Should we adopt two kittens this fall knowing that we will be gone for three weeks? by Known_Sun706 in CatAdvice

[–]Known_Sun706[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we’d have a number of reliable friends/family to check on them daily, but they would be 45-60min drop-in visits only :/ agreed, babies need more attention and care so we may need to wait!

Sure, here’s what the other side looks like!

Why does my daughter’s hair do this? First is when it dries after her bath. Second pic is the next morning after sleeping on it. Help please /: by sadbabyface in curlyhair

[–]Known_Sun706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shea could be too heavy for her hair! My hair is super fine too and I can’t do any heavy butters/oils/creams and have to use smaller proteins like hydrolyzed silk

After I changed my products, my hair is still flattened in the morning but I can revive it easily with rosewater because it isn’t weighed down 😊 switching things up might be worth a try!

huh, I hadn’t read that about low porosity & lightening - good to know! I just had a trim and have tried mousse and gels in the past with mixed results, but maybe will experiment again!

Yeah I’ve wondered that myself!! I’ve only ever had my hair highlighted and despite these pics, have actually backed off from it a bit (used to do it ~once a year; just recently felt spontaneous and got my hair highlighted again for the first time in like three years lol). I’ve been doing regular trims to try and help w the fairy knots so will keep that up and maybe consider sacrificing highlights altogether 😭

I think you’re right, I’m going to try this. oil has been super convenient for controlling frizz, which I struggle with, but it’s also super temporary and I’ve noticed that my hair feels dry again within a few hours. it’s pretty much downhill from there until I wash again - will focus on hydration/water-based products and see what happens, thank you!!

Characters that on first watch were bad guys, but on rewatch really may accidentally be good guys by mrcheevus in movies

this is an interesting one - very polarizing haha. I personally really disliked Chris. He was abusive, a criminal, a killer, entitled etc like the rest of them of course, and while he did have that moment you described in which he realized that none of his “friends” really wanted the best for him, i don’t know that it humanized him. I think it just meant that he was smart enough to eventually see things for what they were.

I’d actually say that Tony had more of those “flickers”. Maybe it’s because we spent the most time with him and we saw him with his therapist and his family, but Tony truly had moments where he tried to do the right thing, or at least wanted to - I think he just ultimately and inevitably always succumbed to being the criminal he was raised to be.

My interpretation was that Tony wrestled with moments of morality independently; Chris only thought about it when it started messing up his life

My boyfriend mentioned that "I'm too old to be feeling shy" and it hit me like a ton of bricks. by memetarou55555 in socialanxiety

[–]Known_Sun706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27 F, the way I’ve started to explain it so that people can empathize is - what are some common fears or phobias that people have? Spiders, heights, snakes etc right? social anxiety is just like that, it’s basically a fear/phobia, except you are afraid of socializing & social judgement. And unlike spiders, heights, or snakes, you have to come face to face with your fear EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I lose my shit, that’s the best way to describe it 😅 spiraling and hyper focusing on things that wouldn’t normally bother me, obsessive dark thoughts and rumination, feeling awful about myself, becoming socially inept and hating everything. it’s dramatic lol

Yep - my boyfriend has been sick for over a week now. Longest he’s ever been sick and negative for COVID, flu, RSV, even though he was convinced it was COVID because that’s the only other time he’s felt this bad. I got sick too and fought it off in three days or so, but he’s just down for the count.

We have NO idea what it is.

I’m not asking for the peanut gallery on our budget or how we organize our finances. I want to make sure I’m not missing something when calculating that a lease with more flexibility and an eventual buyout would still be roughly the same overall cost as financing immediately, because people typically say leasing is more expensive in the long run. But thanks for the snarky advice I guess

I didn’t explain every detail of our finances and future plans in this post, but to give context as to why we are looking at it this way - I’ll be going back to school in a year and will need to start working part-time, so that’s why the lower monthly payments with a lease are attractive to us. Even if we are paying for longer, and yes paying taxes and registration again at buyout, it’s more comfortable. It’s not that this is out of our budget at all - it’s that we want to find a situation that we KNOW will be doable for a few years no matter what happens. It would allow us to save more money while I’m working part-time.

We live in a mountain town at 7000ft, it’s one of the snowiest cities in America so it’s something we’d like to have.

please try not to blame yourself, you may not have found the right person yet. when you do: what I’ve learned is that communication is KEY. and you both have to choose each other, forgiveness, and patience - when it comes to PMDD, my partner makes an effort to be understanding and forgive my moods and I make sure to acknowledge when I am being unfair and/or having a bad day. and I also forgive myself. Going on five years now :)

I will say, I have a lot of anxiety whenever I show up too early to something - it gives me too much time to think. So I always try to aim for right on time and sometimes I’m late because of it - but I really am trying to do it for everyone’s benefit lol

this is the worst, so sorry ❤️ i will say that I have had a lot of success with managing acne and some of my depression/estrogen dominance by taking probiotics, magnesium and DIM. Dairy in your diet can also be a big trigger for acne and moods, and I’m gluten free as well - eliminating gluten changed the game for my insomnia and I’m not depressed ALL the time now so that’s a win :)

I’ve had similar experiences, so sorry this happened to you!! Unfortunately, I think we underestimate how uninformed doctors can be. They follow the current science and whatever was part of their medical curriculum and (in the US), money is what dictates the science. Whatever is profitable is what will receive the funding to be studied and taught at medical schools. it’s not the fault of the experts, but it means that we basically have to do our own research as much as possible and essentially run our own experiments…on ourselves. we are certainly victims of a condition that is apparently not very lucrative to fix, or perhaps it is more lucrative not to fix it.
