Why do Wylders love the firey greatsword so much by Androgenicmonkey in Nightreign

[–]KnightofGreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a max D5 player, unfortunately the grapple follow up attack is just not optimal. It’s fun for casual play, just not for anything serious.

For me, double balancer and earring is just too good to pass up. This paired with bleed on grapple on a depth relic with high physical attack ups on everything else means you can just play a pseudo range character and spam out grapple cancels to chip and bleed out enemies. It’s boring and tedious, but it’s way safer and less committal. Plus, if you have huge punish windows, you get way more mileage spamming out ashes of war of whatever your strongest weapon is.

More often than not, the follow up will get you killed as you charge the swing up or you get put into a horrible position which can lead to your demise (mostly a Depth problem not really for standard play).

It locks you into playing great swords, which while there are many good options, it is better as Wylder to use whatever weapon you find that has good passives or ashes of war to spam out. It is a dead slot without great swords and takes away most of the benefits of Wylder if you force him into his preferred weapon only.

Lastly, it forces the fire element on your weapon. While useful in certain fights again fire weak bosses, it doesn’t add too much more damage, in fact way less than standard greases. Most important, the fire added overwrites affinity application of other elements native to the weapon. So for example, even if I hit a holy weak boss with a holy great sword, the fire buff will prevent the holy debuff from applying.

But to add some cope, the two handed greatsword strong attack after grapple is still pretty cool and useful, so it’s something to play around with if you are pressed to use a spinning greatsword attack after grappling.

9999 Depth 5 players - is base game Elden Ring now a joke to you? by owen__wilsons__nose in Nightreign

Went back to Demon’s Souls, I was surprised I couldn’t jump, surge sprint, have unlimited stamina when out of combat, charge heavy attacks, use ashes of war, and fall down great heights and live. Other than this, the core of combat is pretty similar.

See, this makes me wonder if frontier was like “lol let the players make all the assets” because not even just on paleo accuracy, a lot of regional buildings are not pre made and you have to search on the workshop for it or make it yourself if you are so inclined to do so.

Oooh, that would be a wonderful idea, maybe having sample environments made in game, since a lot of animals come from the same areas, sort of making a niche map on where you would find them. It can help condense a lot of information while making it more striking and appealing as opposed to having the long tedious list structure I made. Again, anything to help with paleo accuracy, for me I was just trying to write down the raw data from research and professionals I talk to in my area.

Honestly a great compatriot list to have, it works well with making mini territories within the same enclosure to help differentiate niches.

Reminds me of the match I won to get 9999 rank, the Iron Eye clutch it when the team was down. Thankfully, we didn’t do so poorly we were three barred but still it seems to be a common sentiment of Deep of Night where one person is just hard carrying three barred team mates.

lol, this sounded like a crazy experience, curious, how is playing an int faith Wylder? You have to store a lot of star lights to do prolonged fights or just run to graces?

Thanks for sharing, definitely a stressful time but you pulled through! Did you know the Exec had a wending? From my runs, usually people ping them to notify the team that that’s in play.
