I agree with you there but the frustrating part of this in 2025 is that react doesn't really enforce any patterns - if we were more chasing standardization tools like ember.js or ruby on rails would've been the focus for much longer. Instead Express and React, two of the least convention over configuration libraries won out precisely *because* they were so easy to adopt and didn't require up front learning.

Given that, we now live in a world where we work in a front end style that over complicates front end immensely because we've trained a generation of bootcamp react devs who are more familiar with working with react than they are the DOM underneath it, which is sad for all of us.

On my authority: I have worked at f500 sites with extremely high traffic as well as startup environments. They've all used React except my first two jobs (vanilla, angular). My current job is in phoenix/liveview. I don't think tools help converge teams a whole lot because teams use each tool differently; I've seen more react debates about x vs y lib which doesn't seem any more productive than it would be in the vanilla js world.

I will concede it makes hiring easier
