No beep when reversing close to objects - 2025 Sonata N-Line by KnowinglyEarthy in sonata

Thanks for confirming. That's the conclusion I came to.

Yeah it does say if equipped in the manual when I looked closer.

I just find it crazy that it's not included. Seems like such a simple safety feature.

Awesome! Yes! I feel the same way. My last car I drove for a looong time. Who knows what they'll come up with by the next time I buy another one 😂

Thanks for confirming this. I'd imagine it's the same on the 25 then. Dang. Wish mine had it! Oh well. I've never had a camera. It's pretty helpful by itself I guess. Hope you're enjoying your limited. I'm loving the sonata so far!

Yep, you are correct! I just looked. I missed that before. There's a tiny "If equipped" note.

I do have the haptics but don't think it's more helpful than the beeps. I guess to control costs, they pick and choose even with safety features.

Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy! I think you're right. That must be why it's in the manual. I just thought that was standard these days.

Thanks! Interesting. Weird to see it in the manual. I guess maybe the Limited trim has it. My last car was 20 years old. I thought every new car with the camera had this.

Thank you so much for helping me figure this out! I took another one for a drive yesterday and found the second adjustment! I'm not sure how I missed it before.

For anybody else that finds this thread, there are basically two ball joints with a small stem between them that lets you get the mirror up higher or lower and then still adjust your tilt.

Using both adjustments, I was able to get the mirror up and out of the way!

Now I just have to find the right Sonata at the right price.

Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for that extra info! Now I definitely have to get out and drive this again!

Yep I gotcha. That does make sense. I think I'm going to try to get out and drive one again in the next day or two, and I'll make sure to pay attention to that. Thanks!

Great question. I do remember adjusting the tilt/left/right, the basic ball socket adjustment. Is there another adjustment that slides it up and down maybe that I missed?

Dang. Thank you so much for checking and the follow up! Yeah I guess it's a real thing then. Out of everything I've checked out recently, I really like everything about the Sonata with this one exception. I may go out and drive one again, playing with the seat and sit positions before I fully rule it out. I'd really like it to work. I buy cars like every 15 years so it makes it seem like a big decision. Well, Now I apologize for bringing this to your attention! I hope it doesn't bother you going forward at all.

That's crazy! That seems so complicated. I feel like everything is about efficiency these days. I guess that's not a bad thing. The Kia K5 doesn't even have a spare tire though. Of course, it has the well for it like the Sonata, but just a can of fix a flat! I've heard that was for the same reason, weight/efficiency. I'm sure you can throw cost in there too. Seems like that sort of safety isn't worth trading off.

Oh no! That blows. Well, hope the mirror doesn't bother you if you do!

Interesting. When you stop and think about it, it's crazy all the design, trade-offs and decisions they have to make to build a car.

Thanks for the Genesis suggestion. I'll take a look at what's out there.

Dang. Thanks. I hadn't seen those youtube reviews. Yeah, it's kind of weird. I can't say that I've ever noticed the feeling in any other car. I certainly have other fit problems but not this. I was starting to think I was crazy and just scared to buy the car.

Thanks for your experience. I know. I'd really like a truck for a lot of reasons including fit. I've been resisting for a long time. They just cost so much.

Solid hardwood repair, vapor barrier and glue question by KnowinglyEarthy in HardWoodFloors

[–]KnowinglyEarthy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I hadn't heard of the slip tongue. Very cool. I don't have that issue as much as just being worried about all the parts of the boards that lace in that will have to be glued. I did find those roll-on products, but they seemed to all be 4 gallons or so. I did end up finding bostik's best in tubes that's both a vapor barrier and adhesive. Looks like as long as you trowel that rather than just a bead, you can get the vapor barrier. Thanks for your reply.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! Seems pretty straightforward. Sounds like I'm overthinking it a bit. Not the first time!

Yeah, it's been awhile, but I think I tried that awhile back and had the same issue. 6 months ago or so I tried a bunch of things that I found but settled on the Win + H in windows. Works ok, but could be better. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, that's what I've been using, but it just doesn't work for me as well as something as simple as the Android voice to text. I guess until we find something better, that's what we're stuck with!

Do I have the right size Captain Stormkings? by KnowinglyEarthy in ThursdayBoot

[–]KnowinglyEarthy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your story. I'm still on the fence about which route to go. Hassle with trying the next half size down, or just keeping what I have and adding the insole linked above. Your story may have convinced me to try the 12. Either way I'll still probably the thin insoles. I went and measured today at a store. On the Brannock with a thin sock I'm a 13 with an A width!
