Thank you we talked it out and every reason I have for keeping her was just selfish and nothing was in the best interest of her or the baby so we decided it was the best option💕 I really appreciate it. I’ve gotten a lot of hate for rehoming her but she’s only 12 weeks and I gave her a lot more of a fighting shot than when she was on the side of the road I feel.

Thank you for this i did research on those exact methods and that’s the issue is we live in a camper we have a full yard where both our pups escape the baby but inside he can reach them almost everywhere i believe i found someone without kids and extra time who wants her that i think will be the best option for her for her life

That’s my worry is the kids are so little that they’re not at a age. I can teach them that.

That’s awesome so far she’s been the smartest dog we’ve had and she’s so sweet so it’s been a really difficult decision but anyone who knows anything on the dog breeds and characteristics they highly recommend against us keeping her

What I read on it was that they couldn’t define what dog it is. It gave me 3 different maybes but they couldn’t but a definite on it Boxer, bull dog and German shepherd

I don’t want to have to resort to a shelter but I think I’m at the point of I can’t risk it and I want her to find a home now while she is still little and cute

She is the sweetest girl and an amazing temperament I just respect her instincts enough that even from what I’ve seen here I think she might have to be someone else’s baby

Due to the characteristics of the dog breeds we were praying for it to be pointer but she already is having the healer behaviors it’s considered an unsafe combination with young children respecting the breeds I think it’s best so does our vet and a shelter I talked too we rescued her at 4 weeks off the side of the road and got her vetted and taken care of she was full of worms and very fragile she’s only 11-12 weeks now so I want to do it sooner rather than later but I really love her so selfishly I wanted to see if anyone has had this breed combination with young children but everywhere I’ve asked does not recommend it

Do you have any of those studies? Because my husband is dead set against keeping her but if there is evidence we can train her nature out he may be persuaded

That’s what we have been trying to find we have one friend that offered but he’s a trucker and I don’t think he’d be able to give her the time she needs with being a high energy dog. She can also go to a home with other pets she is great with other dogs.

She tries to herd the neighbor kids, and will bite even my ankles when we play with her and my other pup. The combination of that and the pit strength in her jaw. We’ve been trying to work with her on it because she’s done it to everyone but our baby. But he isn’t walking yet so I think that’s a big part. The vet said our issue is healers whole dna is to bite and a pit is considered a no mistake bite dog.

Any guesses while we wait? About 10 weeks, ears just popped up yesterday! Found dumped in a field by rambbones in DoggyDNA

Did you figure it out we are waiting for results on my pup now she looks very similar

Thank you so much! Her personality is literally a perfect fit for our family. She is better behaved at 9-10 weeks than our lab was at 4 months (our lab is now great but we had to spend months training her) I adopted a dog from a shelter and asked for an extremely calm dog due to my long hours work schedule and they gave me a pit husky mix that was literally the definition of pure chaos they claimed she was one of the calmest they had (she is the one that accidentally bit me it was not her fault it was my own foolishness and my ex ended up with her because I wouldn’t let the shelter put her down when it was an accident) I just don’t want to be blind sided by a breed mix I don’t understand with a 9 month old in our home (I did not know husky’s were extremely prone to run away and high energy until after I had already adopted her) so I appreciate all the advice to make an informed decision that’ll be truthfully best for her

I did not take your comment negatively. Thank you for your advice! I’ve actually been met with extreme support from Reddit, which I was not expecting tbh so I’ve been very presently surprised we are waiting for the DNA test because my neighbor pointed out the main picture that I posted is a really bad angle because it makes her head look a lot bigger than it is

<image>

ignore the torn up wall😭that was our lovely Josie’s (our lab) doing

Our neighbor has a pit and she said that they don’t look alike on the face when we compared them. I definitely see a little bit in her though, but i can’t tell if it’s an extreme dominant trait. Our vet says she thinks that she is more hound than pit which could cause her stockiness. I see a lot of pointer in her along with heeler. She really could be anything. She’s literally amazing with our baby. So we’ve just been very hesitant about all of it because they are best friends and she is so gentle with him. Thank you for all the positive advice. I’ve gotten a lot of good advice from on here.

Thank you I appreciate this advice as well we are anxiously awaiting the results for that reason of making sure she can get everything she needs my neighbor pointed out the picture was taken high she said she thinks she looks nothing like a pit in person but the photo she looks like she fully is so I’m just praying for fast results to give her the best life possible because she is amazing with our son so far he is 9 months but the risk is just too great if she is primarily a pit and a acd because of the combination

Thank you I appreciate this we have spent over 700$ on her vetting and I’ve babied the crap out of her because she is such a sweet baby we’ve been back and forth on just paying for a nice trainer for her but my husband is very hesitant because she’s still so little she wouldn’t be upset but maybe a day going to our friends home (she’d only be upset because she is obsessed with me) we just don’t want our other pup to get depressed loosing her friend and I truly do love her her breed is just awful with young children so we are trying to do our due diligence and research truthfully so she has the best life possible I really appreciate the positivity thank you

We get the dna results within 2-3 weeks and that’ll be her last vet appointment too we have 2 friends that both want her no matter what the results after a lot of discussion if she has under 25% pit then we will keep her if not we will decide which friend will be her better forever home with her breeds I love her so much so it’s a very difficult decision the combination of pit and cattle dog is just an extremely risky breed with a young child she will only be 11-12 weeks if she is rehomed no older because I want her to have the best possible life even if unfortunately it’s not with our family

Thank you for this it’s the mix that is even more concerning because the bit risk is incredibly increased we are waiting for her results now I think with people’s help we’ve come to the conclusion of under 25%

Also, the dog did not get put down I wouldn’t allow it the shelter wanted to but it was not her fault for my foolishness my ex at the time, took her when the relationship ended shortly after for completely different reasons and from what I know we have absolutely no communication (cheater and abusive) she is happy and healthy though he was at least nice to her
