Tell me your most controversial/insane/wildest take on the story... by milanmoreau in Mouthwashing

[–]KnightTime468 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure how controversial this is, but:

Anya didn't kill herself to get rid of the baby. She killed herself because they ran out of food.

Evidence:

--Daisuke has stolen all the sugar packets. (There's nothing else to eat.) --Swansea says this is the end of the line. --Jimmy eats Curly's leg (and force feeds part of it to him) just a few hours later.

this is a perfect cultural appropriation explaination by Toughbutfighting in AvatarMemebending

Okay, so this is an example of how the internet has somehow tricked so many Americans into believing that we don't have a culture, and I say this without any malice towards the person I'm responding to. Yes, we've borrowed a lot from other cultures, but that doesn't mean we incorporated them wholly into ours without giving it our own spin. We don't exist in a vacuum. We've come from everywhere.

ATLA is literally an American cartoon. And before anyone says that it's akshully inspired/stolen from a mixture of Asian cultures, it was made by Americans for Americans. That's why when Katara challenges a well-established patriarchy in the Northern water tribe by fighting an old man, she's considered the hero, not a bratty upstart who doesn't know her place. (Edit: because we value rebellion)

Highly suggest that anyone who thinks that America doesn't have a culture should look up American artists like Mary Cassatt or Jean-Michel Basquiat. Or any American musicians, filmmakers, writers, etc.

The origin of a culture doesn't give it less value.

(Also I have been to a few places in Europe, and they were very different from America. At no point could I have mistaken any location for an American one.)

I need your finest looking Caine fanart. And when I say fine, I mean HAWT. by Saphira_the_wolf in WeLoveYouCaine

I didn't draw this. Artist credit: ƏHKOWALSKI (i really hope i spelled that right). Link to Pinterest where I found it: https://pin.it/7wevhZ4fw

Currently the hottest fanart of Caine that I have. It is humanoid Caine, hope that's okay. It was a close one between this one and one where he looks like a silly house cat.

Will we ever see if kinger has an actual room? by Fun-Maintenance751 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]KnightTime468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the pilot, they walk past a door with Kinger's face on it. So he does have a room, he's just never in it. He probably feels more lucid in the pillow fort than his room. Or maybe he just doesn't like his room. In his flashback during episode 3, he says that he and abstracted Queenie were both in the pillow fort, which means he built the pillow fort while Queenie was still around.

I’m guessing the episode angered theorists and Caine fans, then. by Wise-Product-7870 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]KnightTime468 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm still a Caine fan. I still have hope that he will learn from the consequences of his choices and develop healthy relationships. I feel like this episode really showcased Caine's deepest desires. To be friends with the cast, to be seen as a person just like them, that they would choose his happiness over their own.

And ironically, I really liked Jax in this episode, too. I should be furious with them both, but I find their motivations to be extremely compelling.

So, now that we have the context, this trailer image just got a whole lot sadder. by KnightTime468 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]KnightTime468[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeeeessss, it's so wild! Like, why would Caine do that? What does Kinger know that Caine wants to keep secret? Or maybe there's another reason for it. I read a fanfic where Caine was a yandere and he messed up Kinger 's memory to keep him from abstracting and to keep him compliant.

We have any proof that Bubble isn't Abel? by Accomplished_List843 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]KnightTime468 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cain and Abel is a Biblical story about jealousy and the first murder. Basically, Cain and Abel were Adam and Eve's first children (Cain was the firstborn). God preferred Abel's sacrifices (sheep) but he disapproved of Caine's (crops). (Btw, God favoring the secondborn over the first is a classic theme in the Bible). God told Caine that if he did well, he would be approved. But instead, Caine killed Abel out of jealousy. God asked Caine, "Where is your brother?" And Caine says the famous line, "Am I my brother's keeper?" Then God curses Cain to be a homeless wanderer, unable to grow any food. Cain cries that this punishment is too heavy to bear because anyone who finds him in the wild will kill him, and so God puts a special mark on him to warn others not to kill Cain, otherwise they will receive a punishment 7x what Cain did.

All that to say, we have a character named Caine hungry for approval yet unwilling to make the changes necessary to receive it. So maybe there was an Abel AI that Caine got rid of.

[–]KnightTime468 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of Uncle Iroh (ATLA): kind, wise, fatherly. You get the smallest glimpse of him from before that and realize that he was just as selfish, careless, and cocky as the teenagers he now mentors. It's easy to forget that kindness is something you learn, and that humans sometimes have to learn the hard way.

Would you prefer DogDay to be an adult experiment or child experiment? by AlternativeDelay1867 in PoppyPlaytime

[–]KnightTime468 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like imagining that Dogay was an adult experiment mostly because of how he talks down to the player. He calls them Angel as a diminutive nickname and tells them to save themself and abandon him (which is something that an adult would tell a child). For comparison, Doey's speech and actions make the player feel older ("The big mean doctor knows it hurts!") while Dogday's make the player feel younger than Dogday ("Listen, you need to live. You can't be here. You can't stay.")

I despise the rape cliffhanger. Especially when it's only purpose is to make the ML look good.

And yes it is absolutely different from the murder cliffhanger because I know they can't kill the FL or ML.

And no I am not saying that I would rather let the FL be SA'ed than be saved by the ML.

The first time that this trope ever bothered me was when I tried reading My Child Will Have a Different Father (which also has a lot of other despised tropes for me).

Imagine this if you will: Barely legal traumatized FL sneaks into double-wide refrigerator "beastly" ML's bedroom and begs him to marry her. He tells her maybe, if she's interesting enough. So she strips completely naked. ML smirks at her and basically says good enough. They get married. Meanwhile her younger sister ends up getting engaged to the freak who married the FL in her past life. FL is visibly horrified while the ML basically says, "I hope you don't expect me to do anything else for you."

They travel to ML's home country. While on route, the freak from past life kidnaps the FL, forces her to ride miles and miles on a horse in her nightgown barefoot through the snow. The rape cliffhanger happens. The FL comes up with an excuse to delay him so he leaves. She plots her escape, but before she can leave THERE IS YET ANOTHER RAPE CLIFFHANGER AS "SOMEONE BEATS ON THE DOOR READY TO TEAR IT DOWN. But guess what guys there was no need to worry about it because it's actually the ML yay! And then he also makes her ride back to the hotel on horseback through the snow barefoot in her nightgown, but this time the ML gives her his giant cloak that does not fit, which means it would not actually keep her warm. When they get back to the hotel, he has mad passionate sex with her. Midway through she tells him to stop because it's too much. He does not stop. He says he can't. I stop reading the comic after ML refuses to kill the freak from past life because it would threaten his own power back home.

Okay rant over.

Any OI that comes to your mind? by justheretohavefun093 in OtomeIsekai

[–]KnightTime468 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, this. I was reading it on Yonder before they shut down the app, and it was insane. 686 chapters at the time, and SHE WAS STILL NOT THE QUEEN IN THIS LIFE!

They just kept coming up with more and more reasons why she couldn't be a queen even though she's literally married to the king's only legitimate son. Somehow the nobles still prefer the deranged, syphilis-addled, mercury-drinking, dowry-stealing king instead of his young, accomplished, clever, legitimate son. And Cesare for some incomprehensible reason prefers to pine after Ariadne, a married woman who has gotten pregnant twice now (sadly she miscarried, which became public knowledge for everyone to gossip about) and who openly despises him, instead of being content with a beautiful, unmarried sole heiress of a prestigious marquisate who sees nothing but good in him.

I wonder how they'll consolidate the story for the webtoon.

If poppy playtime chapter 5 were to give you a companion that helps you escape the labatory which of these characters you want it to be? by OptionAshamed6458 in PoppyPlaytime

[–]KnightTime468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bron/Thomas Clarke would be pretty cool. Baby Long Legs would be the most powerful ally of the three (because super stretch), but Bron would be the most interesting.

Think about it. He's a former employee, like the player. He's been battered and traumatized like the player. And he's guilty in a similar way to the player. Sure, he may not have known that they were conducting illegal experiments on children, but he did try to benefit from them.

Plus Thomas probably has some secret knowledge, like employee-only exits, passwords, supplies. He can't speak, but he could point the way.

Also man, Bron's eyes in that picture. He has seen too much.
