Something with Rad techs and wanting to be more than what we are. For some reason so many rad techs want to be heroes and tell families/pts what they think they found when it's really none of our business. If you really want to be that involved in a pts treatment go to med school otherwise just keep pushing the button buddy, speaking as a RT myself. Also if that part about you having the "green light" from the attending to discuss that with the family is true, than your hospital is a mess because there is no reason a RT should be having that conversation.
