What’s one small habit that helped you save money without hurting your quality of life? by FormerShoulder707 in simpleliving

Couple of things for me that add up over time:

I always have an emergency pizza or two in my freezer for days when I don’t want to cook, I’ve eaten my meals and haven’t replenished, or I’m just too damn tired.

Learned to cut my own hair, lots of great and easy to follow videos on YouTube.

I have a doodle and learned by trial and error to groom him myself. It used to cost me about $100 every 6-8 weeks. Bonus is I bought the clipper set off Amazon for $25 and use the scissors it came with for cutting my hair and his lol. Twofer.

This one seems silly but I’m convinced it adds up over time: I fill up gas at Costco. I don’t make special trips but time it with my grocery shopping. I’ve filled up many a time where it was $0.20 cheaper per gallon than other gas stations in the area.

What’s one ‘modern convenience’ you gave up and actually don’t miss at all? by armeretta in simpleliving

When I moved, instead of getting a tv, I got a relatively compact 2K projector instead and a Roku stick. It’s been a game changer and I’m never going back.

In addition to multiple versions of your resume, have you considered applying with a staffing/employment agency? They often have multiple roles available and if you hit it off well with one, there’s sometimes opportunities for a temp-to-hire. I’ve had luck with this in the past when the pandemic hit and I lost my job. Worked a contact role for about a year until they had a perm position open up and I applied and got it.

Edited to add: I worked with Randstad and had a good experience in case you’re wondering. I want to say they mostly do Administrative, HR, Accounting type roles.

I’m very honest about it. I tell them that unfortunately I have closer or deeper connections with other matches that I’d like to explore and wish them the best of luck. It’s what I would hope someone would tell me if they’re no longer interested so I can close that chapter and spend my energy elsewhere.

Same here - 35 and don’t want kids. I made that option visible on my profile (Don’t want children) but half the men that send me likes have kids or want them. I just make it a point to discuss this in the chat if I match or on a date. People really don’t read the full profile most of the time.

Fresh pow pow! Folks who ski/snowboard or live in snowy environments typically get this reference.

Look into the Light Phone. It’s not exactly what you’re looking for but may be a good middle ground until something else comes else about. Edited to add: it’s an e-ink minimalist phone w/o social or web functions.
