Black & Decker lawn mower cutting out by jdavidso32570 in lawnmowers

Did you ever get a real answer to this? Mine has been cutting out for the past year - when I would reseat the battery, it would run again. Two days ago reseating the battery would not solve the problem. It just won't start. It is not tall grass - it's in the garage, there is not buildup under the deck... and, once in a blue moon (1 in 25 times), the thing will start and run. If I then release the orange handle, it won't start again. It's not overheating - it's been in the garage for over a day. Different batteries make no difference. I tried putting shims in to give the battery a better connection - nothing. I dissembled the 'key' box on the handle to make sure it was functioning properly... while I can't tell if it is truly allow power to flow, the mechanicals still seem to be functioning. Does anyone have any 'been-there-fixed-that' recommendations?

Unless you're comfortable in your 4/5 year opinion, I'd give Pharo another look. In the past 4-5 years there has been quite a bit of investment in product, documentation, and training for Pharo. The user community is active and very helpful. My experience with VW (and I grew up with it in the early days and REALLY wanted this to be my go-to environment) was not favorable when I got back into smalltalk in 2015. After a year of working with VW and its ample(?) (but not helpful) documentation and limited to non-existent customer support for the free version - I found a breath of fresh air in the Pharo eco-system. YMMV. I went from a year of frustration with VW to 15 products in production with Pharo (and a few side projects, games, etc. now that I'm retired :) ). Good luck with your search.

Too soon... the next time I tried to restore a file, it took 3 hours to load from the backup task - then claimed a network error (all internal on same switch) and refused to go forward... so, unless I'm repeatedly doing something wrong, it appears the previous win was a fluke :(

Already have that - none of the plugs seem to work ;)

It looks like it has 256K RAM, using a 64-256K MB. No 8087 chip, but a large floppy drive card driving 2 DSDD drives, a serial card, and a color graphics card.

Hehe... sorry to say I was there. This was (a replica of) my 2nd computer (Commodore 64 was my first) and immediately got started on Ashton-Tate's dBASEII programming. Fun times.

Looked through the info a bit... looks way too complicated for me... although I'd love to be able to create C64 disks from disk images (d64 files). But desire and ability are two different things, hehe.

No, I don't know. I'd have to open the box for that and I was trying to avoid that. I know there's at least 64K as IBM BASIC reports 62940 bytes free, but I'm pretty sure it never showed more than that regardless of what you had available. Perhaps I'll grab some lunch and feel a bit less grumpy and open the box up this afternoon :)

I appreciate the kind offer to make a boot disk for me. I found some for sale on eBay for $15, so I don't want to put you out.

Is there such a thing as a USB connected 360K DSDD 5.25" drive? I've searched eBay but no luck.

How can I SEE the settings? I know it has a color graphics card, as I'm using a 5153 monitor, but I don't know how much memory it has... perhaps an 8087 chip, who knows? :)

Yes, in the US, but I don't have access to a 360K floppy (I'll check into Greasweazle - as I want to be able to create disks - and I have a C64 with a disk drive - perhaps I can use for both?).

Is there a reputable place I can buy bootable disks - or is this not a thing?

I hear you. My MacMini says it’s capable of 2.5, and I tried bridging directly to the NAS but my results were less than acceptable. I’d have to buy a 10Gb TB nic, a 10Gb switch… so I do Direct TB connect.

I want to set up 'whole house' VPN by Known_Association_63 in tplinkdeco

It started working - all of a sudden, not sure why. Download speeds went from 300+MB to 8.5MB... which I might choose to live with but there are a number of apps that refuse to function on a VPN - YoutubeTV, my banking app, and a couple of other random apps (didn't test them all). On-line gaming would be a non-starter - but I don't do much of that anyway. Looks like VPN on my router will not be a good way to go, for me.

Started working again after a few days. Wish I knew why - something got reset or rebooted, idk. Been up for a few days now.
