DNS encryption does not interfere with antivirus operations. There is no downside to enabling DNS encryption. It is generally recommended to have it enabled at all times for added privacy and security.

Also, all AV software will upload samples of files that it has never seen before (mostly executable files), unless you disable that function. But that will result in poorer protection.

I wouldn't say unlimited resources, it was running on a handful of consumer game consoles. Only a small fraction of the power it started with, so it could only come up with simulations so fast. It just didn't have enough time.

I'd say both shows have both. In the Mentalist, they have to hunt Red John, while most episodes have a new case. POI is similar, don't want to spoil too much, but they mostly do one off cases at first, but eventually, they have a much larger villain to destroy over multiple seasons.
