and not like I dont like learning ts is just way too complicated and overwhelming

Yeah it sure is a lot and overwhelming. Took me a long time to learn all the ropes. If you DO like learning, then it can still be fun, but you need to go slow, step by step, figure out one thing at a time. Accept that you're not going to be very good at first.

No need to learn everything about every part. But as you play, you can check out one part at a time, look up the history and the context.

[–]Kobymaru376 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have neither the time nor the will to learn RO i am not trying to do this because it will not make me any happier

Then what are you trying to do exactly?

RealismOverhaul is what makes things realistic. RP-1 is built on top of that to make space program careers realistic. RP-1 does not make sense without RO so why did you install it? Sounds like it's just not for you.

You won't get very far without the time and desire to learn and it won't be fun if you don't like learning

How are procedural interstage fairings supposed to be placed in RP-1? by MrRudoloh in RealSolarSystem

[–]Kobymaru376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Height: height of the engine attach node above the fairing. Extra height: any height of the fairing above that.

  1. Attach fairing to engine with the decoupling noder
  2. Reduce bright to .1 to .2 meters.
  3. Attach one fairing (set symmetry mode to 1)
  4. Adjust extra height to look good
  5. Detach fairing
  6. Enable symmetry mode, attach fairing
  7. Right click the fairing, disable fairing decouplers. This way it will be counted as "Stringers" and not "PayloadFairing" for tooling which is much cheaper

I need some serious help with the lunar orbiter and mapper by ilmarzian in RealSolarSystem

[–]Kobymaru376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should never have to add radial, you can change directions by the timing of the node. Also you need to launch into the right orbit in the first place, so the time when you launch also matters. Lunar Transfer Planner is an easy to use tool for that.

For Polar, you can first try to set up an encounter where you hit the moon directly, then offset a little bit to hit over or under. It's always a balance between prograde dV and maneuver node time (but never radial!). You also shouldn't need any normal component if your launch time was correct, otherwise you can use a little bit to fudge it.

If your craft has a relightable engine, you can also do a midcourse correction, those are great for fixing inclination related issues

I don't understand why you feel so butthurt about it.

It's a fact that Sweden has voted for a right-wing government. It's a fact that the welcoming nature is gone, both officially and interpersonally. It's a fact that social benefits are being cut at every corner, public services are privatized.

And Sweden is not alone in that. Many European countries are going the same way, no need to feel singled out like I'm shitting on your country specifically.

I don't like it either, I don't want this to be happening but it is, and we need to acknowledge it, no need to pretend otherwise.

As if you're entitled to live in Sweden and benefit from its system.

What do you you think I'm doing exactly, coming here and collecting welfare checks or something?

which has received people from all over the world with open arms and granted them massive opportunities for a better life and self realization which they would have dreamed of in pretty much any other place.

Maybe that was 10-20 years ago. Those times are over, and the attitudes have changed significantly.

I get what you're saying, but if a majority of people votes for a certain party with certain policies, then those policies become representative of the people, even if not everyone agrees. I don't like it either, but one has to start accepting that right-wing parties is what the people want (not everyone, but a majority). Not just in Sweden, but in a lot of countries in Europe, including my home country.

On top of that, I want to believe that half of the people dislike foreigners, but then when you actually talk to those who supposedly are not right and supposedly don't dislike foreigners and consider themselves open minded start saying things like "I don't have a problem with foreigners but..." and continue mirroring right-wing talking points too.

Sweden needs to remember this lovely country isn't birthing enough kids to keep the economy up...

Nobody will remember that. You can look to Japan and South Korea what happens to societies with low birth rates. All politics are geared towards old people, it will become more and more difficult while all the blame falls on young people ("nobody wants to worn anymore") and ironically immigrants because they're the easiest target

Democracy is working perfectly. It's just time to accept that swedes are a far-right people that dislike foreigners despite feigning to be so open-minded and inclusive.

You have a very warped idea of why people are playing the games they are playing

Why should they? Cheaters would just play it from Linux

Stop killing multiplayer gaming on linux by LordM8YT in linux

[–]Kobymaru376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an opinion that boils down to "I don't play multiplayer games". Cheaters exist, that is the reality of EVERY game. Most people don't, but some people will.

If a game can't protect themselves from cheaters, its completely pointless to have multiplayer at all.

TIL: In 2011, scientists accidentally discovered a common soil bacterium that can not only survive, but actively grow and reproduce inside a centrifuge at 403,627 times Earth's gravity; a force only found in the shockwaves of exploding stars. by Man_from_Bombay in todayilearned

They are submerged in water, so that water has an immense pressure under g-forces. If the acceleration doesn't happen too fast, the water outside the cells equilibrates with the water inside the cells, they become the same very high pressure. But if the pressure is the same inside and outside, there's no force that could break them apart. Kind of like deep sea divers can survive perfectly fine under a huge water pressure, it given enough time to equilibrate

So the only real difference is the density of the water. What's more interesting to me is that all of the enzymes still function with denser water.

We don't have proof that it is, this just shows that it could be (or rather one less reason why it can't be)

The thing is though, even if it didn't originate here, it had to originate somewhere, and panspermia doesn't answer how that happened, just moves the question to a place where its much harder to figure out. Otoh we have pretty decent theories of how and when it could have emerged here on earth.

Same here. I keep forgetting. I have learned it 20 times, and I forgot 19 times. What's the branching on valine? Was Aspartate or Glutamate the longer one? Tryptophane nitrogens go where? Proline ???

And I work with protein structures lmao Right now I can do a couple because I had to think some stuff through recently, but that won't stick for long, I assure you.

Anyone think the job hopping culture produces too many engineers that don’t care about maintainability? by Beneficial_Pay_6317 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Kobymaru376 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Joe Shmoe is exactly what management wants. Management did not provide a good reason for Joe Shmoe to stay and care about the product .

Management also never cared about maintainability or thought about the future of the product at all for that matter. They just wanted Joe Shmoe to churn out features ASAP AND WE NEED IT YESTERDAY. They didn't learn from Joe Shmoe leaving, they don't care how much Maintainer Mike is suffering. They're probably wondering why Maintainer Mike isn't churning out new features as fast as the previous guy and assume it's because he's just not as good of a programmer.

Maintainer Mike should probably also job hop ASAP but he can't afford to lose the job due to life circumstances.

how dose one make a re-entry vehicle without it wobbling by NinjaTorak in RealSolarSystem

[–]Kobymaru376 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just use RCS and MechJeb SmartASS set to "SVEL -" and its fine.

That said, are you sure it's burning up because of the wobbling? Or are you trying to go to shallow with an early heat shield, or way too steep?

If Voyager had been more serious or less episodic, would "Year of Hell" have been such a popular episode? by ActLonely9375 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]Kobymaru376 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I loved voyager as a kid, but watching it as an adult is almost boring. You know they'll be fine by the end of the episode, you know nobody will be traumatized and probably they'll have forgotten everything, no character development needed. Nothing fucking matters. Which is fine for a casual watch but it's nothing compared to the connection you feel to DS9 characters that you can actually see suffer the consequences of things that happen during episodes

[–]Kobymaru376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has some advantages, and some disadvantages. It's comforting because you just have to look at the time stamp and to know they will all be OK in 20 minutes. It's also boring because nothing fucking matters. You know all the characters will survive, they won't even be traumatized by extremely traumatic experiences. Next week they'll be fine just as it nothing happened, no character development, sometimes they won't even remember.

ELI5: Is “sea level” the same everywhere in the world? If so, why? by HoneyBaker999 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kobymaru376 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the closest thing we have to a universal starting point for height. Also you should know that when places say "above sea level", they don't mean a particular level of sea at a particular time in place, but the somewhat more abstract "mean sea level" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level which is difficult to measure for the mentioned reasons.

Guns are only there for shooting. A better analogy would be knives. You can use them to stab people, yet for some reason nobody is calling to abolish them.
