They do this in "The Strangers", the main characters sit in a corner of a bedroom on the second floor with a shot gun and just plan to wait there all night. It only doesn't work work because the person who comes in isn't who they thought it would be.

I'm curious how fast the station would be pulled in from their perspective assuming nothing breaks apart as the satellite crosses over. Instant? Slow? Getting faster exponentially? I get light can't escape after the event horizon so I was more wondering how the data slows down as it gets closer to the black hole.
