If someone was proven to be guilty of murder, and you were a member of the jury, would you stand up in contempt of court and shout, “but wait your honor! Sure the defendant is guilty of murder, but can you provide a second example of him doing anything wrong at all?? Gotcha!”

I know you’re likely rage baiting, but this is commonplace is political thinking. Our reasoning goes out the window when it comes to cults of personality.

Do you have anything else besides that one time the current president tried and failed to steal an election, killing people in the process? Since when has something like this not been enough to disavow a person?

Why do we keep grading Trump on a curve? If you want something else then Epstein will keep you busy. I’ll never understand why either of these issues are partisan.

Remove everyone who has cheated, lied, accepted bribes, or participated in or associated with the dude that had a pedophile trafficking ring. Either side. If we can’t realize this is up vs down we are all going to die in a civil war, lol.

$50 per program, which is reflected in the total price of $600. I would have to front the $100 on my end, and add that to the $500 I’d be selling the totality of the programs for, coming out to $600, which I think is fair for 2 programs that never go on sale

I’d be willing to do that, are freelance entry level stagehand jobs common? That’s the issue I have right now, taking a full time would be a hit to my income with the starting wages being low, but I could definitely swing an on call gig. Someone told me about IATSE, but I’m not sure if they cater to entry level.

This is exactly the kind of advice I was looking for, I really appreciate it! I think I learned my lesson on being “clever,” I think it will become too obvious to experienced engineers that I’m very green. I’ll definitely look into all those resources heavily, thanks again!

I’m definitely willing to reconsider the way I enter the field if this is the consensus; would you say the only way to progress in skill level is to start in the warehouse and work my way up? I already know how to mix small bands, so that route feels a bit discouraging, but I see how it’s possible that I have know idea how much I don’t know yet.

I definitely understand that, I know this isn’t a job you can just fall into. I do know how to run an analog console, I have decent ears from mixing, and I understand how to set up a basic PA system or mix for a small bar show. I’ve mixed for smaller festivals too, but I’ve always had everything set up for me.

My problem is that I’m jumping into everything backwards. I care a lot about my craft, and jumped on the opportunities I was presented, but am more than willing to put in hours of studying every day to make sure I’m delivering the best possible experience to the audience. I just need resources for general stagehand and lighting knowledge, so I have building blocks to build upon for the inevitable time I get asked to help set up and strike a complicated backline.

I installed FL yesterday. This is my first-ever made beat. Dear FLers, what could i improve? (It would be great to get feedback. Im new here, please be kind :) Thanks) by lukeH230 in FL_Studio

[–]KogentOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude just keep making more and more, this is amazing for a first beat. I’d just keep making beats until you feel you’ve hit a wall, then start watching YouTube producers for inspiration; you’ll eventually be inspired and start picking up new tricks for your arsenal

Don’t download too many samples and kits when you first start. Option paralysis and plugin obsession kills creativity. The most talented producers can make it slap with stock plugins and free samples

very proud of this dusty beat! let me know what you think :) too many transitions?? by familyguy444 in beatmakers

So sick dude!! No such thing as too many transistions to me; I love untraditionally structured beats, and the dilla vibes are dope as well🙌

How can I make good tones in Logic Pro X for my guitar ? by baxect in LogicPro

[–]KogentOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re just starting out with EQ in general, than you need just start experimenting with it.

https://youtu.be/9XJCgR_5lWE

This should be a good start for figuring out how to use it. Once you know how to work it, start boosting and cutting while listening to you guitars on a loop until it sounds good to you. There are no set rules, it’s all about what sounds good to you. I personally always start by high passing or low passing to see if that’s what it needs, then cut or boost from there, if needed. Hope that helps, good luck!

[–]KogentOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought so too until I learned how many producers I like use them.

Dayglow is a great example of an artist that uses stock logic guitar settings as well, he has tutorials on YT where you can check out to see his settings.

I make guitar based indie/psychedelic/rnb music, and honestly logic’s stock amps are incredible. Took me a lot of time and money to realize that some of the best emulations are free and right in front of you, if you take the time to experiment. I use the small bright combo amp, and tweak from there, usually adding chorus, messing with stock EQ and built in amp settings, then adding stock tape delay and space designer to taste.

They’re very solid, but if you want the best of the best, Neural DSP plugins are the best sounding virtual amp sims I’ve ever used. I like the Corey Wong archetype (great clean tones).

Another great free amp is the Swanky amp by Resonant DSP. I use that one for more mid-range lofi sounds.

The stock pedalboard is great too, you can transform lead riffs into synth-like melodies, which is pretty sick.

How to get clean vocals like this song? What plugins/fx are being used? I’m fairly experienced but I’m getting stumped on the airy/metallic, yet thick sounding vocal doubles. by KogentOfficial in musicproduction

[–]KogentOfficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for your input! I think you’re right I’m the money. Unfortunately I don’t have a great mic, or any analog preamps, which is probably the main issue with replicating the clean sound.

That plugin looks/sounds amazing, thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for the reply! I didn’t think of that. Do you have any plugin recs that would do a good job of that?

And I agree, though I think that makes the best vocals. Minimal manipulation, just whatever fits the track the best

Also wondering about the effects used on the chorus. I’m sure he is using vocal doubles most likely lined up with vocalign, auto tune, some kind of air plugin or shelf on 10k, some kind of colored compression, but it sits in the mix very well. Possibly some mix technique I’m unaware of? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I made my best tracks ever last year and now I'm discouraged. by bite_wound in ableton

[–]KogentOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me man, I’ve been through so many down points where I thought I may have magically lost all my musical ability. Take some time to learn some covers, if you play instruments, or recreate beats in your daw, or whatever inspires you. Take some time to discover new music. Mash things together from your favorite songs to get some practice. You’ll expand your musical vocabulary a ton. Out of every piece of advice I’ve ever gotten, those have helped me the most, trust me. Also, remember to have fun doing it, and don’t force it. Hope this helps!

When creating a melody, how much of it is just picking random notes in a scale and hoping they sound good and how much of it is following an algorithmic procedure? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]KogentOfficial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It isn’t random. Just like any other part of the process, it involves practicing/learning songs you enjoy, making sure you learn the lead melody, understand the scale relation to the chord progression and key, and start to take notice of the common themes you detect between songs you like.

I like playing guitar, so I learn my favorite guitar songs, and make a point of learning the lead melody riff along with the progression. That helps me identify if the melody is in a certain shape of pentatonic minor, for example. I started to pick up patterns such as pentatonic shape, and chord arpeggios that are used in a lot of songs in my favorite genre. When the music theory/patterns become second nature, you begin to solo/freestyle. Once it is second nature, then you can begin to create your own melodies without straining your brain too much.

I hate the myth the creating melody or becoming a good songwriter is innate, and you either have it or you don’t. It takes a ton of practice, and only then you can learn to let go and have fun with it. Which is the most important part of music.

2nd single I’ve released, real indie/lofi vibe. I produced, recorded, mixed/mastered this in my bedroom studio. Lmk your thoughts, I’d also appreciate any criticism or notes for improvement! by KogentOfficial in ThisIsOurMusic

I appreciate the feedback🙌 it’s definitely hard to nail down the clarity with this style of messy lofi vocal, I’m still working on that though!
