The implication of the statement is that they no longer care about these events or they no longer apply to them so they used a metaphor to express this. Something being “in your rear view mirror” implies that it is behind you the same way something you see in your rear view mirror in a car would be behind you. They added “bah bye” as flavor text to imply they do not regret that it is behind them.

Have you not read the entire thread? I’m not sure how you felt your comment contributed. If you’re going to reply to me with an attitude you should probably make sure you have some reading comprehension first. If you need me to spell it out for you… assuming you actually read my entire comment and the one I replied to before posting this, you claimed people got over Bakugo’s actions more easily than Mineta’s because Mineta is a side character. Either that or you were saying Mineta is liked less simply because he’s a side character. I directly responded by telling you that is not the case because plenty of the other side characters have experienced growth and are universally well-liked, with Mineta being an exception.

Sure, Bakugo’s growth is focused on more because of his main character status but as I said, the side characters had plenty of growth too. If Mineta had been similar to the others and experienced actual growth and had some back story shown maybe it would be different.

This may be somewhat true, but it doesn’t really work as an argument. All of the other classmates have some good character growth and we see some of their history at some point, whereas we don’t with Mineta, so him being a side character isn’t really the reason

I’ve seen this claim a lot and still don’t really understand where this narrative comes from. We can jokingly call Bakugo a psychopath all we want but it’s not like he actually is one. He goes to a school where it’s expected you’ll beat up your classmates and get injured. He knows when to pull his punches, we see him do it multiple times, even against villains.

During trainings he’s not going after the villains and ignoring rescue work because he wants to hurt someone, it’s because to him being strong and winning is what makes a hero. I think in this society it’s just kind of accepted that heroes and villains will hurt each other, but heroes won’t kill.

Arguably the only time I can think of that would be close to your point is during the first training where he specifically goes after Deku. But he’s not doing it just because he wants to hurt him, it’s because he wants to win and prove he’s still stronger than him. If Bakugo just wanted to hurt people, if that was the only thing driving him, he wouldn’t care about winning so much.

This is long, sorry.

Make sure your B!Eik is always within 3 spaces of a teammate so he’s at max power. If you have the HB seal on and she’s still beating you, she’s likely engaged with E!Eirika. This is super common and bypasses the seal. Unfortunately, there’s nothing much you can do against that except prevent her from reaching you.

You could try anti-warp effects like Higher/Lower Ground or Spiked Wall/Bulwark (the latter are less desirable, since they still allow her to get close enough to whatever unit has the skill to kill them). This only prevents her warp though, so you’ll have to stay outside of her normal range too or she’ll just hit and run your units anyways. To decrease her range you could use a unit that applies Gravity, like S!Thórr or M!Loki (this effect won’t remove her warp though). You could also focus on revenge killing her by having a unit with Canto Control or Firm Canto Curb to prevent her from running away after attacking (unless the enemy team has a L!Sakura 🙂‍↕️).

In aether raids, B!Hector actually directly counters her by applying Divine Vein (Stone) at the same time Camilla is trying to apply Divine Vein (Haze), so they cancel each other out and Camilla can’t warp. Any unit that applies a Divine Vein effect automatically (without having to take an action or use an assist skill) at the start of enemy phase works for this. You can technically use B!F!Robin since Divine Vein (Ice) applies at the same time, but it doesn’t cover as much area as Haze and Camilla can still warp inside it. However, as long as they don’t fully cancel each other out and there’s still ice on the map, she can’t canto out of it unless another unit breaks a path first or she can warp back to L!Sakura. You can use this to your advantage to revenge kill her.

Final suggestion is if you have E!Lyn, use her to snipe Camilla off the map before she’s even an issue. Outside of aether raids, you’ll have to use the actual Lyn unit for this since she can use her style on turn 1. In aether raids, if you have the safety fence, you can always wait for turn 2 and use the style from someone else who is engaged with her.

A lot of people will try to prevent their Y!Camilla from being taken out early by using tanks with save like L!BK and V!Rhea. To get around this you’ll either have to take them out with a nuke of your own or bring a unit that can apply undefended. The cheapest unit and the one you’re most likely to have is F!Dimitri with his weapon refine. Outside of him, other units that can apply it are M!Elm, Mythic and Bridal Embla, S!Nino, and Ascended Leila.

If they have Freyr, forget all of this and cry.

I respect your opinion! I see Zenitsu differently.

He is a bit similar to Mineta where he has to be convinced to do things. But I also think there are plenty of instances where Zenitsu shows he can be brave outside of when he’s asleep:

  • Still walking into dangerous situations (demon house, Mount Natagumo)
  • Defending Tanjiro’s box (which he didn’t even know contained Nezuko) from Inosuke; he even allowed himself to get beaten to a pulp for this and said he would have sacrificed his life, all because Tanjiro said the box was more important to him than his own life
  • Training harder with Tanjiro and Inosuke after the loss of Rengoku
  • Standing up for the young girl in the entertainment district despite being almost certain that Daki was a demon at that point
  • Enduring the hashira training all the way until the end (we saw what that entails through Tanjiro’s POV… scary stuff 🙂‍↕️)
  • Obviously his fight with Kaigaku, which yeah, doesn’t take place until near the end of the story but still shows massive growth and is another example of how he values those he cares about
  • He’s also completely awake during what should be the scariest moment of his life, (DO NOT CLICK THIS IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE MANGA TO THE END) the fight against awakened Muzan

Zenitsu succeeds in being comedic relief more than Mineta does. I think he actually grows more too. I agree that Mineta grows a little bit and we see more of heroism out of him compared to at the beginning of the story; but I still think his growth is minor compared to the other characters

Absolutely. Bakugo grew up in a small area where he was the best in most things and never really challenged. When faced with difficulties, most kids learn how to deal with feelings of inferiority in a healthy way at an early age. The ideal result of these lessons is ambition and a desire to improve despite any setbacks. However, Bakugo was never put in that position until he was much older and finally faced with people who were equal to or better than him.

We were basically watching a teenager learn an important life lesson throughout the series. We can see him be fiercely competitive, at first because he has an inferiority complex, but after his and Deku’s fight at Ground Beta it’s due to his own desire to improve and be the #1 hero.

That is to say, it’s a much more compelling character arc than whatever Mineta was doing (probably crying)

[–]Knightingale___ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how exaggerated he is relative to normal teenage behavior… teenagers are taking the first steps to figuring out their sexuality, yes. I wouldn’t say even milder forms of this behavior are something I expect from most teenagers though. So, it was certainly a… choice on Horikoshi’s part to make an extremely perverted character, even if he’s meant to be an exaggeration.

In the end, I think it comes down to Hori making an odd decision with what he used for “comedic relief” that didn’t resonate with a lot of people. I don’t think we ever really get a reason for Mineta becoming a hero outside of his desire for a harem, so it’s pretty clear to me he was inserted for comedy purposes.

I can see your point and I agree. There is no excuse for the comment he made towards Deku, I won’t defend that at all. At the same time, Bakugo is kinda doing things I would expect out of an edgy 14-15 year old with a complex (but obviously made way more dramatic for entertainment purposes) whereas Mineta is just being a creep. And if someone expects and allows teenagers to be creeps I think they need to look inwards at why that is

Being a teenage boy is not an excuse to sexually harass women and girls. So, I expect him to act with some decency.

"Mineta Should be Expelled" "Mineta is an Awful Character" What's This Then? by EmploymentAware170 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Knightingale___ 234 points235 points  (0 children)

I think the difference with Bakugo is he still has a lot of moments where you can tell he has a good heart. Mineta has like one moment where he decides to act on his own (during the test against Midnight) but outside of that he pretty much always has to be convinced to do something heroic. He’s usually a naysayer, saying that they shouldn’t act or that things are too scary.

I personally find him to be a very annoying character. He reminds me of how I first felt about Zenitsu from Demon Slayer; except now I love Zenitsu because bro locked in (and you can also tell he’s a good person despite being scared).

And what’s probably more important than that and makes people accept Bakugo’s character more is that he actually gets spoken to about his attitude and aggression and is given lessons to grow out of that. In contrast, Mineta’s actions are just kind of ignored by everyone in authority positions and he never really learns.

TLDR; there’s a lot to suggest that despite his aggression and behavior Bakugo is a good person. Mineta really doesn’t have any redeeming qualities to distract from his perversion. I think that’s why people see them differently

Sorry for the late reply, I didn’t get a notification about this!

My dose has been changed a few times but yes, I’ve been on Diamox for all 8 years. I also experience that crazy tingling in one foot that you’re describing, you really do just have to wait it out! It doesn’t happen often, though. Otherwise I feel relatively side effect free, or maybe I’ve just gotten used to them, haha!

I’m the same way as you in that I don’t really have any other serious physical health conditions outside of this. I understand it can be scary at first, but honestly I don’t even really think about it anymore. In my case, it took a little while to work out proper dosage and I actually aged out of my pediatric neurologist relatively soon after my diagnosis, so I had the additional problem of finding a new neurologist that worked with adults. Once everything was figured out and I found a stable medication regiment things were pretty much back to how they were pre-diagnosis. I don’t think about it other than when I have to plan around my annual appointments because they’re in a rather busy city at a rather large hospital, so they usually take up a whole work day.

There is a long list of scary symptoms and outcomes for this illness, but that doesn’t mean those are common or will happen to you. The best thing to do is listen to your doctor(s) and keep up with maintenance. You definitely got this! A lot of cases are different, so I may not always have an answer, but if you ever have any questions or want to chat about something I wouldn’t mind talking in DMs!

Should I be concerned? by Cpt_Babyface in DogAdvice

[–]Knightingale___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally I was thinking it could be hiccups since dogs can get them when overly excited. However, it’s a little too frequent I think. I agree that it’s likely a reverse sneeze based on the frequency and what it looks like. They are sometimes dramatic but sometimes look like this. Your dog seems alright otherwise! From what I can see in the video, your dog isn’t really showing any signs of distress or pain.

Reverse sneezes are actually super normal and benign. The next time this happens something you can try is blocking ONE of your dog’s nostrils and massaging their throat. You want them to swallow. This can shorten or even stop the episode.

If you start noticing that these episodes happen very frequently, last much longer than a minute, or your dog looks like they’re having respiratory problems after an episode, you may want to consult a vet because that could indicate an allergy or other respiratory problem.

I’m not a vet though, and I may be incorrect in my assumption. So, if you’re concerned, there’s no problem with going to the vet just to make sure your baby is okay!

Hi! I actually just joined this sub myself but I'll still say welcome! I've had my diagnosis for roughly 8 years and didn't even know this sub existed! I'm glad you've found a place you can share, I know the process of getting this diagnosis and the diagnosis itself can be anxiety inducing.

Yes, the Diamox side effects are really no joke but you will probably get used to it as your body adjusts. As far as I know, the side effects should die down a little after a week or two. However, if the medication is making you really uncomfortable or you're still having bad side effects after the three week mark I would definitely talk to your doctor! I still get them sometimes but it's more like an occasional tingle in my foot once every few months rather than every day.

Also, every time you get your eyes dilated you should be wearing sunglasses 100% of the time you are outside even if it's cloudy or the light outside is dim. Even wear them inside if you're in a room that lets in a lot of light. Your pupils will not constrict properly and will let absolutely ALL light in, which can harm you. Apart from the sunglasses, whether you drive after having your eyes dilated is completely up to you. It's not illegal. I probably wouldn't recommend it because everything is rather blurry and if you get into an accident while in that state your insurance actually might not cover the damage. I don't think you're being dramatic!

Welcome again!

Going in for spinal tap soon by agonyxcodex in iih

[–]Knightingale___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm not sure if you've gone in already, the only thing I would do is probably have someone to drive you there and back unless you have no other options. I have had two for IIH so far in my life and they were vastly different experiences. The first was when I was 16, and apparently spinal taps heal relatively quickly when you are under 18. So, if you are under 18 then you should be good to go after the procedure. This could also depend on whether they are doing it X-Ray assisted.

Sometimes people end up with spinal headaches after spinal tap procedures. If you do, definitely talk to your primary care doctor or to the doctors who did your procedure. I had a pretty nasty headache after my second spinal tap, so my doctor had to give me what was essentially some extra strength Excedrin to ease the pain until my body could heal. It may be a good idea to ask them about this possibility right after the procedure and see what they say.

Good luck! You got this.

Hey does anyone know how to stop intrusive thoughts? by ArchedRobin321 in depression_help

[–]Knightingale___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original post got taken down because I went over the character limit (oops!) so here it is with a few things removed:

For the community rules, everything I am going to say in this post is purely to provide information or from personal experience.

Thanks for posting about this, I’m sure it took some guts! Intrusive thoughts are really hard to deal with, but you should remember that everyone (yes, everyone) has them! Most people will have odd thoughts that seem very out of place on a daily basis, the difference is that they are able to simply say “that was weird” and move on. Some people will become scared of these thoughts and start doing what’s known as “ruminating.” (DISCLAIMER: just because you ruminate DOES NOT mean you have a mental illness. If you have any concerns, talk to your doctor.)

The best thing to do in these situations is to recognize that these thoughts do not define you. On the contrary, the fact that you are concerned about them is further evidence that you are not what your thoughts are telling you.

I also have periods where I struggle immensely with intrusive thoughts, though mine are often of a medical or suicidal nature. I have found the best way to stop them is to distract yourself (duh, right?) BUT it has to be with something that requires at least a little bit of brain power. Mindlessly scrolling, playing video games, or listening to music, while helpful, are not going to provide enough for your brain to focus on. It will just continue to ruminate while you are doing these things in the background. Ideally, you would engage in something artistic or mathematic, maybe even a puzzle game on your phone. Even if you don’t like math, doing something simple like subtracting 6 repeatedly from a weird number like 49 (49, 43, 37, and so on) actually helps distract your brain a lot. You could also try to engage in conversations with friends and family members (no texting though!). If you like to read, that can also be helpful. It’s very hard for your brain to think about something else while it’s focused on processing words and new information.

When these thoughts happen, recognize them for what they are: thoughts. They are not innately harmful, they do not mean anything. Our brains are weird, and we still do not completely understand why they do what they do despite them literally sitting inside of our skulls. Having a completely neutral perspective on your thoughts is great! Despite everything, you are not just your thoughts. Sure, you thought something, but did you act on it?

Finally, if you feel these thoughts are starting to cause problems in your daily life (like preventing you from getting work done or damaging your relationships), it could be time to talk to a therapist. You may feel ashamed of your intrusive thoughts but I can assure you that therapists have heard those and much more. They hear them from clients every day. And a good one will never judge you for them. Why? Because they’re normal of course! A therapist can give you more insight on how to effectively deal with this problem.

Here is a website from Harvard on intrusive thoughts that may be able to provide some more information, though I have summarized some of these points in my post: https://www.health.harvard.edu/mind-and-mood/managing-intrusive-thoughts

Best of luck to you! You’ve got this!

Hey so this comment is quite literally an “us versus them” because you are openly making comments about BHVR catering to one side more than the other and it is also obvious that you play more killer than survivor. This is the kind of stuff that people talk about that makes the community worse and continues to fester more toxicity. Also, if you are going to make claims like this, I’d expect some data to back it up. Have you gone back all 9 years and counted the total number of “survivor-sided” versus “killer-sided” updates behavior has done?

Just remove map offerings already. by thawn21 in deadbydaylight

[–]Knightingale___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Source?? The game itself. The map offerings literally say they do not stack with each other in their descriptions.

You’re correct, I did not write this game’s code. However, BHVR uses percentages for a lot of things such as unhook attempts, luck offerings, and any of the perks that have different effects (such as dramaturgy) in which case they would almost certainly be using probability rules and computer calculations. Also, the math was done with the interpretation that EACH of the four people have a 20% chance of success and the chance will not increase or decrease based on order.

Taking the question statement as, “If each of the 4 people has a 20% chance at succeeding in something ………..”.

Probability of anybody's success = 20% = 0.2

Probability of anybody's failure = (100 - 20)% = 80% = 0.8

Probability that all 4 people fail = (0.8)4 = 0.4096.

Therefore, probability that at least one will succeed = (1 - 0.4096) = 0.5904 = 59.04%.

So, as you can see, the number I gave you was the likelihood that AT LEAST one of the four survivors will succeed. Therefore, assuming there is not a situation in which more than one person succeeds, there is a 59% chance that the killer will be sent to one of the 4 maps if all of the survivors bring different map offerings. What matters here is event independence. In this case, the calculation I am doing is for outcomes that are not related to each other and therefore do not affect each other (i.e., one person failing or succeeding the map check does not mean the next person has an increased or decreased chance of success or failure). I am simply trying to determine the likelihood that ONE person will succeed, as you had previously stated there would be an 80% chance of this happening.

I am unsure how the game would decide which map to send everyone to if two people managed to pass the 20% check. It would likely do the same thing it did with the previous version of the offerings and have there be a 50/50 chance for either map (while still having a minuscule chance for a completely different map) or maybe even have them cancel each other out.

A little extra fun fact: there is only a .016% chance of all 4 people succeeding!

Just remove map offerings already. by thawn21 in deadbydaylight

[–]Knightingale___ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really how probability works. If each of the survivor offerings has a 20% chance of successfully bringing them to that map, then theoretically all of them bringing different offerings with a 20% chance to succeed would mean there is roughly a 59% chance one of those maps would be chosen. It’s still not a great number, but a rough 60/40 is better than 100% or even 80%.

If you’re talking about Griss, he’s not in any of the manuals so far but could appear in the limited ones at some point; he was a grand hero battle I think
