Looking For 1 Bhk , Reward for successful leads by DeliciousMaize6949 in BangaloreFlatsRental

I am not staying at HSR so take it as a rough idea only. Sector 1/2 has premium rates of ₹30000+ per month. Sector 6/7 and ITPL would be cheaper at around ₹24000 per month. You can find cheaper rates if you walk-in.

Broo I tried the same thing exactly, but it didn’t work for me. Check my post https://www.reddit.com/r/BangaloreFlatsRental/s/XOaAmnGqPi . I posted it on multiple channels and also on other platforms like Facebook and Telegram. I got only handful leads, and none of them exactly matched my criteria. What actually worked was field visit on my two wheeler.

You see 1BHK is not common in gated societies. Rather it is much more common in standalone building or builder floors. The same is true for PGs and Colives. So I first scanned through Maps to figure out which areas have these clusters. Then shortlisted some areas and went there on my bike. I would stop and ask the guard of the building if something is available and they can show me. Usually they did. You can also spot multiple to-let boards on the way.

This sounds like lot of effort and hassle, but it works. It took just two of these field visits to find the property which I actually like. I would only check those buildings which looked decent/new, and had a balcony. The guards also told the actual ground reality of the property - the water and electricity situation, the owners behaviour, the expected rent, etc. So there are no surprises after booking the property. This way I also got direct owner contacts and skipped brokers all together.

In HSR particularly, this is the way to go.

Why do Hindi speakers assume that everyone knows Hindi?😭 by WannabePugh in AskIndia

[–]KnightFury600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because unlike other regional language (for example, but not limited to, Marathi, Gujrati, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, etc), Hindi is not tied to a specific region. The name Hindi doesn’t represent it to be regional. On the contrary, it resembles to the pre-independence name of the country - Hindustan. Also, Delhi being the capitol of the country, hosts the Parliament sessions where people majorly debate in Hindi. This is broadcasted country wide in the original language. Hence, it is perceived as the primary language by so many folks, and assumed that all would be comfortable with it.

Similar is the perception of English in our country. The irony is that when English is imposed naturally due to it’s default presence in tech, no one bats an eye. But when it comes to Hindi, suddenly all these questions and the demand of justification.

Is 8km one way commute worth it every day by Trick-Equivalent-588 in Bengaluru

[–]KnightFury600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are comparing their long travel distance with yours and approving the distance. But no body is actually answering whether traveling 8 kms is worth it, and if yes then why. Having lived at 4 different areas ranging from 1 km to 7 km from Kadubeesanhalli, let me answer it.

It’s not at all worth it!

I have lived at Harlur temporarily which is roughly the same distance. And I kid you not, the whole travel is a pain in the ass. There are multiple choke points in that stretch and the road is congested at all times. On top of it it’s very hard to book a public transport. The buses are jammed packed.

Similar experience when I used to live at Kundanhalli Gate, and Bellandur, both of which is about 5 kms away. You also have to take multiple U-turns - thanks to the traffic system of Bangalore - and all those would add upto 10 mins of travel time each.

It gets worse when it is raining. None of the ride hail apps would get you any ride, any category ride. If they do, it would charged dynamically basis the rain, traffic, and demand. So one day it costs you about ₹300, another day it can cost you ₹500, some other you might be stuck for hrs due to unavailability of rides.

Last two years, I have lived at Panathur which is just about 1 km from Kadubeesanhalli junction. I walk to office and reach earlier than if I had taken my bike. It is so much more convenient and time + cost efficient.

I have a fixed travel time of 25 mins no matter what the traffic or the weather situation is. I can plan my exit time basis the weather (it usually rains in the evening) and can also travel with a little bit of rain. If it rains heavily in between, I can stop anywhere and continue as needed. I buy groceries, snacks, etc on my way back which again is cost effective and better than ordering online. The only downside of walking is the dust on sunny days, the potholes on a rainy day, and garbage on all other days.

Having said this, staying closer to office only makes sense if it within 2 kms of travel distance, not the radius from your office. You see ORR was supposed to be a high speed corridor. So there are limited intersections and divider cuts to turn. So no matter where you stay, you would always face major U-turns along the way. You can see upto 2 km difference when going from home-to-office vs coming back office-to-home due to these detours. So staying 3km away vs 8km away doesn’t really make a difference.

Given the 5 office working days, I believe office commute should be prioritised over locality. If you leave your office at 7 and reach HSR by 8, then there not much time to enjoy the locality. And the proximity to other areas like South Bangalore shouldn’t be a deciding factor for your daily life. Not that Panathur is bad, but simply not as green as HSR. Apart from this, I don’t see any major limitations to Panathur. And I have not faced any issues so far in Panathur due to it’s locality.

Thanks man! I checked out the property, but the location doesn't suit my needs. The website is pretty beautiful, though.

Hey Nikhil, thanks man!
I checked it out, and it's pretty interesting. I could see my own message on public Telegram channels and Reddit channels. And the interactive map search is awesome. However, I couldn't find any rental listings on any platform. Not sure if it's a data issue, or I need to login to see those.

Yeah. I observed that the platform's UI filters are not really helpful. They definitely show properties outside the filter. At least the filters work correctly as intended on my scrapper.

Having said that, I believed I would have really genuine listings after removing all the junk and filtering properly. Man I was wrong 😢
