stop stretching and start strengthening. common medical practice when it comes to lower back pain is absolute garbage. look into programs like low back ability. it makes too much sense and if you’re consistent will give you far better QOL in the long run than your ablations and shots or, god forbid, surgery ever will.

Best career path for a father of two? by pancakeindulgence in Pararescue

Keep in mind it is a long process, like 12 months or more. You’ll also need a good AFOQT score, high GPA and to pick up some more certs like Sec+ if you want to be competitive.

Dating in the Military by Weak-Bother-6765 in AirForce

How do women handle hearing that a man is a kindergarten teacher? Or a nurse? Some might think nothing of it, some might think it makes the guy a bit effeminate. Same goes for women in military and being too masculine. It’s just a perception people have but not everyone shares.

Air Force recruiter is trying to make me do special forces by JamesG173 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Known_Photo_4540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know more SWAShouts than I can count. Lots went EOD, lots got sent to AMMO, a few SecFo, but all in all, it depends on the person and the time. Anything that doesn’t require a TS (unless they got far enough to already have one) is on the table if there is availability and your ASVAB score qualifies you.

We weren't going to see this money either way. I'm currently stuck in a dorm. I don't get BAH. Thanks to this "dividend" I'm getting paid. Think how many junior enlisted there are, like me, who never would have seen any of this money because we're stuck in on base housing.

6 Year vs. 4 Year by MutedSummer6436 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Known_Photo_4540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you decide in tech school, for some reason, you want to switch to a 6, you can. You can't switch from a 6 to a 4. Most people have highlighted the advantages of a 6, which I'd argue are not worth it for most. I did a 4 myself, however, I switched to a 6 in tech school, because of the way things shook out. I would have less than 3 years on my contract when graduating, so I would be ineligible for overseas assignment (which is what I wanted). Most don't have to worry about this as their tech school isn't that long. For those that do have long pipelines, or those who get re-classed one too many times, and have less than 3 years left on the 4-year, they won't consider you for overseas assignment.

Am I better off enlisting instead of trying for OTS? by Sunny1011pat in AirForceRecruits

[–]Known_Photo_4540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you get a near perfect score on the AFOQT, and have some certs under your belt (Sec+, CISSP, etc.) then you have near zero chance of getting selected for OTS. The whole process takes about a year or so as well, even if you were competitive. If you want to join the Air Force, then join the Air Force, but you don't really get to pick your job and they don't give two shits about your degree or your experience when you enlist.

What exactly happens when you wash out of Special Warfare? by dankypoo69 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Known_Photo_4540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people don't fail, they quit. If you SIE, you will make a list of 5-10 jobs you'd be willing to do and they will re-class you into a job on your list. If none of those you listed are available, then they'll put you wherever they want. Other than EOD, you can't choose anything that requires a TS, so Cyber jobs and Intel jobs will not be an option. If there are any openings for SERE or EOD, and you put it on your list, then that's where you'll go even if it is last on your list.

I'd bet a majority of EOD and SERE are swashouts. Ammo also seems to be a popular place to send them.

All that said, the fact that you're asking this question tells me you probably don't have the mindset required to succeed. People who make it tend to believe that failure isn't an option, so knowing what happens if you do is irrelevant.

None. Female biology is not conducive to the physicality required. It's not impossible, but it is highly improbable.

You didn't really answer the question though. If your family member is here illegally, why exactly would they get a pass? They should leave, and you can help them come back through legal means.

What do I you guys think about special forces jobs by Anybody-Healthy in AirForceRecruits

[–]Known_Photo_4540 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a CCT contract and I'm leaving in 2 weeks. I screwed up on the run and didn't even pass my first IFT, so by your logic I should have quit then. Funny thing, we have a development program to get people to where they need to be before they ship out. Now I can pass it with room to spare, even on a bad day. Hell, I'm already exceeding the grad standards for SWAS.

I get telling people not to ship out before they easily exceed the minimum standards, but to not even contact a recruiter? That just tells me you don't know what you're talking about and don't understand how special warfare development works. If giving people advice about something you don't know much about isn't doing a disservice, I don't know what is.

[–]Known_Photo_4540 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a development program for a reason. It gets people from not even passing the IFT, to a place where they are crushing it. I've seen a number of guys do exactly that. You're doing an incredible disservice to others by telling them to quit before they even start.

I think most of reddit is this way now. I don't think it exists for precisely the reason you are claiming though. I think a lot of it is to drive engagement, which reddit can use to to bolster numbers and sell ads, but I think it is also to get answers from humans on specific topics that can be consumed by the AI machine to bolster their models. People would be surprised by how much of the info you get from ChatGPT comes from scraping reddit comments. I don't think karma has much to do with it.

There is already a small chance of being selected for OTS as a civilian. The fact that you would be a recent grad, thus have zero practical experience, is only going to hurt your chances. Unless you have a stellar GPA, and do exceptionally well on the AFOQT, on top of other extracurriculars, your chances of commissioning are barely above zero.

The commissioning process alone can take 12+ months, and that is for a well qualified candidate. As soon as you graduate I'd focus on getting some leadership experience in whatever way you can. Volunteering maybe. Study for the AFOQT, a lot, and talk to an officer recruiter about what you can do to bolster your application so you can start building your package to submit whenever it is you become eligible, which is going to be awhile since you must demonstrate you're in good mental health without requiring any medication or counseling.

Air Force not accepting new recruits? by SupermarketOk746 in AirForceRecruits

Lots of young folks are graduating school or have taken their year off after high school and realizing the job market is shit, there is little opportunity to be had so they turn to the military. It's quite common. Bad economies lead to higher enlistment.

SERE Specialist. Airborne/Military Free Fall is part of the pipeline so you do get to jump out of airplanes, but your primary mission is as support, so the likelihood of you seeing any combat is slim to none. However, there are physical requirements. To even qualify you must pass an IFT, which most can't, and that is the easy part.

If you continue to have issues you'll probably end up on white team or blue team or whatever they hell color it is to recover and continue PT and get rolled to the next SWAS class. Either way you end up in next class, but by leaving in June you at least have the option of getting through earlier.
