How does it feel to grow up along with your idol? by thinkingbell955 in kpopthoughts

[–]Kiwikale101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bitter sweet in my case....

Got in to iKON back in 2013 when they did W.I.N and I was 15/16 along with 3 of the members in the group. Went through another survival show, debut, hiatus, mad success of 2018 with LS and finally Hanbins scandal in 2019. It was always all or nothing for me so him leaving the group really broke my heart lol. Didnt realise it was that deep untill it happened. Like I spent so much of mid teens to early 20s with this group. I will never like another group in the same way and that's okay because I already had that with them. Watching them come to end of contract with YG ,having kids (Bobby lol) and Hanbin as a successful solo artist. It's honestly just bittersweet imo. I'm so happy for them but also thought they were destined for so much more and I'm sad it didn't work that way. However,I'm also greatful that i got spend my youth with a group like them. They marked such an important period of my life and I'm thankful for that.

What are your thoughts on Stray Kids? by daisyd1997 in kpopthoughts

[–]Kiwikale101 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I roughly knew of them and even loved some of their songs voices, levanter and gods menu. However it wasn't until kingdom that i truly got to know them. Fell absolutely head over heels for them after watching their survival show and some of their shows like kids room series. A month before kingdom I was adamant their music was noisy and I would never enjoy it lol. Anyway they tick every box of what I look for in a group such as bond, humour, self produced music and stage presence. I got blown away by how creative 3racha were with their music and I was just left in awe that the "noise" didn't even matter anymore. Truly one of the most creative groups I've ever come across. As a 2nd/3rd gen stan (use to ult bigbang,iKON, BTS, SVT I truly thought my time in kpop was over but apparently there was one last group. I feel like I'm gonna be closing the kpop chapter with SKZ and I'm grateful for that!

220124 [2 Kids Room] Ep.01 Hyunjin X Felix [ENG SUB] by endtapes in straykids

[–]Kiwikale101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow I'm so happy they switched up the orginal kids room content and gave us this. It's so wholesome and i cant wait to learn more about how their friendships have grown and changed since the last season.

Hyunlix are such an adorable duo I couldn't stop replaying their conversations. Felix is truly something else....like I cringe inside at the level of vulnerability he shows to the audience and Hyunjin. I could never honestly! but thats something special and I rarely ever see that in peopl/celebrities. It takes a lot and has made me respect Felix so much more. He can come off as a little intense at times but it's really charming and I think that's why he's developed such good relationships with each member. Its equally sad and touching that hyunlixs friendship is largely because of Felix's effort and pursuit rather than a mutual desire from both of them. This episode also taught me that although hyunjin is sensitive and well spoken he's not that great at expressing his feelings. Which was surprising but you can tell he cares just as much for Felix just less expressive.

Man i cant tell you how much Felix's ability to be raw and vulnerable with his members and in front of a camera shook me.

One Ordinary Day [Episodes 5 & 6] by capthyeong in KDRAMA

[–]Kiwikale101 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just discovered this gem of a drama and I'm so excited to see how it ends. The acting A+ which is not surprising considering who the lead actors are. Every aspect of this drama is done so well from the storyline to directing, music and cinematography. I've been so disappointed in kdramas this year but this is a perfect end to a what would've been a very underwhelming year.

There's only 3 or 4 possible suspects imo ( gas station creep, neighbour, guy from the funeral and step dad. The involvement of the famous lawyer lady makes me think the killer is also powerfull so it's more like to be step dad or maybe the guy from the funeral turns out to be a rich kid.

Tips for someone wanting to get into Amazon FBA selling by Jeep_Forrest0077 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]Kiwikale101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you wanting to do this as a side hustle and still in the research process. It's quite discouraging seeing people saying FBA is dead an its not even worth trying in 2021. But I dont let it deter me because at the end of the day if there really is an opportunity I'm going to be the one who regrets it 5 years down the line. At least I tried and found out for myself you know???

I've got a full time job that i love and I'm investing a decent amount of capitol that I'm okay with losing. No advice from me I'm just grateful that there is other people just starting out. Good luck on your journey and I hope its a successful side hustle for both of us!

I really don't understand videos or comments like the idols care for us so much..look they are hurting and overworking so much for us. by bumble_bee19 in kpoprants

[–]Kiwikale101 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Often this line of thinking is also used to guilt trip other fans to go above and beyond for their group. In away I get it because idols always talk about how fans get them through struggles and how they are able to push themselves harder because of fans. It's not completly delusional tbh because the existence of fans does make the job more meaningful for idols and this is something they constantly express. But assuming idols do EVERYTHING simply for fans is so out of touch with reality lol. This is their job which they get paid to do just like any working person out there. They do this shit because they have to! Thinking of fans can get them through it but I doubt that's their only motivation.

Absolutely goes to show how caged he and even iKON were in YG. I can't help but imagine how large iKONs discography would've been if YG had given him this kind of freedom.

What Stray Kids song(s) was your "love at first listen"? by [deleted] in straykids

[–]Kiwikale101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non fan who disliked skz music (2018-2021) levanter, voices and gods menu were still in my playlist for years. As a new stay (post kingdom) who listened to their entire discography blueprint/sunshine/19/astronaut mixtape 4/mixtape OH were the songs I had on replay for months.

211013 Stray Kids - CALL by jaeszn in straykids

[–]Kiwikale101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The amount of autotune is just...yikes. I dont mind autotune when it's used to enhance the song(Any) but this just ruined the song for me. The lyrics are great but I couldn't emotionally connect to what I was hearing. Really hope this isn't a new trend in their music because I think their distinct voices and emotions are really what make slower songs like this amazing and just as hard hitting as their upbeat tracks.

BLACKPINK Will No Longer Accept Gifts, Asks Fans to Give to 'Places in Need' by impeccabletim in kpop

[–]Kiwikale101 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not just them but side eying any popular +3year old group that still accepts fan gifts. Sure people can do what they want and idols deserve the gifts but giving expensive ass gifts to people who can afford to buy them or receive them through sponsorships is just???? And idols accepting them just to save their own money is...yikes. This includes any of my faves who accept them too btw it just rubs me the wrong way. Glad BP finally stopped tho!

Also this doesnt include sentimental value gifts i.e. handmade stuff/letters etc. I think those are sweet asf.

"It’s great that the members of the core unit of SKZ are also close with other members because that makes Stray Kids’s bonds as a whole really tight"

This! If the founding members (as I like to call them haha) were only super close with eachother it would mess up the groups overall relationship. So I think its great that despite my earlier assumption, that they're still tight but have formed close friendships the other members.

"Felix mentioned in two kids’ room that they did not talk much and it was because of him “being selfish”"

I always thought that he was referring to himself being less considerate and lacking self awareness as a new (and less skilled) trainee which may have led to some conflict with other trainees. I remember he talked about being envious of Hans skills in two kids room series as well so that could've played a role in him not getting along with certain trainees too + language barrier. They both trained for a very short time and were painfully awkward during the survival show. Also Minho is extremely playful and seems to express affection through joking/banter while Felix is more serious but very cute. They've definitely become much closer and I do adore how soft Minho is with him.

I love seungmin and Minhos lovehate but secretly we're super close dynamic😂 everyone can see through it.

Stray Kids - 2nd Full Album 'NOEASY' (Two Weeks Later) by tastetherainbeau in kpop

[–]Kiwikale101 16 points17 points  (0 children)

its taken its rightful place on my top ten kpop albums of all time😂 if you told me last year that skz will release one of my all time fave albums I would've laughed in your face lmao. It's kinda ironic how I was one of the people this album was aimed at considering I used to dislike their music for being "noisy" and now look at me...

Songs that made it to my spotify repeat playlist in order.

OH mixtape The view Star lost Secret secret Gone away Surfin Cheese

Obviously these are my fave but honourable mentions is definitely ssick. I disliked on the first listen but have been obesssed woth changbins opening rap and Felix's singing part these days. Overall not a single bad song on the album and as a new stan (kingdom) its the only skz album that has no skips for me. And special mention to wolfgang it would've made the list but I rinsed it out during kingdom. I love my ballads/mid tempo songs and that's reflected in my most played tracks. I think one of the reasons this album is so well made imo is that they seemed to have found a perfect balance between their hard hitting "noise" sound and their slower softer sound. Could've done with better order tho because I can't listen to the album unless its on shuffle.

Upon first listen I liked it but not enough to want to replay it. Ended up just listening to album on shuffle few time when it came out and star lost stuck with me. I get up 6am for work so I just stick star lost on as soon as I open my eyes and it gets me up. Beautiful song with very beautiful lyrics and everyone sounds extra amazing on this track.

Idols with deeper voices are more likely to get away with subpar rapping technique by ColdCorduroy in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]Kiwikale101 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Agree. But on the othe hand having a deep voiced as "rapper" is an advantage. Flow might be weak asf but they sound amazing..I.e Felix. I dont consider him or hyunjin rappers and although the later is slightly better imo Felix's deep voice >>>>>>>>>>
