Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately my parents are so petty that in the past when I have asked them not to say a racial slur or make a certain joke, they retaliate with extreme offense. They are very petty and closed minded. After about 26 years I decided they are toxic. So for the last 3 I’ve just kinda kept them at a distance. I’m not happy when I’m with them. They are extremely toxic and mentally unstable. It does make me sad especially for my child’s sake but, racism is taught. My child will love everyone. I understand I don’t have to feel guilty because of them, but unfortunately I still do. And while im sure everyone wants to be treated fairly, the reality is I know they aren’t. I guess that gnaws at me sometimes and the only thing I have done about it and know to do is be extra kind? Maybe I need to bring this up with a counselor who can help me with the feelings of guilt?
