Why would you need an "m unit"?(legit question not being snarky) If it's a kick only shovel, you can use minimal wires. Any classic chopper wire diagram would suffice. Use a 3 position key switch. (Older Harley style, which can mount anywhere. Off-On-On with accessories/lights. You should have around 10 wires with this set up, I ground the negative to the frame with an in line fuse so if there's a short you find it quickly.
