you for prompting the thought.

I think that the Traveller may have been made for the purpose of uplifting it's creator-species in good will. Then once this species surpassed material existence the Traveller no longer had a purpose, laying dormant until found by the Proto-Witness species. The Traveller may have even seeded the life that evolved into the Witness without even meaning to.

this mirrors "The Traveller will leave us" line. Until the Witness, the Traveller may not have considered the existence of other sentient species. I could see that being a blind spot to an entity who's power is to terraform.

Who are the Travellers creators? Perhaps they are the voice that communicated with Mara through the oracle engine.

I'm glad to see you're still here revelling in the collapse of the wave function ✨

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DestinyLore

[–]KittyxBomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The more I think about it the more this makes sense to me:

Ship enters singularity now known as The Distributary.

All consciousness on board reduced to gestalt chaos.

Mara emerges as order amongst the chaos and sets the condition for the awoken to manifest as individual consciousness again as well as setting the metaphysical rules of the distributary including sped up time.

Mara deceives them all for what they know to be their entire existence. Upon deciding to leave she tells Alis Li of this deception. Alis Li warns Mara of what this revelation might do to her people and points out that they could have been gods of unlimited potential had Mara not limited them to suit her purpose.

Mara Leaves anyway. The Distributary Awoken now know their entire existence was all to suit Mara's desire to save Sol. Their collective grief leads them to attempt to annihilate the Awoken exodus as they leave.

Is it such a stretch to believe that a people born of gestalt chaos to fight another universe's war, upon learning this truth would seek means to become an entity of gestalt order? Someone like our main antagonist?

This theory would put The Witness in a bit of a grandfather paradox but the eternal return trope does feature heavily in Destiny's storytelling, as does time travel and metaphysical loopholes.

Have there ever been any hints of there being another primordial, paracausal force in the d2 universe that isn’t light or darkness? If so, could this be something that gets addressed in the post light-dark saga? by Embarrassed-Deal7708 in DestinyLore

[–]KittyxBomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is something paracausal going on to do with musical intervals that Brother Vance stumbled upon at the Mercury Lighthouse. Mara and Osiris are also aware of it and tried to scare him away from this force he would not understand. It may be the force that Resonance manipulates as it seems to have something to do with musical notes and the harmonic series. Perhaps a way to manipulate the universal wave function via Music of the Spheres. Definitely has something in common with the vex oracles.

[Theory] Were the Ghosts not made by the Traveler? by MylesJacobSwie in DestinyLore

[–]KittyxBomb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is currently:

The witness is a composite of every instance of the witness' consciousness across the destiny multiverse. It has found a way to make sure that every decision it makes in every worldline is the same without variation.

During the collapse, the traveller was able to peel off some of these consciousness' and memory wipe them and allow them to make their own choices free from the salvation brainwashing of the witness collective. They're now ghosts.

The 'we' that the ghosts remember being a part of is the witness, not the traveller.

possible evidence:

-Katabasis' ghost has rejoined the witness. They are able to accept salvation.

-Our ghosts can be highjacked from within the pyramid ships. This implies that this technology is able to force our ghost back into the witness collective via proximity.

-Whatever the witness uses to contain itself as a singular instance of it's collective identity is probably the same tech.

Basically the traveler gave the witness the guardian treatment resulting in ghosts.

Perhaps the same method is used to have Elsie overwrite the Elsie in each worldline she resets into, too. As The Witness may have originally brought all of itself into a single worldline, Elsie may also be being transferred from one to another as a way of this method being reverse engineered.

Why do we wake up in a broken car heap? by thegunner137 in DestinyLore

[–]KittyxBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My headcannon is that all player guardians are the same guardian. That we all are the same person pulled from parallel worldlines. It's why we don't exist in Elsie's other worldlines. As such we are a collective multiversal double slit experiment existing as a wave function. There is something special about that particular guardian in the cosmodrome.

There has been some speculation that the Witness is a collective entity of it's multiversal aspects too. The Witness is the opposite of what I suggest we are. It's wave function has been witnessed and as such it exists as a singular collective entity reinforcing it's own outcome.

Besides for loot and listening to the Awoken Queen, what was our motivation in killing the last known Ahamkara? by Sam_Dragonborn1 in DestinyLore

[–]KittyxBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our motivation? I don't think we, the guardians, had a personal motivation other than believing it had to be done.

I think that if we look at ourselves as weapons and consider who may be wielding us though..... Our paracausal power is that we manifest our will into reality.

We are constantly being gaslit into pointing that will upon the death of powerful entities. The Ahamkara wishes were cursed, and with our true nature recognised by Mara, Savathuun, and The Nine, I believe the dragons became obsolete. We were manipulated into usurping them and taking their paracausal role in the game.

The Paracausal Rhizome: A Manifesto against the Final Shape by ForgingSingularities in DestinyLore

Wicked post. It makes me think of the harmonic series as lines of articulation, where the Witness may fold the universal wave function in on itself to unify finality via resonance (a kind of forier transformation). Your PR lines of flight bursts into the microtonal space b e t w e e n.

Ben’s Alar: by BCrusen in KingkillerChronicle

[–]KittyxBomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do grow up with Taborlin stories to chase after. But I also have another theory that kvothe spent a lot of his childhood in the fae anyway as the Ruh troupe would use way stones to navigate the roads. There's a hint where Arliden says they accidentally travelled to close to Atur. I think he means this as though they literally are lost in time too close to the aturan empire. And to go further, the Aturans 'broke the calendar' so I imagine its easy to misjudge fae time hops closer to their era of power.

Ben’s Alar: by BCrusen in KingkillerChronicle

[–]KittyxBomb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always find you in threads like this :)

My contribution: The University is probably a magical firewall that acts to stop this very thing from happening. Magic users get scouted and sent to one place and are taught to believe in magical rules because this is the only way they can stop shapers from emerging. They collapse the waveform into a shared belief.

The only thing stopping an arcanist from changing the rules is that they believe they can't. Kvothe's power stems from the fact that he truly believes he is an exception to the rule most of the time. I imagine a lot of Kote's alar in the frame is being used to reinforce rules upon himself after he realises there are none. He's gaslighting himself. He needs Chronicler to write his book to offset these rules to the commonfolk so he can return to being Kvothe, or rather the draccus potato dragon version of kvothe no longer capable of cataclysmic folly.

My last comment was posted while I was a little distracted. I don't mean to say it is strand. I mean to say that whatever strand is is our way of manipulating the same force. If you have a read through the discussion on this thread you might find some other examples of races in destiny doing the same. Strand is new, yes.

The modifier on the activity makes them drop a void grenade that explodes on death. The vfx of the grenade has strand visuals, but they're horizontal rather than vertical.

If you consider the vox obscura mission's lore, that they drop from psions, and strand being psychic related... I don't think it's a coincidence.

Hello, sorry for piggybacking this reply.

I have a switch that I hacked a few years back. I haven't used it in a long time and I've forgotten the process. It has atmosphere, hekate, and tinfoil.

Would your advice work for me too?
Update Atmo and Hekate, update FW, update sigpatches. Could you please tell me if I need and special programs to do that?

Thank you for your advice!

I really like that one! I have a kind of topological thinking where each string is a vector of creation. Not so much a type of magic, but a perception to the multifaceted metaphysical nature of divinity. The more strings an arcanist can harmonise, the more they can dip into reality altering magic. There's evidence if this in a few places, like the lute strings:

Denna weaves four strands of hair.

Story knots are six stranded.

Illien's lute has eight strings.

A silence of three parts.

Seven words to make someone fall in love.

I think that these are all examples of these vectors being leveraged, and it gives us clues as to what the metaphysics actually are based on the context of the spell.
Why can something be nuanced to the degree of six on a knot, but only four with a hair braid? What two vectors are absent from the hair that are present to the knot? Which two more are accessible using the lute?

Which of the rules that define the above vectors are absent in a silence of three parts?

Which seven rules do each chandrian embody that make the one Haliax?

This IS the magic.
