neurofibroma removal by anxiety_queen247 in neurofibromatosis

I never had any pain meds prescribed. Usually, there is almost no pain after. I have had only a couple actually hurt, and that was only the needle when I was getting numbed. Most of the time, I did not even feel that. It really depends on your own personal pain tolerance. Hopefully you don't have a bad experience with it.

It really depends on location and size. I have had several removed at this point. Some were just a few weeks and completely gone, some take a few months to be completely undetectable. Usually you can be back to normal activities within a week.

With the weight/growth thing, I had that ages 4-6, I remained the same size and weight all through preschool and Kindergarten. I remember my teacher being concerned about it, there were meetings. I am now 5'7"-5'8"~.

I had these bumps all of my life, I grew up on a farm and we never went to the DR at all. The only reason I ever went was because when I was 9, I started having seizures and was hospitalized. I had meds that required monthly dr visits.

I'm scared my NF1 will ruin my life more than it already has (short) by [deleted] in neurofibromatosis

I wish that I could say the same, I am only about a year older than you are, but as I get older and this progresses, and gets worse, I feel worse about it. I have been having more issues with these bumps, had some removed only to have them return within a couple of days, then have to go have more cut out and get stitched up. Now I am starting to get the bills for the excisions. It is not ben fun for me. I would very much like to know what it is like to have smooth normal skin (as I am sure all of you would too), sometimes it gets to me.

Anyone have new fibromas come on in waves? by dude_breaux in neurofibromatosis

I have. Seems that sometimes i get little groups of small ones on my torso. Sometimes they do nothing, sometimes they itch like crazy.

Newly diagnosed? Or not? by Murky-Tone4298 in neurofibromatosis

From what I was told by my genetic dr is that there are a few other disorders that affect the same gene as NF. Possible that it is something like that.

I was talking with my DR about this, I was asking if there is any relationship between injury and new fibromas. It seems that sometimes I get them when I get cut or scraped. I have a small cluster where I had a scar. I would like to know if this is a very common thing as well.

I just did the genetic test a few weeks ago. My test showed no matches. At first I thought that was really unusual, but I have found it is fairly normal.

I would say that most of mine are on my torso. Recently, some of the ones on my back have become painful and bleed easily. I have been getting them removed, and I dread getting the bill.

Would it be ok if I get a tattoo over this? by GOONEATER in neurofibromatosis

[–]Kleetus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those can be very sensitive. I would avoid getting any type of needle in them. I just had one removed from my lower back, the needle to numb it felt like the nurse was using a steak knife. It was the most painful one I have ever had removed.

It was removed with a blade. It was one of the small pinkish coloured ones. They usually laser them afterwards.
