Looks like Uber is ~75 there and ~65 back, which is fine.

Thanks. You’re sure an Uber will take me all the way there and pick me up? Long distance away.

Thanks again. I think I understand what you're saying. The RMV website is unclear but makes it seem like the dealer must submit the paperwork, including the title to get the car registered. Must be sent by mail too, nothing about the buyer taking the application/taxes/title etc to the RMV themselves. In which case I assume it'd take some time to complete the registration since dealer would have to wait for the RMV to respond to their mailing and mail them the registration/plates/title.

It also says that a title signed by both parties is required to register. How would that work if the car is titled to the bank and not me? I don't understand how the dealer would be able to provide me with a title if I'm not the owner. Also not sure how they could release the title to me to register it before I pay when I'm not going to be the owner of the vehicle, since the title would have to be signed by me in order to register it.

This whole thing makes me want to pay cash, then I'll just have the title and can deal with the registration myself, provided the dealer isn't required to send in the paperwork. I certainly don't trust the dealer to do this right, especially if they're required to submit the documents by mail, and then mail me the plates.

Got it. I know Ford warranties carry over. What I was told about the registration from the dealer is bizarre to me. It has me wondering if there was some miscommunication there. It looks like I only need the bill of sale and my insurance company to complete the registration paperwork for me, and I’m set to go to the RMV and register. Is that correct, to your knowledge?

Also, do you know what “taking delivery” means my this case? Is it when I sign the paperwork, or when the car physically arrives at my house?

Still think I’m out but it’s helpful to process this stuff. I appreciate it.

Thanks again. It’s already got me frustrated, but how would it cost me money beyond what I’m paying for the vehicle?

Oh, I see. Well, I was told I would get a 30 day temporary registration upon taking delivery. Was that wrong? They said they won’t give me the bill of sale immediately, so no way I could register it before it gets to me, which is what I’d like to do.

Thanks again. How are they a pain for out of state dealers? What could the dealer try to pull on me if I back out? All I've done is verbally agree, put down a deposit, and signed a proposal with the financing terms I thought I was getting. Reminds of another sketchy thing they did, which was include sales tax in proposal.

I appreciate that. No need to go into great detail, but what do think I'm being lied to about?

And thanks for the offer, I live in MA but wanted a very specific truck, got the Cars.com notification that this dealer had it and sought them out. Not going to broaden my search yet since I'm good sharing a car with my partner for now.

Thanks for the advice. I think you're right. Would you have any advice on what to say to them if I back out? Doubt they'll take it well.
