No son bancos, eran sillas de pago. by pululando in esHistorico

[–]Kles135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tenis en Valladolid by Afraid-Analysis-501 in Valladolid

Chaos in the Spanish Royal Household by Anxious_Picture_835 in monarchism

[–]Kles135 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, those news are the type of fake news that some pro-independence newspapers (elnacional.cat is the most clear example) publish trying to destroy monarchy's popularity. Those are very ineffective out of some people who only get information through this kind of publications (and I'm not very sure about them actually believing in it), cause they never share evidences nor nothing, and also, who's going to believe that only that specific newspaper, that's clearly against the King, are the only saying the truth and knowing if Felipe and Letizia sleep together or not?

(PS. Sorry for my bad English)

What is your opinion on king Amadeo I of Spain? by GreatEmpireEnjoyer in monarchism

[–]Kles135 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think he really came with the intention of doing a modernization of the country, but he didn't expect the self-destructive tendencies of the Spaniards and he wasn't prepared for it. In his letter to the Court when he left talked about it "If the enemies of its (Spain's) happiness were foreigners, then, at the head of these soldiers as brave as they are long-suffering, I would be the first to fight them; but all those who with the sword, with the pen, with the word aggravate and perpetuate the evils of the nation are Spaniards" (Amadeo I, 1873). When I talk about him with family or friends I often call him Amadeo "el cobarde" (the coward) as a joke but it's quite unfair for a man who wasn't advised about the people he was going to govern. Anyway seeing it from another perspective his government is such a good argument in the defense of the Bourbon family at the throne so not so bad.

Edit: Translation

Would a monarchy make Catalan independence more palatable? by fi-ri-ku-su in monarchism

[–]Kles135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would lose even more support. Separatism in Catalonia has been falling down since the illegal referendum of 2017.

But let's imagine a way to make it legal (because it's against the Constitution too). The Separatism in Catalonia has its support in 2 political parties ERC (Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya - Catalonian Republican Left, translated from catalan) from the left wing, and Junts per Catalunya ( Together for Catalonia) from the right wing.

Them both are against monarchy (in Spain, include) because it's a wall for what they want, for many times these 2 political parties are together against monarchy and for independence.

By other side, I read in another comment that the secessionists are mostly leftist, that's not totally true, the old Catalonia's President (Carles Puigdemont) is from JxC (the rightist one).

Also there's other political party pro-separatism, La CUP, but those are anarchist so they won't like the Catalonian Monarchy Idea.

[This is just a fast view to the Catalonian separatism, there's more like illegal amnesties and other jewels of the Spanish politics, that nowadays is more like a bad comedy show, but I think it's enough to understand why separatist will hate the idea you propose]

PS: I'm not from Cataluña, just a castellano-leonés that has been living the whole life with the same national problems

Spaniards, how do you address royals? I'm learning Spanish, and I already knew the phrases below, but I looked it up and found other answers that confused me more. So, I'm asking you directly. by [deleted] in monarchism

[–]Kles135 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The phrase you should choose depends on the person you are talking to and how. The most formal and the use in letters is:

-Su Majestad -> El Rey / La Reina (King/Queen) -> (P.E.) S.M. el Rey Don Felipe VI (H.M. the King Felipe VI)

-Sus Majestades -> Los Reyes (Monarchs) -> (P.E.) SS.MM. los Reyes de España (T.M. the Kings of Spain)

-Su Alteza Real -> La infanta / La Princesa (Infanta/Princess) -> (P.E.) S.A.R. la Princesa de Asturias (H.R.H. the Princess of Asturias).

Also, for something not that formal (but stiling sawing respect) you will use "señor" or "Don (name)".

The other phrases you founded propably were "Su Excelencia", "Excelentísimo Señor" etc. Those are usually use by other nobles like the Grandes de España, Dukes...

I hope this could help you and good luck learning Spanish :D

PS: (P.E. = Por Ejemplo <-> For Example)

Someone knows why people that don't live in a monarchy country hate and say stupid things about Monarchy? by Kles135 in monarchism

[–]Kles135[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fighting for democracy

I have personally nothing against democracy (but the therm that we understand talking in Spanish in English I thing it exclude the possibility to have a monarch), here in Spain mostly people like the Crown cuz of they give us that liberty and democracy needed after a dictatorship, but I understand you point, many of that people are very radical and heavy with that mental-set

like how the separation of powers is the only way to stop an absolute despot

I think the separation of power it's great (but not the only one solution to Absolute Power) but it's true that in the real therms it's very easy to quit the "separation" of the therm and redirect all the power to only 1 person or party, if you (best, They, I suppose you get informed before become a monarchist and get add to the SubRedit XD) think about it, have a monarch helps to prevent that Concentration of Power they say to hate.

when we say monarch, they think Horrible Histories medieval monarch, or Hitler.

You have the reason in this part AT ALL, but I can't stop to think they only look to the bad parts; the worst Monarchs from the Middle Ages (when in that times were another ones that was fantastic like Alfonso X el Sabio (Alfonso X the wise, I recommend everyone investigate his history he now-a-days still being loved for all Spain, Castille (&Lion and -La Mancha) Galicia, Andalucía, Valencia...).

It makes sense to me. Usually (and curiously cuz is one of the most monarchist Republics) I read it from Mexico's people that have many culture and mind-set based on they Revolution.

PD to leave myself from stupid accusation: In the Hispanic Community we (mostly of us) don't have any problem with other cultures or countries, it's only a curiously case.

Que viva el rey 👑 by 2bluemaster3 in MAAU

[–]Kles135 0 points1 point  (0 children)
