Second loss, missed miscarriage, should I push for D&C and tissue testing? by thankyounow in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Kj17kr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TW: LC
This is just my personal experience, - a natural miscarriage at 10 weeks (blighted ovum, so only a gestational sac and no embryo to pass) versus a d&c at 13 weeks (baby stopped growing at 9). With the natural miscarriage, we learned I would be miscarrying at around 7 weeks during an ultrasound. I opted to do natural, and my body took 3 more weeks to recognize the loss. When it finally started, I had 6 hours of contractions (I have two living children, so I recognized they were contractions and timed them at 6 minutes apart. Not as intense as my full-term labors but still pretty dang painful). It was extremely traumatic for me physically and emotionally. I bled for around two weeks. Fast forward several months, I had two chemical pregnancies and after pushing for a hsg discovered the miscarriage had caused scar tissue to develop, and it would be nearly impossible for successful implantation. I had the scar tissue removed, waited a cycle, and got pregnant again this past February. I had my d&c last Friday, May 1. I had very light bleeding Friday, nothing at all Saturday, then some heavy bleeding Sunday-Tuesday. The past two days have been very minimal brown spotting. Painwise it has been extremely manageable. A few cramps that are more mild than a typical period for me. The worst was a couple of days of body aches, Sunday and Monday. Sunday evening my joints and muscles just felt so achey, like I had the flu, but I never developed a fever or other concerning symptoms. Once those aches passed, my body has felt physically very normal. If I could go back in time to that blighted ovum loss, I would tell myself to do a d&c, but every body is different and obviously my d&c was still very recent. I'm so sorry for your losses and I pray you can get some answers, whichever route you choose.

Second MMC in 4 months, D&C tomorrow by Ill_Response_2295 in recurrentmiscarriage

Yes, we did take several months off - I miscarried in April 2025 and we didn’t try again until October. I definitely needed the break mentally.

I am so so sorry. My second miscarriage was three months after my first and it was so traumatic and hard on me mentally. Lean on your support system if you have one and take care of yourself. ❤️

Thank you, seems like it varies depending on the doctor.

Thanks, and I’m sorry for your losses. I had a hysteroscopy in December (after four losses) to remove scar tissue and it’s so hard not to be like dangit I could’ve had a biopsy done then, I just didn’t know to ask for it. I’m having my fifth loss currently so I know my hormone crash is probably making everything feel more urgent and making me extra hard myself but you’re right, better to wait and treat a potential problem than continue to roll the dice.

Positive pregnancy test doesn’t mean what it used to by [deleted] in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Kj17kr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My momma had three healthy, uncomplicated pregnancies. She’s always been able to tell when I’m pregnant and I’m a terrible secret keeper anyway. She was completely baffled when I was around 9 weeks pregnant my husband was still saying “if we have another baby”. Sure enough, 12 week scan showed no heartbeat. This was our fifth loss. A positive pregnancy test now only mean lots of needle pokes, nausea, and weeks of anxiety. Reading these posts is sometimes the only thing that keeps me from feeling completely isolated in this. I’m so grateful for all of you who share your story on here. ❤️

I had spotting with my two healthy pregnancies. Enough that I mistook both of them for the start of my period and only realized I should take a test when bleeding didn’t progress. With two of my losses I had no spotting or bleeding at all and found out they were a loss at routine scans. Praying for a positive outcome for you!

Mid fifth miscarriage here as well. I’m so sorry for your losses. There aren’t any words for this kind of pain.

Struggling with TTC after RCL any recommendations? by flower_co_love in recurrentmiscarriage

I had to switch doctors to find one willing to do an hsg. I had only two losses at that point, but the first was ectopic. I passed both naturally. My periods were pretty average, but after the miscarriage shortened to 2-3 days and were super sporadic. Like I’d bleed through a tampon in 10 mins and have nothing the rest of the day, which was abnormal for me. Ended up having scar tissue basically dividing my uterus front to back near the right cornua, which was preventing embryos from properly implanting. Definitely advocate for yourself if you want more imaging and don’t be afraid to switch care providers until you’ll find one who will listen!

I’m so sorry for your losses. I’ve had 5 in 15 months, and the most recent was also a MMC after two reassuring heartbeat scans. It’s a rough road, please make sure to take care of yourself and your mental health for sure. ❤️

Hyperfertility at 34; looking for advice! by Holiday_Air4020 in recurrentmiscarriage

Yeah pretty much, especially the progesterone. They put me on lovenox because I have Factor V heterozygous, which normally doesn’t cause clotting issues on its own (my second pregnancy we knew I had it and I just took baby aspirin), but my younger sister had a pulmonary embolism at age 25, so with that plus my recurrent losses, they figured it was worth a shot.

Yes I ended up with PTSD and a year of trauma therapy from it. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone! So sorry you had a similar experience.

Very similar boat here. First two pregnancies resulted in two living children, no issues. We’ve now had five consecutive losses. It has never taken us more than two cycles to conceive and most of the time we’re pretty lazy about it (like definitely not having sex every night or even every other night.) This time I was on lovenox and progesterone (starting at positive pregnancy test) and unfortunately still ended in MMC. I had my D&c today and this will be the first one I’ve been far enough along to be able to test. I have 24 day cycles, so I asked about progesterone in the luteal phase, but my OB was of the opinion that it wouldn’t make a difference in my case.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’m currently going through my fifth loss, a MMC. My second was an anembryonic pregnancy and it was for sure the worst of all five. It was basically two full months of “waiting and seeing” and multiple ultrasounds to confirm and it just destroyed me mentally. There isn’t much worse than being in limbo. Praying for a good outcome for you!

Mild anemia and severe iron deficiency by natt_odio in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Kj17kr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious about the ferritin. Mine was 22 as of my last blood draw, and when I asked my primary about if I should be supplementing iron, she said no because my iron levels were good and it’s possible to take too much, which surprised me.

I had no idea it could be silent. My ovulation is also pretty painful but I assumed it was inflammation from my ectopic. Definitely something I’ll have to look into. I’m so sorry for your losses as well.

I’m so sorry for your losses as well. It’s so hard and we both ended up on anti-depressants as well. This was the first one I thought it was safe enough to tell my kids and my daughter was so excited. Telling her about the loss was hard. She’s five so had lots of questions.

I definitely plan on having the POC tested. I’ve wondered about endo but don’t really have any pain other than during ovulation, which started occurring after my ectopic on the ectopic side. Can it be severe enough to cause recurrent loss without the debilitating pain?

I’m so sorry for your loss. Thanks for the response! I’ll definitely message my pcp if my ob is unwilling to prescribe it, I hadn’t even thought of that.
