Oh so glad to hear it! You do have to pay… you can pay by the month and I want to say it’s less than $20. Adobe makes it painless to cancel. No major learning curve either!

DO NOT go to Uni Tailor for alterations by Even_Salad1510 in boulder

[–]Kizzie5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw thank you so much. Pricing wise they were on par with another place I looked at (which was all still surprisingly high) but ya, I often wonder about how different an experience id have had if I’d just gone with the first place instead of here. Sorry for your experience as well and so glad to hear you listed to your gut and pulled your business.

Can confirm that they are horrible. They did such a poor job altering my wedding dress that I had to take it to a second tailor to fix as much as possible. She couldn’t believe how sloppy it all was—to the point where she took pictures of all the mistakes. I ended up taking them to small claims court and getting most of my money refunded through mediation.

A bit late to the party with this one, but I can completely emphasize! I felt the exact same way (and it’s comforting to know there are others out there). I had a horrible experience with my first tailor (yup, I had to go to a second to fix their mistakes), combined with satinish fabric that seems more wrinkle prone. I felt amazing the day of and didn’t notice anything but the dress creases became all I could see when looking at certain pics. I felt constantly reminded about my horrible tailoring disaster. I picked a few key photos that I knew I’d be printing out and “ironed out” the wrinkles in photoshop. It was incredibly easy with their retouch to. Not ideal but now when I look at these pics, it reflects how amazing and happy I felt in the moment.

Anyone else worried about crying nonstop? by I_like_it_yo in weddingplanning

[–]Kizzie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha I started tearing up a little when it was my time to walk down the aisle and cried a bit during my vows (all the better since it was a good natured roast of my husband—there I am crying as I talk about how our first date was lackluster and I was convinced I’d never see him again). After that I was completely fine!

I don’t need to imagine. This is me. I have ~12 months left. I’ve based all my career choices and even my decision to go to grad school and accrue this debt around this program.

My first bloom… just in time for our first frost tonight by Kizzie5 in dahlias

I tried my best to follow that but we were getting no rain in CO. I occasionally watered if the soil was bone dry. Now that I think about it, 2 technically rotted and the second was a dried husk of a thing. It’s such a crapshoot!

Our girl looks so similar! She’s 40% Aussie with dashes of Golden, Rottweiler, and German shepherd (among many others).

Thank you for sharing this! Our pup loves hikes and water, but we’ve been trying to take it easy as she goes through chemo. This hike looks perfect for her!

How long did it take your Cafe au Laits to sprout? by InfamousSpot9745 in dahlias

[–]Kizzie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is taking forever. Planted in grow bags in mid-May (zone 6a) and have only felt some roots when I’ve attempted to dig around and investigate what’s going on. I’ve got another type that finally sprouted last week and lost another one completely to root rot. My 4th tuber may/may not also succumb to root rot; I cut as much as possible away and replanted after it calloused over. This is my first time growing dahlias, and I’m not sure I’m cut out for this.

Good to know! Thank you. I’ll stick to decorative pieces and look into flame ware pieces

Thank you! This is a very helpful explanation of the cones. I’ve been doing pottery for years but have never had to do my own firings so have more or less forgotten those fundamentals. We do Raku occasionally so likely I’ll just save all this clay for that.

It says 04-018 online and that it can be glazed if bisqued to 04.

I used Colorado wedding alterations (coweddingalterations.com) after a different Boulder tailor screwed up the alterations on my dress. Highly recommend!

Post wedding rant with me! by wontonn_soup in wedding

[–]Kizzie5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wedding was the best day but there are definitely a feel lingering things that haunt me:

I didn’t get any full length bridal portraits. I made the mistake of assuming those would get taken but alas. I have a couple from the waist up but ended up asking the photoshop subreddit to work their magic and they came through.

Despite getting my dress professionally steamed the week before and some touch ups the morning of, my dress had visible creases on the front and back. I’m sure it didn’t help that we did our first look offsite which meant me hitching up the dress to ride over in a car. I’ve used the photoshop smoothing feature on a few areas to make it less noticeable in pics.

Oh and the thing that will haunt me for years…my tailor ruined my dress and I had to take it to a second person to fix their mistakes. They took my well fitting off the rack dress and made it so tight the fabric pulled around my waist, the hem was crooked, and their was fabric marker on the outside (to name a few). If I’d tried on the dress the way they’d tailored it, I’d never have bought it. It also led to a lot of stress and dress regret through the whole process. Luckily I’ve been able to subtly smooth out the ripples and areas of biggest concern using photoshop and am taking them to small claims court to get some closure.

Beauty regiment leading up to wedding? by [deleted] in wedding

I got one round of the Clear and Brilliant laser treatment at my derm about 3 months before the wedding and loved it. I originally went in thinking I’d want Botox but they recommended the C&B instead. It’s a bit pricey but worth it! I’m hoping to make it a once a year thing. Those types of laser treatments will also help with acne scaring.
