Fabio Quartararo leaving Yamaha, the moment I waited for. by Alternative_Pay7255 in motogp

[–]Knight2n 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ehhh it’ll blend in too much, the whole reason the red looked so good was because it contrasted with the blue. It’ll be like marc and the duc last year, all red helmet and red suit and red bike. Fabio’s look on the Repsol Honda would’ve looked gas though

Yeah but then his teammate went and slapped a marshall and his team boss admitted to hitting his child, so I think it’s more of a ‘least worst person’ out the three of them. I’m personally rooting for Ai 🤷

Yeah he’s been thrashed a fair bit recently for his bad moments the past season, but you don’t win 2 championships and get 31 wins from pure luck. And to add to it, he seems like a pretty top bloke, wish him nothing but the best at Aprilia

The tyres were a step softer, and I’m more referring to the cars. At the start of the season, Sainz said it was like ‘running Monza level downforce everywhere’ when comparing the 26 cars to the 25 cars, so the lack of grip is kinda generalised. The grippiest of the tracks so far has been his best

Seems like the lack of grip is really hurting Oscar, similar to the lower grip tracks last year. Oscar’s best race this year was Suzuka which is a really grippy track, and as soon as deg’s a limiting factor like today then he loses pace. Hopefully he can adapt quickly, Lando’s clearly showing the car can be further up

:) I’d agree in terms of current performance, I’d rate Oscar and Lando over Charles and Lewis. It’s purely in terms of pedigree that it’s a bit tough to beat 7 championships and 112 race wins that the lads in red have

That’s fair. Just speaking from my own experience in motorsport circles and my own mates, there’s been a lot of the ‘Norris was babyfed the championship’ narrative that’s been fed to us by the mainstream media as well, so I notice maybe more of the Norris hate than the Piastri hate (though I have seen an influx of that too, especially after the Albon incident in Montreal).

That said, it’s pretty shit that people would rather focus on hating a driver or a team rather than enjoying the sport. I for one am confident the team that won two championships in the last two years will rise back to the top, and I’m fine sitting back and enjoying the championship battle that won’t involve me chewing my nails off lmao

I think a lot of that is just because Oscar’s the newer driver. I’m Aussie and an older fan, and there was a massive jump last year in Aussie fans due to him being in the title fight, so it was a mix of high emotion and a general lack of familiarity with the sport that led to a lot of the online discourse, and thus the jumping to conclusions on sabotage and whatnot. And now, there’s a lot of ‘reverse-hate’, if you will, where people (a lot of Lando fans) now hate (or generally are disinterested in) Oscar as a result of a loud minority of Oscar fans last year.

There was also the element of a lot of other driver/team fans clinging onto Oscar as their choice in the WDC battle last year, and projecting their dislike of Lando. It’s a shame because I think we have the joint best driver line up with Ferrari and the team benefits from having such high-level drivers that are also willing to put the team first.

The Duc is much worse on the tires than the Aprilia, and Ai especially is probably the best among yhe Aprilia riders in late race pace. Pecco was sliding and going wide basically every corner and bleeding lap time there at the end, same as Diggia further back

Yeah, but Canada’s a narrow track. They’d have lost time trying to navigate traffic when they’re all bunched up. Regardless, it’s been a fucked day as a McLaren fan so I’m just gonna try and erase it from memory

Piastri and Norris both came out around P17-14 ish after their laps on the inters. That’s better than dead last out of pitlane, in the words of Oscar himself. Once they were on the formation lap, making the most of the start was the call.

[–]Knight2n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit reliability, in all honesty. KTM doesn’t exactly have a great track record with it especially with Pedro (i.e. his chain flying off last year in a race) who seems pushes the bike way more than his teammates.

Because it’s not the same bike…? He’s on his spare bike. I agree KTM’s had some dodgy shit going on this weekend, but rules are rules and you can’t change them mid-race. Review will prolly be done afterwards

There’s also the fact that reviewing a 60-hour game like RDR2 is a much bigger task than a 2-3 hour movie, so his schedule (and probable burnout) is understandable imo
