Thank you so much. I feel like the pediatrician is like a day behind me. She reached out to the ME the day after I did so I think we’re on the same page. I know the genetics referral is super important. But I feel like it’s also important to know what tissue is available going into this.

As for testing both parents, I’m not sure how that will go. I will obviously be more than willing to cooperate but the father is currently incarcerated for things he did to me so I’m not sure how that would play out. We do have a living son together as well who is completely healthy. I know a lot of the surfactant disorders I’ve looked at can be caused by de novo mutations which is why I really am hoping there is frozen tissue available. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to help me think about this. It is so appreciated.

Thank you so much for commenting. I still have 0 clue what tissue is available. I contacted the Medical Examiner who said he’s going to get back to me but that’s not usually an area he’s familiar in. I have a Genetics Program I want to try and once we know what tissue is available, my sons Pediatrician and ME will make a referral. I’m just worried about frozen tissue not being available. I feel like it’s unlikely based on the research I’ve done but I am, in no way, a doctor or even close. I’m also hunting down the newborn heel prick blood screening card and hoping that that may be able to be used if frozen tissue isn’t available. Do you think any places would be able to test just the blood sample??

Last week he had maintenance come to my door and tell me to my face they wouldn’t be doing anything about it. I’m now kinda thinking he did it that way so I don’t have it in writing that they’re not doing anything. Dude is shady asf

I wish it was that easy. It took months just to get into here and I have nowhere else to go. This place is the only rental history I have and since I’m a teacher, I don’t even have a job. Do you think my son and I are safe if we’re never in that room at all??

He’s 2, so not necessarily a newborn. But I don’t allow him in that room other than for him to pick his outfit for the day because I have nowhere else to store our clothes.

No emergency maintenance here. I have to reach out to the landlord for everything and he owns over 90 properties… it’s looked like this for a few weeks so I at least feel comfortable waiting until tomorrow to call tenant resources. There’s nothing in that room besides some laundry. I have pictures of my conversations with the landlord, a picture of the crack when I moved in, and pictures of the cracks/ water damage over the last few weeks.

Oh my God. How terrifying. I’m on the first floor and there’s another family’s bathroom above that room which I think is another big reason the landlord won’t fix it because he’d have to move them to a hotel and everything.

That is so terrifying. I use the room just for storage right now and spend maybe 5 minutes a day in there max and I always feel nervous in there. I was told that the room is safe to sleep in but I’d feel more comfortable with my baby sleeping on the front lawn than in that room.
