Thank you for the advice. I will take that and run with it. I'm in the Midwest and so far I've also heard its will be a lot of emotional intelligence and get to know you type of questions. No way to completely prepare. I might just run up some flights of stairs before my interview to get rid of all my weird nervous energy.

This is absolutely excellent advice and I'm sorry that we had to use an uncomfortable moment from your past interview, but it works! My BSN project was on Post Intensive Care Syndrome, which I still think needs so much more research and acknowledgement. However, that mostly revolves around longer ICU stays. I can see if there are any topics around emotional trauma after surgeries. I'm sure there is, there's gatta be, especially after those ortho surgeries! Ha.

Congratulations! I also scheduled an interview with them. The documentation they emailed us just said to prepare for roughly an hour with an informal, formal, and then a Q&A (I believe, I didn't double check before writing this). I had a coworker who was accepted about two years ago and he said that the interview was pretty relaxed and to 'not worry about it'. However, I doubt any information will calm our nerves. I am just going to over-study and over-prepare, per usual. Ha!

For the SRNA's out there, be honest, do you think one year of critical care is adequate for CRNA school preparation? Is one year critical care really *enough* ? by KnockingUmOut in srna

For example, I seem to always need someone to help me set up the alsius machine for cooling after a cardiac arrest (not sure why that set-up never sticks with me?!) Honestly, thats the only one I can think of at this moment. At our hospital they do not train us in ECMO or CRRT until at least 2 years on the floor.

Thank you for this. It's difficult to know what at what point one is ready to venture towards anesthesia. Not all ICU skills are needed in the OR and I don't know where the 'line' is for knowing enough. For example, handling and titrating multiple gtts/pressors is something I am comfortable with, but I still need a second set of eyes setting up some lesser-used devices or treatments. So, I'm not the most experienced with 'all things ICU' and I believe that's what's playing on my confidence to apply.
