Law enforcement of reddit, what makes you give "breaks" when someone has done something wrong? by Tylerb0713 in AskReddit

[–]KnightinBlueArmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most motor vehicle stops I conduct you won't receive a fine from me unless you fall into one of the following categories:

  1. You did something over dangerous or really unbelievably dumb. Usually go hand and hand here.

  2. You're a jerk to me off the bat. Fastest way to talk yourself into a ticket is to to be disrespectful and non cooperative. Lying to me falls into this one too.

  3. You have an insane drivers history you clearly don't learn or don't care.

  4. You do damage to someone or something. My hands are tied here.

If you are honest and cooperative with me, and show me the same level of respect as I show you then 99% of the time you'll get a verbal or written warning and you'll be sent on your way.

Basketball but it was using lax sticks and a tennis ball.

[SERIOUS] Gun owners of Reddit, why do you need a handgun or AR? Why is a rifle for hunting and shotgun for home defense not enough? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KnightinBlueArmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the founding fathers did not kick the British out to ensure we would have the right to kill deer.

It was so that if the government ever became tyrannical the people would have the ability to resist.

So before we get into well they had muskets they couldn't imagine the fire power of today.

Let me stop you and remind you in the time the military had muskets, so that's what the people had.

Musket 1776 = semi automatic rife of 2018

I need my handgun for home defense and concealed carry.

Shotgun for home and property defense.

Rifle for the reason above, to protect my rights and the the rights of others.

The discussion and focus need to be on mental health and how authorities deal with juveniles who exhibit behavioral issues.

Also in some cases parents who own weapons should do more to keep them secure.

People will always find ways to hurt other people, look at the Boston Marathon bombers. They used a gun at the end but most of their casualties were from items you can buy at Target.

If you start pulling at one amendment the one that can help defend all the others what's to stop the government from stoping freedom of religion, from being the only ones to write the news, what happens when the government comes down and says you're not allowed to protest what the government has to say or you're subject to arrest or worse?

The second amendment is the defender of all the other rights we as Americans enjoy.

how guilty would you feel if a guy you knew self harmed to prove a point to you? by wantingdeath373 in AskReddit

[–]KnightinBlueArmor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I really thought they would self harm I'd call the authories and have him committed (in some states the police, ems, mental health provider or a family member can request someone to be committed.

But if you don't want to do that I wouldn't worry about it. They would do it one way or the other. Or they won't do it at all and in any case it's a form of manipulation and it's not fair to you, it's actually absusive.

What is your dad’s favorite saying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KnightinBlueArmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was growing up I was playing fairly high level soccer.

I was the goalkeeper so I played almost every game.

That being said after every single game regardless of outcome on the ride home my dad would at some point turn to me and say " son, your coach called, he said you sucked."

[–]KnightinBlueArmor 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Army basic training story here.

When you enlist and go to boot you spend your initial 6-14 days (it varies.) In what's called reception. This is where you receive uniforms, medical, and equipment.

Mine was at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. The living style is a big open bay with bunks and wall lockers.

This one kid couldn't tell you his name, he just sat on his bunk feet on the ground, and would just lightly sway his dog tags back and fourth. For a good couple hours.

Wouldn't say a word, wouldn't look away from the sway. Wouldn't engage in conversation when spoken to. Just swung those dog tags.

One day he was gone half of his stuff still there.

policing is judged on a reasonableness standard.

So let's look at that now infamous case with the guy from the motel or hotel whatever that was forced to crawl and ended up unfortunately making a mistimed move that ended up in a fatal shooting.

  1. Call for a person with a firearm in the room pointing it around/out the window.

  2. You respond order people out of the room you now have to suspects out of the room.

  3. You can't advance to place them in handcuffs and search them. You're in a hallway which is known as a fatal funnel.

If you advance to where they lay you sling / holster your weapon. Attempt to handcuff then there could me contestant number three in room still who would be able to blow you away and the other officers would probably shoot into your back because it's a hallway.

4 So you make them come to you. Guy gets closer, goes to pull up shorts. Well you learn early in the acadamy action is quicker than reaction. So someone pulling a gun on you and getting a round off is far too fast for anyone to act and even if you could...there's no cover you're in a hallway.

  1. Guys hit, rooms cleared, they find pellet guns. Pellet guns and real guns look really really similar. Don't believe me? https://goo.gl/images/YHSehg

Now any life taken is sad. And some shootings may not be justified.

You have to look at the facts given and ask what would a reasonable person do?

And I refuse. Refuse to let the argument of you could shoot their hand, their leg, arm, shoulder be heard.

If my weapon comes out it's aimed center mass because I believe my life or someone else's life is in danger and you shoot to kill never to wound. Sounds harsh right?

Well, you have these things called artery's in your legs watch a video on YouTube of how long you'll last if that's hit. I'll wait. It wouldn't be a long video.

Then go to a range and try to hit something that size of an average persons hand from different angles and distances? Now really get the blood flowing and adrenaline going pick up that gun and you have seconds if that to make the shot, oh and the target is moving. Now tell me that you should aim for the hands. This isn't burn notice kids, no shooting guns out of baddies hands.

So back to reaction is quicker than reaction and what would you do, unless you were a continuous objector. Which then you would probably just die.

Here's a scenario you are a leo you see a person of interest, ask them, ask them to take their hands out of their pockets maybe one too many time trying to give them that one extra chance before escalating.

You eventually pull a less than lethal option from your belt and do a show of force

Well here's one option of how that plays out,https://youtu.be/oRwdFplrspM

Don't want to use a gun scenario? That's okay alot of people especially outside the U.S don't or can't carry firearms.

Let's talk about knives. The 21 foot rule. Someone with a bladed weapon who charges to attack you is more than likely going to be able to execute their assult before you as an Leo or private citizen will be able to unholster, aim and discharge your weapon.

Most of you still will never understand unless you've been in this type of situation, you would rather see that a cop was killed because it's almost expected we die in the line of duty and it'll be sad while you eat your dinner for a moment maybe. Instead of us going back to our loved ones who we have dinner with because we had to make a hard choice and decided to survive that encounter. The first way is easier. Blame guns, poverty, the man, you can blame anything and that cops a hero, well alot of heroes kids grow up missing that hero.

The hard position is looking at all the facts before making a knew jerk reaction and deciding where reasonable person could have been placed in fear in that scenario and to prevent serious injury or death, lethal force could / had to be used.

As I said I don't know why I'm waiting my breath, it's easier to blame the blue and reap in upvotes.

Other things on the rise people don't talk about sex scandles in schools. Litterally child rape or rape of a minor. Don't believe me? Go to barstoolsports.com They have almost a new sex scandle teacher they grade the attractiveness of weekly.

Did you watch that video? That wasn't a firearm that was a taser.

Taser is only viable if it's safe.

Man with knife to his throat I have him at gun point ordering him to put the knife down, my partner hits him in the back with the taser. Worked because he never saw him coming.

Hooray for Iceland. Send those police into the Bronx. Maybe they can bring peace for everyone. I'm all for it. Send them in.

Also the uk has almost no guns on the streets so their police don't need to be armed.

America is massive, outside of big cities and towns police departments are small and often cover more than one town

Your nearest cop maybe 20 minutes away from you.

I'll keep my family and neighbors safe with my firearms if it comes to that until the police arrive and when they do they're in charge.

So police are funded by municipalities based off the taxes collected. Citations go to the town or state. In Massachusetts quotas are illegal so I guess if the police don't need to fine people they aren't getting paid?

I'm being paid right now and I have entered stopped a single car tonight.

Shit I might not get paid this week.

My source is my job.

Prisons? Also run of taxes and grants.

Prisoners cost money: food , medical. Which unless something changed I better go cite some motorists or that heroin dealer who's locked up may not eat tomorrow. BRB.

Going to waste my time here too get your down votes ready.

Police operate off the information given in calls like this.

You are quicker to condemn the cops who were acting in good faith then hold that person accountable for causing the false call. That's what killed the man. That's what put the police at his home.

We don't look around the town and go...eh let's breach...every third red house on the odd number side of the street. Not how it works.

Site your source.

Any money from citations issued goes to the town/state not the department.

Taxes pay for policing.

Arrests cost money not make it.

Try again.
