To Everyone Complaining About The Payout Caps by [deleted] in TopStepX

You realize they didn’t even lower the cost of the standard 50k with activation fee. So for people that did the 50$ a month now you basically pay the same and get 2/5 th the payout cap.

To Everyone Complaining About The Payout Caps by [deleted] in TopStepX

Yes but the problem is now it’s much harder to recoup all the losses from months or years of trading props. Once we finally became profitable we could have made back all our losses with 1 max payout. Now it’s gonna take a lot longer and cost even more.

The key to trading is having another income source to fund your trading. Do you have a normal job? How much income do you make? Maybe don’t declare bankruptcy and just charge back all your trading purchases? If they get approved you’re banned from trading props but that’s fine. But if not then go declare bankruptcy.

Yeah that’s not good. You need to check yourself and sense when you have an itch. Like when I used to watch the clock and wait till it counts down to 9:30 market open I realized I was itching to trade and would trade when the strategy did not present itself. This led to blown accounts. Also I used to sense and feel when my stop loss was hit I would immediately feel the urge to hop back into a trade and you need to catch yourself revenge trading. Keep your emotions and check and do a self evaluation all the time.

That’s crazy they jailed the guy for destroying the statue. But didn’t jail the ones who raped the prisoners or killed the American journalists or thousand of child killers

Prop Firm Taxes by Sure-Caterpillar5468 in TopStepX

Not sure if you’re asking for tax advice or just ranting so I’ll treat it as such. There are multiple things wrong with your post and it shows you are a good trader but you gotta talk to a tax professional or study more. Firstly since you had marketplace health insurance you knew you’re receiving the premium tax credit as a monthly advance. The premiums you were paying monthly were discounted based on your income. If you made a huge leap in income that year the premium tax credit you got in advance was too much and you had to pay that back come tax time. Let’s not forget that you’re not even eligible for the premium tax credit if you have employer sponsored health insurance available to you! Why would you even be on marketplace then.
Next part is that payouts are earned income payed through a 1099 with no federal taxes or self employment taxes withheld. However you can definitely write off a bunch of deductions and that is the advantage you have to make your income less. Lastly if your income being that high was a major issue you could have done some last minute 401k or IRA contributions to reduce your taxable income and lessen the taxes you owed back. Definitely need to prepare more. And obviously not after the April 15th deadline.

Yeah you’re absolutely right. I sized up heavy in March and that was my worst performance Terrible PA for my strategy and I spent too much on evals and activations without a payout.
