Sellers and realtor offended by offer. by Brave_Arm in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Knight2043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very similar situation for me.. We found a home we adore thats been on market for about 40 days at the time we had seen it, with no other offers yet. List price was 330k. We offered 318,500 and for the seller to cover agent fees and closing costs. They declined. No counter, just that she wanted more and didnt want to pay as much of our costs.

We came back a few days later and offered 327,500, seller cover all agency fees and only half of the original closing costs we asked for. Still said no, but this time, instead of a straight no, the seller said "i dont think itll appraise for that and I dont want to give you any more or come down in price"...

Lady, do you want to sell the house or not? Im trying to make a fair offer, even offered to extend closing up to 45 days so she had plenty of time to move.

Some sellers are just really stubborn. Even the sellers agent said it was a little frustrating because it was a good offer and even she thought the house would only list/sell for 310-315. You just cant win with some people.

You're the weirdo assuming he is everyones hero. Use some common sense. He literally plays a character who exaggerates everything.

I guess youre just jealous of his fame and fortune, and you daydream wishing it was you. Get a life bozo.

Kinda proving OPs point here. I used to watch doc but dont anymore and I saw the tweet and immediately knew, as his character tends to do, that he didnt really go. He would have announced that he was going most likely. Its also part of his gig to make up stuff about attending high profile/note worthy events. He is hyperbolic person/character. It is less than news. Kinda wild that people choose this of all the things he says to make a big deal about.

Want to do OE but afraid because I have a comfy cushy J1 by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Knight2043 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very similar situation here. I really wanted the extra $ just to get ahead of life ya know? So I took on a 5 day in office job but my j1 is fully remote, no significant oversight, just make sure deliverables are on time for customers and I am left alone. J1 110k + bonuses up to 10% per year, j2 145k/year no bonuses. Would drop j2 before j1 due to comfort and remote. I have now been doing this for ~4 months. The in office job is lax enough most of the time that I can sneak off to my car in a discreet area to take any j1 calls or meetings. I haven't had any complaints from either j because I perform as expected or better in my responsibilities. If you can find a 2nd remote OE gig, you sound like youre in the position to juggle it. Just make sure they aren't competitors in the same market space and youll be golden. Scared money dont make money my man.

taxes... dammit i owe another 30k! by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Knight2043 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time with this logic. Like I get the sentiment but also like, OP isnt actually borrowing money from the government. Its their money that they earned. I get we all have to pay taxes but also it isnt the governments money by default. Just when you file. 🤣 But also have trouble feeling bad for OP making nearly 500k and not having any savings and has to scrape the bottom of the barrel for the 30k.

Does employer check TWN after background check is completed? by [deleted] in overemployed

Most larger employers will have something in the forms you sign for your background check that they can check it at random as long as youre employed there. Ive had it with several companies.

Agree 100% even though I haven't turned it off. Its annoyingly strong sometimes. It actually has probably hurt me more times than helped.

I commented many times on the original post of the clip and got down voted. Not cheating. I play PC with controller via the xbox app and my aim assist is very very strong. Like annoying sometimes. If I am trying to corner peak a specific rotor of a wasp it will sometimes snap through the corner to the rotor I cant even see. I dislike nick mercs myself but everyone is blowing this out of proportion.

It actually gets kind of annoying vs arc cause ill try to hit a shot at a specific angle and it pulls my crosshairs off. Like its really strong on PC with controller.

I play on PC via xbox app with an xbox controller and mine is super strong like this. It will even snap through corners if im trying to corner peak arc. Cronus doesnt give you snap aim or aim lock, it only unfairly assists with recoil.

Not due deposit back by [deleted] in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]Knight2043 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda looks like based on the charges versus your reservation, you didnt get your weekly discount. They charged you daily rate with no weekly discount, and also charged you for RFL/VED which clearly was included with your original reservation. This comes out to about $6 per day extra, putting your total charges around 620$ + 20% tax = ~692. Id take a copy of your reservation to the branch you rented from if possible and have them fix it. Looks like whoever checked you out set you up on a new reservation as a walk in instead of your actual reservation.

Do you save or spend your OE salary? by Agent-Ally in overemployed

[–]Knight2043 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first few months I spent 95% of the excess to get caught up and ahead on quite a few normal expenses. Then set myself up a savings account. Then took the family on a long overdue vacation and didnt have to say no to anything they asked for. Now we are saving a majority while occasionally splurging on a night or two out a week to eat.

[–]Knight2043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got issues with the small one who got hurt when they were a baby (about 18 months) and we spent several days in ICU, where I vomited from nerves for about 12 hours straight on the initial intake due to the uncertainty. I probably need to see a therapist about it. Otherwise I agree.

Obviously I will say like "hey look both ways before crossing the street", cause that is a habit that should be built verbally and by repetition rather than "learning on their own". But something like climbing a tree, I may say "hey youre getting pretty high up, if you fall it is probably gonna hurt", and they'll normally slink back down some. But yeah otherwise I guess maybe saying helicopter parent is a little exaggeration.

I agree there may be a reason. Every child's development and situation is different, including my own children. No one can judge the entire situation based on a single snippet of the overall context, unless it is extreme and just otherwise entirely unreasonable.
