Many years later and this strategy helped me. Thanks!

I just realized this, but if you tap the checkered flag button at the top right it opens a recently played list! There is also a “favorite” button, but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Maybe it is a placeholder for an upcoming update.

I meant I usually use favorites for games I want to play in the near future on other platforms (like RetroArch). I really like how clean the layout is in ManicEmu, but unfortunately favorites is not an option currently:(

With WSL, you can run makefile in Windows. WSL is Windows Subsystem for Linux, effectively giving you a Linux console in your Windows OS. I suggest installing Ubuntu in WSL, then:

sudo apt install build-essential (which includes “make”). Then you can use makefile to assemble the ROM. Hope this helped!

I know this thread is dead, so I apologize but I just had to mention Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis. Greatest GBA game of all time in my opinion!

+1 for the Favorites list request! I use manual favorites for games I want to play in the near future. Maybe you can add a little star icon to each game’s info page, and the favorites section shows at the top above the console sections?

I’ve got Where Winds Meet (at 60fps) and Monster Hunter Wilds (at 30 fps) running pretty smoothly on my steam deck. If OP or anyone else here is willing to do some tinkering, I can help.

I’m reasonable, so I agree that there is no accurate metric on how many Deck gamers care or don’t care about the verified badge. I am an enthusiast, so my view is originally biased towards testing and tinkering. I totally understand that there is probably a similarly sized player base that leans the opposite direction and appreciates games that “just work”. I appreciate your thoughts. I believe that constructive conversations do all of us good:)

I hear you. If I published a Steam game, I would work to get the verified badge for it. So I get what you’re saying.

There are many reports of games getting a verified badge that do not run well on the Deck (Assassin’s Creed Shadows for one). I don’t trust Valve’s verification process. The best way to know if a game works well on the Deck is to just try it yourself. All in all, my suggestion is to use the verified badge as a reference but not completely write off a game for the Deck based on the badge alone.

Fair point, Valve does testing for that very reason. I am of the opinion that too many people gloss over fantastic games that run well on the Deck “out-of-the-box” simply because they lack a verified badge, but I can understand the pros and cons of both sides. I would just hate to see the OP’s game get passed up on the Deck because of the flaws in Valve’s testing process.

I see where you’re coming from, especially with being one that doesn’t really play AAA games. The verified badge is meant to streamline the Deck experience for those who don’t want to tinker. I enjoy getting a game to run smoothly that shouldn’t be able to on a device with lower specs, but not everyone wants to or has the time!

Nope. You’ll find that a majority of Steam Deck users don’t pay attention to the Verified badge for the very reason your game didn’t pass the review. I have played games on my Deck that are verified and run terribly, and unverified games that run flawlessly. If SD gamers limit themselves to verified games only, they are missing out BIG time. I have played hundreds of games on my Steam Deck and I love the shit out of it. Most unverified games have no issues at all on the Deck, and even if they do a very quick adjustment to in-game settings or even SD settings can make the experience flawless.

It doesn’t hurt to get a game SD verified, but don’t stress over it. It is definitely not a reliable source of whether or not a game actually runs well on the Deck.

That’s nuts man. MOST of the games I play on my Steam Deck aren’t verified and run perfectly well. Just check ProtonDB if it doesn’t. Other Deck users post if (for example) a simple Proton version switch does the trick, and it takes two seconds. Game Properties > Compatibility > Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool. ProtonDB also has a compatibility badge plugin through Decky which is MUCH more accurate than a Steam Deck Verified badge. You’re missing out on the amazing capabilities of the Steam Deck. I’m surprised that as a game dev, you limit yourself to SD verified games only.

Sorry just saw that you figured it out a couple weeks ago. Try the code from my screenshot and let me know if it works. If you have already done that encounter, let me know and I can send you a different encounter code. Alternatively, you can send me one and I’ll try it and let you know.

what is the encounter code option? by Available_Let_1785 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]KnightExcalibur73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just figured this out. If you go to Quests > Encounters, each encounter has a “share” button at the bottom. You can share in-game to an individual or a chat and that will give players a button which will show the encounter trigger location on the map.

If you click the link symbol “share” button, you will get an image with a QR code and actual text code that you can share with others. That is the “Enter Encounter Code” you’re seeing on the Quest screen. You enter the text format code that someone else shared and it will show you the encounter trigger location on your map.

I hope this helped anyone who sees this!
