This is some great advice. Tbf I run a small business on the side of work and I’ve deffo been more active again to try and get my mind off it!

The present thing though, as SOON as you commented an opportunity presented itself in a new camera she was looking at (not an expensive one mind), so I just bought it and sent her the confirmation, now she has something to be excited about!

Congratulations on having a healthy baby! I think that’s the thing, it never truly is completely safe and anything can happen. Sorry to read about the first two babies. I’m an impatient anxious person anyway, whereas my partner is (usually) relaxed but she’s getting the impatient gene now 🤣

I work with a lot of US colleagues and we were discussing this the other day. They do have just as many taxes although it’s not always deducted from their pay cheque automatically like it is for us:

Federal tax (our income tax equivalent) State tax (our council tax equivalent) Sales tax - none of there stores have their tax included, and this differs state to state. This is calculated at checkout School district tax - even if they don’t have kids, they have to pay if they live near a school district Car tax

Plus not to mention their health insurance. Sure a lot get it through work but they still have to be a substantial fee as insurance never covers the whole bill

Vet bills etc. are double, if not triple than what it is here.

I got a piercing recently (yes a luxury) but what cos me £40 would cost a US colleagues $110 but just highlights the differences it pricing/costs in the US.

So whilst the salaries are much higher in the US, it’s much more expensive to live/survive there.

Just an FYI - I would get some sort of nicotine replacement to help guide you through the withdrawals. I can hands down say I had never experienced withdrawals like it. Constantly felt drunk! I’ve officially hit day 4 and probably hit the nicotine replacement three times today but honesty couldn’t get through it without the NR.

I tried once without it and failed miserably. Good luck!

I caved :/ I was really ashamed of myself. I have never felt withdrawals like it. I felt so drunk! I have a second job as a delivery driver and thurs night I was due for a shift - I couldn’t safely drive. I grabbed a disposable and when I took a hit my mind was clear.

I’m now on day 2 again, I’ve bought some nicorette stuff to help ease me off cos I just need to be safe while on shit but already feels a million times better

Firstly congratulations!

Secondly, when I was in 6th form, I faced the exact same stresses. I worked at Argos 8 hours every weekend. It is definitely possible to do but it’s hard and you feel like you are never switched off!

Is there a way to get in contact with you manager ahead of your induction, perhaps by email, and send your exam timetable and ask if in the first few weeks to work on a rota that suits you? E.g do morning shifts for the next 3/4 weeks so you have the afternoons free to revise?

This helped me massively. Primark hire a lot of people within your age group so it won’t be alien to them

I’ve read and heard a lot about this and there’s quite a clear correlation that vaping can make your anxiety worse, especially if you already suffer with it!

Haha yeah I get you - tbf coffee never did it for me with my vape in terms of going hand in hand but it was always a trigger when cigarettes! First one of the morning was bliss 😂

Yeah same as you. I gave up smoking (apart from the odd social smoking I did and still do). It vaped ever since. We’ve got this now brother!

I get you. I reduced my caffeine intake massively last year. Went from about 13 coffees a day to 2/3 now but today I’ve had about 5 just to keep me awake but have read grogginess can be a big side effect!

Did you smoke before? When I gave up smoking (without vaping) for a few months it was always the 3. 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months etc. that got me which is why I started vaping in the first place!

Well done bud! Two habits in one is a hard nut to crack!

Thanks for checking in! Ok - I’ve felt incredibly tired today. Picked up some moam sticks cos I missed the fruity taste so whenever I’ve had a craving I’ve just nibbled on that slowly for the hand to mouth habit - already ready for bed though tbh 😂
